8-year-old Nathan Tackett traveled here from Ohio to compete this weekend, and now he has a 2-1 record in the Dragon Duel! 12-year-old Adrian Salgado from Chicago has the same record. Salgado will be taking his Samurai Deck against Tackett’s Gladiator Beasts in this Round 4 Feature Match that will determine who advances with a 3-1 record!

 

Duel One

 

 

Salgado opened up Duel 1 with Six Samurai United, Kagemusha of the Six Samurai, Asceticism of the Six Samurai, Reinforcement of the Army, Elder of the Six Samurai, and Enishi, Shien’s Chancellor. He activated Six Samurai United and then used Reinforcement of the Army to add Legendary Six Samurai – Kageki from his Deck to his hand. Then he Summoned it and activated its effect to Special Summon Kagemusha of the Six Samurai from his hand. He added 2 Bushido Counters to his Six Samurai United when he Summoned Kageki and Kagemusha, and then sent it to the Graveyard to draw 2 cards.  He Tuned Kageki and Kagemusha together to Synchro Summon Legendary Six Samurai – Shi En next, and Set a card to his back row before ending his turn.

 

Tackett activated Smashing Ground, and Salgado negated it with Shi En’s effect; but then Tackett used another Smashing Ground to destroy Shi En! Tackett Set a card to each zone before passing.

 

Salgado activated Mystical Space Typhoon to destroy Tackett’s face-down Book of Moon. He Special Summoned Elder of the Six Samurai and then used Asceticism of the Six Samurai to Special Summon Kagemusha of the Six Samurai from his Deck. He Special Summoned Legendary Six Samurai – Kizan next, and then banished Kagemusha and Kageki from his Graveyard to Special Summon Enishi, Shien’s Chancellor. He activated Shien’s Smoke Signal to add Hand of the Six Samurai from his Deck to his hand, and then Tuned Kagemusha with Kizan to Synchro Summon Naturia Barkion. Enishi, Shien’s Chancellor attacked and destroyed Tackett’s face-down Gladiator Beast Hoplomus and then Elder, Enishi, and Barkion attacked Tackett directly.

 

Tackett activated Dark Hole to clear the field! He Summoned Gladiator Beast Bestiari next and attacked directly, dealing 1500 points of damage to Salgado. At the end of the Battle Phase, he tagged out Bestiari to Summon Gladiator Beast Laquari from his Deck.

 

Salgado activated Shien’s Smoke Signal to add Elder of the Six Samurai to his hand and then Special Summoned it. Next, he Normal Summoned Hand of the Six Samurai and combined his Hand with his Elder to Xyz Summon Wind-Up Zenmaines in Defense Position.

 

Tackett Set a card to his back row and then Normal Summoned Gladiator Beast Murmillo. He attacked Zenmaines with Murmillo, costing himself 1300 Life Points.

 

 

Salgado drew a card and passed.

 

Tackett Set a card to his back row.

 

Salgado drew Shien’s Dojo and activated it.

 

Tackett Summoned another Gladiator Beast Murmillo next turn and fused it with his on-field Murmillo and Laquari to Summon Gladiator Beast Heraklinos! He attacked Zenmaines with Heraklinos.

 

 

Salgado detached an Xyz Material to protect Zenmaines, and destroyed Heraklinos in the End Phase with the effect of Zenmaines.

 

Salgado Set a monster.

 

Tackett activated Mystical Space Typhoon to destroy Six Samurai United.

 

Salgado Flip Summoned Kagemusha, and Tackett flipped Torrential Tribute to destroy Kagemusha and take another Xyz Material from Zenmaines. Salgado activated Monster Reborn next, in order to Special Summon Legendary Six Samurai – Shi En. Tackett activated Bottomless Trap Hole, and when Salgado negated it with Shi En, Tackett used Torrential Tribute to wipe out Shi En and Zenmaines!

 

Tackett drew his own Monster Reborn while he had no cards in his hand or on his field! He used it to Special Summon Gladiator Beast Heraklinos and attacked directly with it!

 

Salgado drew Mirror Force and Set it.

 

Tackett attacked with Heraklinos, and when Salgado used Mirror Force, Tackett didn’t negate it with Heraklinos’s effect. His Heraklinos was destroyed! Tackett Summoned Gladiator Beast Samnite in Main Phase 2.

 

Salgado Summoned Legendary Six Samurai – Enishi and put a Bushido Counter on his Shien’s Dojo. He attacked Samnite with Enishi. Samnite was destroyed, and Tackett dropped down to 4100 Life Points.

 

Tackett drew a monster and Set it.

 

Salgado drew Great Shogun Shien next turn. He attacked Tackett’s face-down Gladiator Beast Retiari to destroy it and then passed to Tackett.

 

Tackett Set a monster.

 

Salgado drew Double-Edged Sword Technique and Set it.

 

Tackett activated Smashing Ground to destroy Legendary Six Samurai – Enishi and passed.

 

Salgado drew Solemn Warning and then activated Double-Edged Sword Technique to Special Summon Kagemusha of the Six Samurai and Legendary Six Samurai – Enishi from his Graveyard. He added a Bushido Counter to his Dojo, but had nothing left in his Deck to Special Summon with it. He Special Summoned Great Shogun Shien next, and then Tributed Great Shogun Shien, Kagemusha, and Enishi to Summon Obelisk the Tormentor!

 

Tackett drew Gladiator Beast Darius and Set it.

 

Salgado Summoned Kizan and used it to attack and destroy the face-down Darius. Then Obelisk attacked directly to drop Tackett down to 100 Life Points!

 

Tackett Set another Gladiator Beast Darius next turn.

 

Salgado activated Asceticism of the Six Samurai to target his Kizan and Special Summon The Six Samurai – Zanji from his Deck. Kizan attacked and destroyed Tackett’s face-down Darius, and then Obelisk attacked directly to wipe out the last of Tackett’s Life Points!

Duel Two

 

 

Tackett Set a monster and a card to his back row.

 

Salgado opened up with 2 copies of Legendary Six Samurai – Kizan, Mystical Space Typhoon, Asceticism of the Six Samurai, Shien’s Smoke Signal, and Trap Stun. He activated Mystical Space Typhoon to destroy Tackett’s face-down Book of Moon and then activated Shien’s Smoke Signal to add Kagemusha of the Six Samurai from his Deck to his hand. He Normal Summoned it and then Special Summoned 2 Kizans from his hand. Next, he used Asceticism of the Six Samurai, targeting Kizan to Special Summon The Six Samurai – Zanji from his Deck. Kizan attacked Salgado’s face-down Gladiator Beast Hoplomus, and Hoplomus withstood the attack. In Main Phase 2, Salgado Tuned Kagemusha with Kizan to Summon Naturia Barkion and then combined Kizan with Zanji to Xyz Summon Blade Armor Ninja. Salgado Set Trap Stun before ending his turn.

 

Tackett activated Dark Hole to destroy all monsters on the field! He Summoned Gladiator Beast Laquari next, and attacked directly to drop Salgado down to 6200 Life Points.

 

Salgado drew Obelisk the Tormentor and passed.

 

Tackett Special Summoned 2 copies of Test Tiger from his hand and then Tributed one of them to send his on-field Laquari back into his Deck and Special Summon Darius in its place. Then he used Darius’s effect to Special Summon Gladiator Beast Hoplomus from his Graveyard. Next, he fused Darius with Hoplomus to Summon Gladiator Beast Essedarii! Essedarii and Test Tiger attacked, dropping Salgado down to 3100 Life Points.

 

Salgado drew Elder of the Six Samurai and Special Summoned it in Defense Position.

 

Tackett attacked and destroyed Elder of the Six Samurai with Test Tiger and then attacked directly with Gladiator Beast Essedarii to drop Salgado down to 600 Life Points.

 

Salgado drew Monster Reborn next turn! He activated it to Special Summon Naturia Barkion from his Graveyard.

 

Tackett activated Smashing Ground to destroy Naturia Barkion and then attacked directly with Essedarii to wipe out the rest of Salgado’s Life Points!

 

Nathan Tackett wins Duel 2 with Gladiator Beast Essedarii! Adrian Salgado will be going first in the final Duel of the Match!

 

Duel Three

 

Salgado opened up Duel 3 with Asceticism of the Six Samurai, Legendary Six Samurai – Kizan, Mystical Space Typhoon, Great Shogun Shien, Trap Stun, and Legendary Six Samurai – Enishi.

 

 

He Normal Summoned Enishi and then Special Summoned Kizan and Great Shogun Shien from his hand. He activated Asceticism of the Six Samurai targeting Kizan and Special Summoned Zanji from his Deck with it. He Set Trap Stun and then combined Zanji with Enishi to Xyz Summon Blade Armor Ninja.

 

 

Kizan was destroyed by the effect of Asceticism of the Six Samurai in the End Phase.

 

Tackett activated Smashing Ground to destroy Great Shogun Shien and then activated Mystical Space Typhoon to destroy Salgado’s face-down Trap Stun. He Set a card to each zone and passed.

 

Salgado activated Mystical Space Typhoon to destroy Tackett’s face-down Mirror Force and then detached an Xyz Material from Blade Armor Ninja to allow it to attack twice. He attacked Tackett’s face-down Hoplomus to destroy it, and then attacked directly. Salgado Set Solemn Warning before ending his turn.

 

Tackett Set a card to each zone and passed.

 

Salgado drew another Solemn Warning and Set it. He activated his Ninja’s effect and then attacked with it, but lost his Ninja to Dimensional Prison.

 

Tackett Normal Summoned Gladiator Beast Darius and then Flip Summoned Gladiator Beast Retiari. He attacked directly with Retiari and Darius, dropping Salgado down to 5100 Life Points.

 

Salgado drew Six Samurai United and activated it.

 

Tackett Summoned Gladiator Beast Equeste and attacked directly with Gladiator Beast Retiari, Gladiator Beast Darius, and Gladiator Beast Equeste. Salgado dropped down to 600 Life Points. At the end of the Battle Phase, Tackett tagged out Gladiator Beast Retiari to Special Summon Laquari from his Deck. Then he fused Laquari with Darius and Equeste to Summon Gladiator Beast Heraklinos from his Extra Deck!

 

 

Salgado drew Musakani Magatama next turn and conceded, unable to destroy Heraklinos.
