Round 6 Round-Up!
We’re in Round 6, so let’s check how more of our undefeated Duelists are doing!
At Table 3, Joshua Bequette (Machina Gadgets) defeated Najib Gaines-Hanna (Dino Rabbit )
Najib opened with Rescue Rabbit and Tour Guide From the Underworld, but had to go for Gem-Knight Pearl rather than Evolzar Laggia, because of Joshua’s Machina Fortress. Joshua had a Pot of Avarice he opened with, and he couldn’t use for almost the entire Duel. Najib was in total control up to the very end, but that Pot of Avarice was able to give Joshua a Fiendish Chain and a Green Gadget, which let him block an attack and finally get things going with Gear Gigant X, gaining a bunch of free cards.
Najib didn’t draw into much in the second Duel, starting with a hand of Kabazauls and 3 Forbidden Lances, but no other monsters. He had no way to make any of his Deck’s usual moves.
At Table 5, Alexander Reed (Chaos Dragons) defeated Ken Duong (Wind-Ups)
Ken started his first turn with Wind-Up Magician and Wind-Up Shark, letting him bring out Number 16: Shock Master! Ken called Spells with Shock Master’s effect. Alexander summoned Card Trooper, getting a few things into his Graveyard. He was able to stall a bit until Shock Master ran out of Xyz Materials, then managed to get Red-Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon, Lightpulsar Dragon, and Dark Armed Dragon out, wiping out all of Ken’s monsters!
Ken started off Duel 2 with yet another Shock Master! Alexander hid behind Wind-Up Zenmaines, Ryko, Lightsworn Hunter, and other cards, but wasn’t able to mount a comeback.
Duel 3 began in End of Match procedures. Alexander started with Charge of the Light Brigade for Ryko, and then used Tour Guide From the Underworld to help summon Wind-Up Zenmaines. Ken once again went off with Magician and Shark, but this time Alexander had Maxx “C” to draw, as he put it, “like twelve cards” thanks to all of Ken’s Special Summons. Ken filled his field and passed, hoping to stall another turn, but Alexander’s hand let him explode with Black Luster Soldier – Envoy of the Beginning, Darkflare Dragon, and 2 Lightpulsar Dragon. Ken used Torrential Tribute, but Lightpulsar Dragon just revived Red-Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon to secure the Match.
At Table 6, David Owens (Geargia) defeated Scott Pulera (Wind-Ups)
Scott began with Thunder King Rai-Oh, Compulsory Evacuation Device, and Starlight Road. David took out Rai-Oh with Geargiarsenal and Forbidden Lance, then used Geargiarsenal to summon Geargiarmor. He had Compulsory Evacuation Device and Dimensional Prison to protect it. Geargiarmor was so well protected, it was able to build up a ton of free cards and guarantee David’s victory.
They went into End of Round procedures in the middle of Duel 2. David was able to sit behind a Machina Fortress equipped with Machina Gearframe for several turns, with Scott trying to survive with Wind-Up Rabbit until he could draw something, but it just didn’t pan out.
