Brian Hines just got a Feature Match last round with his Anti Monster Deck and took the victory to secure a spot in the Top 64. Now he’s finally there, and Dueling against Richard Wilkerson’s Hieratics Deck! Only one of these Duelists can advance to the Top 32!

Duel One

Wilkerson opened up with Effect Veiler, Forbidden Lance, Red-Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon, Heavy Storm, and 2 copies of Hieratic Dragon of Su. He ended his turn without making a play.

Hines Set a card to his back row and passed.

Wilkerson drew Hieratic Seal of Convocation and then activated Heavy Storm to destroy Hines’s face-down Bottomless Trap Hole. He used his Seal to search his Deck for Hieratic Dragon of Eset and add it to his hand. He Normal Summoned Eset and then Special Summoned Hieratic Dragon of Su. He Special Summoned Wattaildragon from his Deck with Eset’s effect and then combined Su with Wattaildragon to Summon Hieratic Dragon King of Atum. Next, Wilkerson detached Wattaildragon from Atum to Special Summon Red-Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon from his Deck. He activated its effect to Special Summon Eset from his Graveyard and then Tributed Eset to Special Summon Su. He used Eset’s effect to Special Summon Wattaildragon from his Deck and then combined Wattaildragon with Su to Summon Number 25: Force Focus. He banished Red-Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon next in order to Summon another Red-Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon from his hand, and then used its effect to Special Summon Wattaildragon. He upgraded his Atum to Gaia Dragon, the Thunder Charger, and then attacked directly with Gaia Dragon, Wattaildragon, Red-Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon, and Number 25: Force Focus to win the first Duel!

Duel Two

Hines Set 2 cards to his back row and Summoned Thunder King Rai-Oh.

Wilkerson opened up with 3 copies of Tour Guide From the Underworld, Effect Veiler, Forbidden Lance, and Hieratic Dragon of Su. He Summoned a Tour Guide and used its effect to Special Summon a Sangan from his Deck. He combined Tour Guide with Sangan in an attempt to Summon Wind-Up Zenmaines, but Hines negated its Summon by sending Rai-Oh to the Graveyard.

Hines Summoned another Rai-Oh next turn and attacked directly with it.

Wilkerson tried to Summon Tour Guide From the Underworld, and Hines flipped Solemn Judgment to negate its Summon!

Hines Summoned his own Tour Guide next turn, and Wilkerson negated its effect with Effect Veiler. Tour Guide and Rai-Oh attacked Wilkerson directly.

Wilkerson drew Hieratic Dragon of Eset next turn. He Summoned Tour Guide and then attacked Hines’s Tour Guide with it. He Set Forbidden Lance, but lost it in the End Phase to Mystical Space Typhoon.

Hines Summoned Black Luster Soldier – Envoy of the Beginning next turn, and Wilkerson conceded!

Duel Three

Wilkerson opened up with Red-Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon, Enemy Controller, Forbidden Lance, Hieratic Dragon of Eset, Hieratic Dragon of Su, and Hieratic Dragon of Tefnuit. He passed his turn without making a play.

Hines Summoned Tour Guide From the Underworld and used its effect to Special Summon Sangan from his Deck. He attacked with both monsters to bring Wilkerson down to 6000 Life Points and then Set a card to his back row.

Wilkerson drew Dark Hole next turn. He Special Summoned Hieratic Dragon of Tefnuit and then Tributed it to Special Summon Hieratic Dragon of Su. Hines Chained Maxx “C” to Tefnuit’s effect, so he drew a card when Wilkerson Special Summoned Wattaildragon from his Deck. Next, Wilkerson Tributed Hieratic Dragon of Eset from his hand to use Su’s effect. Hines used Effect Veiler to negate Su’s effect, and drew another card when Eset Special Summoned Wattaildragon from his Deck. Next, Wilkerson Xyz Summoned Atum by combining 2 Wattaildragon, and then detached an Xyz Material from it to Summon Su from his Deck. Hines drew more cards for the Special Summons thanks to Maxx “C” and then activated Torrential Tribute! Wilkerson used Forbidden Lance to protect Su, but the rest of the monsters on the field were destroyed. Hines added an Electric Virus from his Deck to his hand with Sangan’s effect. Wilkerson attacked directly with his Su and Set Enemy Controller before ending his turn.

Hines activated Heavy Storm to destroy Enemy Controller and then Special Summoned Cyber Dragon. He Normal Summoned Tour Guide From the Underworld next, and used its effect to Special Summon Tour Bus from his Deck. Next, Hines combined Tour Guide with Tour Bus to Xyz Summon Number 17: Leviathan Dragon, and used his Leviathan Dragon’s effect to give it an extra 500 ATK. Hines discarded Electric Virus to take control of Su, and attacked directly with Su, Cyber Dragon, and Number 17: Leviathan Dragon to win the Duel and the Match!

Brian Hines defeats Richard Wilkerson’s Hieratic Deck 2-1 and advances to the Top 32!
