Ben Leverett is certainly well known in the tournament scene. This Dragon Duelist has been two fourteen YCS events! He’s here from Atlanta with Wind-Ups. Lance Bradshaw is an Indianapolis native, and he’s banking on his HERO deck which is, as he says, “kinda weird”. It’s apparently working for him though, because he’s playing at Table 1!

Duel 1

Lance began with a hand of E – Emergency Call, Fossil Dyna Pachycephalo, Dark Hole, Mirror Force, Heavy Storm, and Miracle Fusion. He led with E – Emergency Call to get Elemental HERO Stratos, and he Normal Summoned it. Stratos searched out Elemental HERO Neos Alius, putting it in Lance’s hand. He Set Mirror Force and ended his turn.

Ben Set a monster and two back row.

Lance drew Pot of Duality. He activated it, revealing Gemini Spark, Mirror Force, and Super Polymerization. He chose to keep Super Polymerization. He cleared the board next with Heavy Storm, destroying his own Mirror Force and Ben’s Torrential Tribute and Solemn Warning. He Normal Summoned Neos Alius, then sent it to attack Sangan. Sangan gave Ben a Wind-Up Shark, and Stratos attacked directly. Lance Set Super Polymerization.

Ben activated Wind-Up Factory. He normal Summoned Wind-Up Rabbit, then Special Summoned Shark. Factory gave him another Shark in his hand. He activated Shark’s effect to become Level 3, and Lance Chained Super Polymerization! He discarded Fossil Dyna to fuse Stratos with Shark, Summoning Elemental HERO Absolute Zero! Ben passed.

Lance drew Bottomless Trap Hole. He played his Miracle Fusion, banishing Stratos and Fossil Dyna to summon Elemental HERO Gaia! He targeted Rabbit with it, and Rabbit banished itself. Factory gave Ben a Magician, but it didn’t matter as Gaia, Zero, and Neos Alius all attacked directly to finish Ben off!

Lance takes a quick first Duel with multiple HERO Fusions!

Duel 2

Ben started the second Duel with Wind-Up Factory. He Normal Summoned Wind-Up Rabbit, banishing it so Factory could add Wind-Up Shark to his hand. He Set two cards to his back row.

Lance had Monster Reborn, Book of Moon, Creature Swap, Solemn Warning, Reinforcement of the Army, and Starlight Road. Reinforcement added Elemental HERO Stratos to his hand, and he Normal Summoned it successfully! Stratos added Elemental HERO Neos Alius to Lance’s hand, then it attacked directly. He Set Warning, Book, and Road.

Ben returned Rabbit to play. He tried to play his Wind-Up Magician, but Lance negated the Summon with Warning. He passed.

Lance drew Miracle Fusion. He Normal Summoned Neos Alius, then stacked Stratos and Neos Alius to Xyz Summon Heroic Champion – Excalibur, but Ben returned it to the Extra Deck with Compulsory Evacuation Device. Lance continued with Miracle Fusion, banishing his two HEROes for Elemental HERO The Shining! It attacked Rabbit, Ben played Dimensional Prison, and Lance saved it with Book of Moon. Ben activated Rabbit, and Factory gave him Magician.

Ben returned Rabbit to play. He summoned Magician, Special Summoned Shark, and Magician brought out another Magician. Factory added Shark to his hand. He activated Shark’s effect to become Level 3, and Magician summoned Rat from the Deck in defense position. He overlayed the Magicians for Photon Papilloperative, turned Rat to attack position with its effect, and had Rat revive Shark. Shark became Level 3, then he Xyz Summoned Wind-Up Carrier Zenmaity. Zenmaity detached Rat to summon Shark from Ben’s Deck, and he Special Summoned Shark from his hand. He combined his Magician and 2 Sharks for Number 16: Shock Master! Shock Master prevented Lance from using Traps. It destroyed The Shining, which gave Lance his Stratos and Neos Alius back, then Zenmaity and Papilloperative attacked directly. The score stood at 6200 to 2400 with Ben leading.

Lance drew Bottomless Trap Hole. He Normal Summoned Stratos, adding Neos Alius from his Deck to his hand. He played Monster Reborn targeting Wind-Up Shark next, and Ben Chained Maxx “C”! Ben drew a card from the Special Summon. Lance had no choice, so he continued by stacking Stratos and Shark to summon Number 39: Utopia, giving Ben another free draw from Maxx “C”. Utopia took down Shock Master, and Lance Set Bottomless Trap Hole.

Ben returned Rabbit to play in his Standby Phase. He Normal Summoned Rat, then used it to revive Shark. He changed Shark to Level 3, then stacked Shark and Rat for Temtempo the Percussion Djinn! It stole a material from Utopia, and Ben played Messenger of Peace.

Lance drew King Tiger Wanghu. He Normal Summoned Neos Alius.

Ben chose not to pay for Messenger of Peace. He detached an Xyz Material from Zenmaity to summon Wind-Up Rabbit from his Deck. He overlayed his two Rabbits to Xyz Summon Wind-Up Zenmaines. Temtempo took Utopia’s last material, then attacked Utopia. With no Xyz Materials, Utopia destroyed itself, triggering a replay and allowing Temtempo to attack Neos Alius instead. Lance conceded, knowing he wouldn’t survive against Ben’s massive field.

Ben Leverett evens the score! Lance will be playing first in the final Duel.

Duel 3

Lance began the final Duel of the Match with Stratos, Solemn Warning, Starlight Road, Pot of Duality, Snowman Eater, and Compulsory Evacuation Device. He Normal Summoned Stratos, adding Neos Alius to his hand. He played Pot of Duality, revealing Heavy Storm, Solemn Warning, and Torrential Tribute. He chose Torrential, then Set it along with Warning and Compulsory Evacuation Device.

Ben destroyed Torrential Tribute with Mystical Space Typhoon, then Set one card to each zone.

Lance drew Miracle Fusion. He played Neos Alius and sent it to destroy Ben’s Sangan, which gave Ben a Wind-Up Rat. Stratos attacked directly.

Ben Summoned Wind-Up Magician and Lance chose to negate the summon with Solemn Warning.

Lance drew Elemental HERO Bubbleman. He overlayed Stratos and Neos Alius for Blade Armor Ninja, and Ben returned bounced it back to the Extra Deck with Compulsory Evacuation Device. Lance continued with Miracle Fusion, banishing both HEROes for The Shining! He Set Snowman Eater, then Special Summoned Bubbleman. Bubbleman attacked directly, but The Shining’s attack was deflected by another Compulsory Evacuation Device.

Ben summoned Wind-Up Rat, and Lance used his own Compulsory Evacuation Device.

Lance drew Fossil Dyna Pachycephalo! He thought a while, deciding if he wanted to Set or Summon it. He chose to Normal Summon it, and attacked with it and Bubbleman.

Ben played Soul Taker to destroy Fossil Dyna next turn, then Summoned Wind-Up Rat again. It revived Magician, and he Special Summoned Wind-Up Shark. Magician summoned another Rat from the Deck. Ben overlayed Shark and Magician to Xyz Summon Photon Papilloperative, which turned his new Rat to Attack Position. Rat then revived Magician, and he overlayed both Rats to Xyz Summon Wind-Up Carrier Zenmaity! Zenmaity detached an Xyz Material to Special Summon another Magician from the Deck, and the first Magician Summoned Shark right when time in the round was called! Ben used his 2 Magicians and Shark to summon Number 16: Shock Master, calling Trap Cards. He sent Shock Master to destroy Bubbleman. Papilloperative attacked Snowman Eater, which destroyed Shock Master. Zenmaity attacked directly.

Lance drew Heavy Storm, no help now. He Set it and passed.

Ben used Zenmaity to summon Wind-Up Rabbit from his Deck. He Normal Summoned Rat, then had it Special Summon another Rat. Both were used to Xyz Summon Wind-Up Zenmaines. He sent all his monsters to attack, and Lance offered the handshake!
