WCQ Round 6 Round-Up

July 1st, 2012

Welcome to Round 6! Take a look at 4 more tables of undefeated Duelists!

.

At our first Featured Table, Justin Harrell used his Inzektor Deck to defeat Reda Jawhari’s monster-heavy Wind-Ups!

In Duel 1, Jawhari managed to Special Summon Black Luster Soldier – Envoy of the Beginning, but Harrell was able to destroy it with Inzektor Centipede and Inzektor Hornet, turning the Duel around with his Inzektor combos.

In Duel 2, Jawhari opened up with the Wind-Up Hunter loop and Pot of Avarice to send Harrell’s entire hand to his Graveyard on his first turn! Harrell couldn’t recover.

In Duel 3, Harrell took the early lead, but Jawhari made a comeback with Marauding Captain, 2 copies of Wind-Up Shark, and a lucky Gallis the Star Beast that sent Wind-Up Hunter from the top of his Deck to his Graveyard. He made Wind-Up Carrier Zenmaity, but lost its effect to Effect Veiler, and then made another Wind-Up Carrier Zenmaity to pull off the loop with Wind-Up Hunter. Harrell Xyz Summoned Number 20: Giga-Brilliant before ending his turn. Next turn, Harrell used Call of the Haunted to Summon Sangan, used Mystical Space Typhoon to destroy Call of the Haunted, thereby destroying Sangan, and searched his Deck for Inzektor Dragonfly with Sangan’s effect. He pulled off his Inzektor combos using Inzektor Hornet to clear Jawhari’s field and Summon Zenmaines, turning the Duel around.

.

At our second Featured Table, 13-year-old Brandon Sharpe used his Dino Rabbit Deck to defeat Jarel Winston’s Chaos Dragons 2-0!

In Duel 1, Sharpe Summoned Rescue Rabbit, leading into an Evolzar Dolkka that he used to attack Winston’s Ryko, Lightsworn Hunter. Dolkka negated Ryko’s effect. Winston Summoned Eclipse Wyvern next turn and banished it to Summon Red-Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon; but Sharpe flipped Bottomless Trap Hole and banished Winston’s Dragon. Next turn, Sharpe used Tour Guide From the Underworld to Summon Leviair the Sea Dragon and Rescue Rabbit, allowing him to seal the Duel.

In Duel 2, Winston Summoned Eclipse Wyvern and banished it to Summon Red-Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon on his first turn. He used its effect to Summon Darkflare Dragon. Sharpe used Dark Hole to clear the field, then Summoned Rescue Rabbit and used its effect to Summon 2 Kabazauls from his Deck. They attacked Winston directly, and Sharpe Xyz Summoned Laggia in Main Phase 2. Winston Summoned Doomcaliber Knight and used Soul Taker. When Laggia tried to negate Soul Taker, Winston’s Doomcaliber Knight Tributed itself to destroy Laggia. Sharpe Summoned another Rescue Rabbit on his next turn and Summoned 2 copies of Sabersaurus that he attacked directly with. He Xyz Summoned Evolzar Laggia and Winston conceded on his next turn, wishing his opponent good luck in the next round.

.

At our third Featured Table, Adam Ginsberg used his Gravekeeper’s Deck to defeat Tyler Nolan’s Exodia Deck 2-1!

In Duel 1, Nolan drew a bunch of cards, but only gathered 4 pieces of Exodia. Ginsberg’s Necrovalley shut down Nolan’s Magical Stone Excavation, hindering his Deck.

In Duel 2, Nolan used a bunch of Spell cards to draw all 5 pieces of Exodia, allowing him to win on his third turn.

In Duel 3, Nolan couldn’t gather all of the pieces of Exodia. He took One Day of Peace over Magical Mallet with Pot of Duality when he had 4 pieces of Exodia in hand, and thinks that if he took the Mallet, he might’ve won. He said he should’ve sent the 4 pieces back with Mallet, to draw them again later.

.

At our fourth Featured Table, Michael Steinman used his Dino Rabbit Deck to defeat Luke Feeney’s Wind-Up Deck 2-1!

In Duel 1, Steinman Summoned Rescue Rabbit first turn to Xyz Summon Evolzar Laggia. He later used Guaiba to destroy Sangan and banished it with Macro Cosmos, prompting a concession from Feeney.

In Duel 2, Feeney pulled off the loop with Wind-Up Hunter to send 3 cards from Steinman’s hand to his Graveyard. On his next turn, he used Heavy Storm to destroy 2 of Steinman’s back rows and Summoned Thunder King Rai-Oh to lock the victory.

In Duel 3, Steinman opened Rescue Rabbit, Tour Guide From the Underworld, Monster Reborn, Solemn Judgment, Book of Moon, and Starlight Road. He tried banishing his Rescue Rabbit on his first turn to activate its effect, but Feeney used Effect Veiler on the Rabbit and then destroyed it in battle next turn. Feeney Set Solemn Warning before passing. Steinman drew Heavy Storm and activated Monster Reborn on Rescue Rabbit on his next turn; Feeney flipped Solemn Warning, and Steinman used Solemn Judgment to make sure his Monster Reborn resolved! He banished Rescue Rabbit to Summon 2 Kabazauls and Xyz Summoned Dolkka. Then he Summoned Tour Guide and Xyz Summoned Leviair the Sea Dragon. He Special Summoned Rescue Rabbit in Defense Position, realizing that he can only use Rabbit’s effect once per turn. Dolkka and Leviair attacked over Feeney’s Sangan and Tour Guide, and Dolkka negated Sangan’s effect. On his next turn, Steinman banished his Rescue Rabbit to Summon 2 Sabersaurus and then Summoned Neo-Spacian Grand Mole for the victory!

.

Justin Harrell, Brandon Sharpe, Adam Ginsberg, and Michael Steinman are moving on with 6-0 records!
