Saturday Dragon Duel Round 5 Feature Match: Joshua Bridges vs. Shivum Dang

12-year-olds Joshua Bridges from Knoxville, Tennessee and Shivum Dang from Overland Park, Kansas are the last 2 undefeated Duelists in today’s Dragon Duel tournament! Joshua Bridges won a Feature Match earlier today with his Evol Deck, and now he’s back, competing against Shivum Dang’s Chaos Dragon Deck. Only one of these Duelists will be able to claim the victory and become Saturday’s YCS Indianapolis Dragon Duel Champion.

Bridges opened up Duel 1 with Evo-Diversity, Enemy Controller, Forbidden Lance, Solemn Warning, Bottomless Trap Hole, and Evolsaur Cerato.

He activated Evo-Diversity to add Evoltile Westlo from his Deck to his hand and then Set Westlo to the field. Bridges Set Solemn Warning before ending his turn.

 

Dang Set a card to his back row and then tried to Summon Lyla, Lightsworn Sorceress; but Bridges activated Solemn Warning and gave up 2000 Life Points to negate its Summon.

 

Bridges drew a card and Dang activated Royal Decree! Bridges Flip Summoned Westlo to Special Summon Evolsaur Diplo from his Deck, and used Diplo’s effect to destroy Dang’s Decree. Next, he Summoned Cerato and combined it with Diplo to Summon Evolzar Laggia. Laggia and Westlo attacked directly, dropping Dang down to 4900 Life Points.

 

Dang Summoned Jain, Lightsworn Paladin next turn, but it was banished by Bridges’s Bottomless Trap Hole.

 

Bridge Set Evoltile Najasho and then activated Evo-Force! He Tributed Najasho and then Special Summoned 2 copies of Cerato from his Deck with the effects of Najasho and Evo-Force. Direct attacks from Laggia, Westlo, and Dolkka finished Dang off!

Duel Two

Dang started off Duel 2 by Setting a card to his back row and activating Reasoning! Bridges called Level 4, and Dang revealed Chaos Sorcerer followed by Lyla, Lightsworn Sorceress. Both monsters were sent to the Graveyard, and Dang banished them to Summon Darkflare Dragon. Next, he Normal Summoned Lord of D.! He activated his Darkflare Dragon’s effect by discarding Eclipse Wyvern. He sent Lightpulsar Dragon from his Deck to his Graveyard and banished Reasoning from his Graveyard with Darkflare’s effect. Then he banished Red-Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon from his Deck with his Eclipse Wyvern’s effect.

 

Bridges opened up with Evoltile Najasho, 2 copies of Evo-Force, 2 copies of Evo-Diversity, and Hydrogeddon. He Set Najasho and then activated Evo-Force to Tribute it. He Special Summoned Diplo and Cerato from his Deck, and Dang banished the Diplo with Bottomless Trap Hole. Cerato attacked and destroyed Lord of D., dealing 900 points of damage to Dang and destroying his monster. Cerato’s effect activated to add Najasho from Bridges’s Deck to his hand.

 

Dang Set a card to his back row. He attacked and destroyed Cerato with Darkflare Dragon, and Bridges lose 300 Life Points.

 

Bridges drew Evoltile Najasho next turn. He Set it and activated Evo-Force again, Tributing Najasho to Special Summon Diplo and Evolsaur Vulcano from his Deck with the effects of Evo-Force and Najasho. He used Vulcano’s effect next, to Special Summon Evolsaur Cerato from his Graveyard. Then he combined Vulcano with Diplo to Xyz Summon Number 39: Utopia! Utopia attacked and destroyed Darkflare Dragon, and Dang lost 100 Life Points.

 

Dang sent Necro Gardna and Ryko, Lightsworn Hunter from his hand to his Graveyard to Special Summon Lightpulsar Dragon from his Graveyard. Then he tried to attack Number 39: Utopia; but Bridges negated the attack by detaching an Xyz Material from Utopia.

 

Bridges Summoned Hydrogeddon next turn and combined it with Cerato to Xyz Summon Evolzar Dolkka. Utopia attacked Lightpulsar Dragon, destroying both monsters, and Lightpulsar Dragon’s effect activated; but Bridges negated it with Dolkka. Next, Dolkka attacked directly. When Dang tried to negate the attack by banishing Necro Gardna from his Graveyard, Bridges detached an Xyz Material from Dolkka to negate its effect and deal 2300 points of damage to Dang.

 

Dang Set a monster and passed.

 

Bridges activated Evo-Diversity to add Westlo from his Deck to his hand. Then he attacked Dang’s face-down Jain with Dolkka to destroy it. Bridges Set Westlo before ending his turn.

 

Dang activated Charge of the Light Brigade by sending Royal Decree, Jain, Lightsworn Paladin, and Heavy Storm from the top of his Deck to his Graveyard. He added Ryko, Lightsworn Hunter from his Deck to his hand and Set it before ending his turn.

 

Bridges drew Forbidden Lance. He activated Evo-Diversity to search his Deck for Cerato and add it to his hand. He Flip Summoned Westlo next, and used its effect to Special Summon Evolsaur Vulcano from his Deck. He used Vulcano’s effect to Special Summon Cerato from the Graveyard, and then combined Vulcano with Cerato to Xyz Summon Evolzar Dolkka. Bridges Normal Summoned Cerato next. Westlo attacked Ryko to destroy it, and Bridges negated its effect by detaching an Xyz Material from Dolkka. Direct attacks from both Dolkkas and Cerato finished Dang off!
