Dragon Duel Round 2 Feature Match: Josh Bridges vs. Blake Hammond

Josh Bridges from Knoxville, Tennessee and Blake Hammond from Yorkville, Illinois are two 12-year-old Dragon Duelists who both won their first rounds. Now they’re Dueling against one another in this Round 2 Dragon Duel Feature Match! Bridges is using an Evol Deck and Hammond is running Frog Monarchs.

 

Duel One

 

Bridges opened up Duel 1 with Evoltile Westlo, Dimensional Prison, Forbidden Lance, and 2 copies of Evolsaur Vulcano.

 

Duel 1 opening

 

He drew Enemy Controller. He Set Westlo and Dimensional Prison and then ended his turn.

 

Hammond activated Mystical Space Typhoon to destroy Bridges’s face-down Dimensional Prison and then Summoned Swap Frog. He used its effect to send Treeborn Frog from his Deck to his Graveyard and then used his Swap Frog’s effect to return Swap Frog back to his hand. He ended his turn with a clear field.

 

Bridges drew Heavy Storm next turn. He Flip Summoned his Westlo and then used its effect to Special Summon Evolsaur Cerato from his Deck. Next, he Normal Summoned Evolsaur Vulcano, and combined it with Cerato to Xyz Summon Evolzar Dolkka! Westlo and Dolkka attacked Hammond directly, dropping him down to 5000 Life Points. Bridges Set Enemy Controller and Forbidden Lance before ending his turn.

 

Hammond Special Summoned Treeborn Frog and then Tributed it to Summon Raiza. He activated its effect, but Bridges detached an Xyz Material from Dolkka to negate Raiza’s effect and destroy Raiza! Next, Hammond activated Monster Reborn to Special Summon Raiza from his Graveyard, and declared an attack on Dolkka; but Bridges flipped Enemy Controller to put Raiza in Defense Position.

 

Bridges drew Solemn Warning and Set it. He Summoned Vulcano and attacked the Defense Position Raiza to destroy it. Direct attacks from Dolkka and Westlo dropped Hammond down to 2000 Life Points.

 

Hammond activated Pot of Duality next turn and managed to add a Dark Hole to his hand! He activated it, but Bridges Chained Forbidden Lance to protect his Dolkka! Dolkka dropped down to 1500 ATK, and Westlo and Vulcano were destroyed by Dark Hole.

 

Bridges drew Cerato and Summoned it. He attacked and destroyed Bridges’s face-down Dupe Frog with Dolkka, and Hammond used his Frog’s effect to add a Swap Frog from his Deck to his hand. Then Cerato attacked Hammond directly, dropping his Life Points down to 100.

 

Hammond Special Summoned Treeborn Frog from his Graveyard in Defense Position in his next Standby Phase and then Special Summoned Swap Frog by discarding another Swap Frog from his hand. He used its effect to send Ronintoadin to his Graveyard. He banished Swap Frog from his Graveyard to Special Summon Ronintoadin. Next, he combined Swap Frog with Ronintoadin to Summon Gachi Gachi Gantetsu in Defense Position.

 

Bridges drew Evo-Force next turn. He attacked Gachi Gachi Gantetsu with Dolkka to get rid of an Xyz Material from it and then passed.

 

Hammond Special Summoned Treeborn Frog and Tributed it to Summon Raiza the Storm Monarch; but Bridges once again negated its effect by detaching an Xyz Material from Dolkka! Hammond tried to Special Summon Illusory Snatcher, but Bridges negated its Summon by activating Solemn Warning and giving up 2000 Life Points!

 

Bridges drew another Cerato next turn and Summoned it. Hammond instantly conceded, knowing he couldn’t survive the turn!

Josh Bridges wins Duel 1 thanks to Evolzar Dolkka! Blake Hammond will be going first in Duel 2!

 

Duel Two

Hammond started off Duel 2 by activating Pot of Duality, revealing Thunder King Rai-Oh, Swap Frog, and Creature Swap from the top of his Deck. He added Rai-Oh to his hand and Summoned it.

 

Bridges opened up with Monster Reborn, Soul Drain, Evo-Force, Evolsaur Vulcano, Effect Veiler, and Jurrac Guaiba. He Set Vulcando and passed.

 

Hammond Set a monster and then attacked Vulcano with Rai-Oh to destroy it.

 

Bridges drew Evolsaur Cerato next turn and Summoned it. He attacked Rai-Oh, destroying both monsters. Bridges Set Soul Drain before ending his turn.

 

Hammond discarded Treeborn Frog from his hand to Special Summon Swap Frog and then used its effect to send another Treeborn Frog from his Deck to his Graveyard. Next, he attacked directly with Swap Frog to drop Bridges down to 7000 Life Points. He returned Swap Frog to his hand before ending his turn.

 

Bridges drew Bottomless Trap Hole next turn. He Summoned Jurrac Guaiba and then used Monster Reborn to Special Summon Cerato from his Graveyard. He combined Cerato with Guaiba to Summon Evolzar Dolkka and then attacked and destroyed Hammond’s face-down Dupe Frog. Bridges detached an Xyz Material from Dolkka to negate its effect.

 

Hammond drew a card and then Bridges activated his face-down Soul Drain. Hammond used Soul Exchange to Tribute Bridges’s Dolkka and Summon Mobius the Frost Monarch. He targeted Bottomless Trap Hole and Soul Drain with Mobius’s effect, and Bridges Chained Bottomless Trap Hole to banish Mobius. Hammond Special Summoned Illusory Snatcher from his hand and passed.

 

Bridges drew Enemy Controller and Set it.

 

Hammond Special Summoned Treeborn Frog and activated Heavy Storm to destroy Enemy Controller. He attacked directly with Illusory Snatcher and ended his turn.

 

Bridges drew Hydrogeddon next turn! He attacked and destroyed Treeborn Frog to Special Summon another Hydrogeddon from his Deck. Then he combined both Hydrogeddons to Summon Number 39: Utopia!

 

 

Hammond discared Swap Frog from his hand to Special Summon another Swap Frog and Bridges used Effect Veiler to negate its effect. Then he returned Swap Frog to his hand and Normal Summoned it, using its effect to send Ronintoadin from his Deck to his Graveyard. Next, he banished Swap Frog from his Graveyard to Special Summon Ronintoadin and combined Ronintoadin with Swap Frog to Summon Gachi Gachi Gantetsu in Defense Position. He attacked Utopia with his 2800 ATK Illusory Snatcher, and Bridges negated the attack with Utopia.

 

Bridges drew Westlo next turn! He Summoned it and then activated Evo-Force to Tribute Westlo and Special Summon Vulcano from his Deck. He used Vulcano’s effect to Special Summon Cerato from his Graveyard and then combined Vulcano with Cerato to Xyz Summon Evolzar Dolkka. Dolkka attacked Gachi Gachi Gantetsu to get rid of an Xyz Material, and then Utopia attacked Gachi Gachi Gantetsu to detach another Xyz Material from it.

 

Hammond Tributed Treeborn Frog to Summoon Dark Dust Spirit and activate its effect; but Bridges detached an Xyz Material from Dolkka to negate its effect and destroy it. Next, Illusory Snatcher attacked Dolkka, and Bridges negated the attack by detaching an Xyz Material from Utopia. Hammond activated Pot of Duality to add Snowman Eater to his hand and then ended his turn.

 

Bridges drew Effect Veiler and then attacked over Gachi Gachi Gantetsu with Dolkka to destroy it. He attacked over Illusory Snatcher with Utopia to destroy Illusory Snatcher as well.

 

Play went quickly, and a few turns later, Hammond Tribute Summoned Light and Darkness Dragon! Bridges couldn’t destroy it, and Hammond used Light and Darkness Dragon to win Duel 2!

Duel Three

 

Bridges

 

Bridges opened up Duel 3 with Evo-Diversity, Evoltile Najasho, Solemn Warning, Dimensional Prison, Forbidden Lance, and Evo-Force. He activated Evo-Diversity to add Westlo from his Deck to his hand. He Set Westlo and Solemn Warning before ending his turn.

 

Hammond Set a monster.

 

Bridges drew Jurrac Guaiba. He Flip Summoned Westlo and used its effect to Special Summon Cerato from his Deck with 2100 ATK. He attacked and destroyed Hammond’s face-down Snowman Eater with Cerato, and Snowman Eater took down Cerato with its effect. Bridges added a Westlo from his Deck to his hand with Cerato’s effect. Bridges attacked directly with Westlo and Set a monster before ending his turn.

 

Hammond activated Heavy Storm to destroy Bridges’s face-down Solemn Warning and then used Soul Exchange to Tribute Bridges’s face-down Westlo and Summon Caius. He used Caius’s effect to banish Bridges’s other Westlo and then ended his turn.

 

Bridges Summoned Jurrac Guaiba next turn and attacked Caius. He activated Forbidden Lance in the Damage Step to drop Caius down to 1600 ATK, enabling his Guaiba to destroy it in battle. Next, he combined both Guaibas to Summon Evolzar Dolkka in Attack Position! He Set Dimensional Prison before ending his turn.

 

Hammond activated another Soul Exchange next turn! He Tributed Bridges’s Dolkka to Summon Caius and used its effect to banish Bridges’s Dimensional Prison.

 

Bridges drew Enemy Controller and then Set Najasho. He activated Evo-Force to Tribute Najasho and Special Summon Evolsaur Vulcano and Evolsaur Cerato from his Deck. He used his Vulcano’s effect to Special Summon a Cerato from his Graveyard and then combined Vulcano with the Cerato it Summoned to Xyz Summon Evolzar Laggia. Next, he attacked Caius with Cerato, and activated Enemy Controller to switch Caius into Defense Position. Cerato destroyed Caius, and Bridges added Najasho to his hand with Cerato’s effect. Next, Laggia attacked Hammond directly.

 

Hammond Set a monster and passed.

 

Bridges Set Najasho and activated Evo-Force! He Special Summoned Cerato and Evolsaur Diplo from his Deck with the effects of Najasho and Evo-Force, and then combined both monsters to Summon Evolzar Dolkka. Cerato attacked and destroyed Hammond’s face-down Treeborn Frog, and Bridges added Westlo from his Deck to his hand with Cerato’s effect. Dolkka and Laggia attacked directly next, dropping Hammond down to 100 Life Points!
