Dragon Duel Round 3: Joshua Bridges vs. Christopher Lee
We’re halfway through the Dragon Duels of Day 1 here at YCS Providence. Joshua Bridges is here from Knoxville, TN, and he’s decided to use Evols today. Christopher Lee made the trip from Philadelphia, PA, with an Inzektor Deck.
Duel 1
Lee began with Pot of Duality revealing Inzektor Giga-Mantis, Foolish Burial, and Forbidden Lance. He chose Burial, and played it to put Inzektor Ladybug in the Graveyard. He Normal Summoned Inzektor Centipede and equipped the Ladybug to it, then sent it to the Graveyard, triggering Centipede. Centipede searched out Inzektor Hornet and put it in Lee’s hand. He Set 2 back row.
Bridges started with a hand of Evolsaur Vulcano, Evolsaur Cerato, Evoltile Najasho, Forbidden Lance, Dimensional Prison, and Share the Pain. He Set Najasho and activated Share the Pain! Najasho and Centipede were Tributed, but Lee used Solemn Warning to negate Najasho’s effect. Bridges Set Prison and Lance.
Lee Normal Summoned Inzektor Dragonfly and had it equip Hornet. Hornet targeted Forbidden Lance to destroy it, and it was chained to weaken Dragonfly. Dragonfly summoned Centipede from the Deck, which equipped Hornet. Hornet destroyed Dimensional Prison, and Centipede searched out Giga-Mantis. Dragonfly and Centipede attacked directly. Lee Set a back row card.
Bridges drew Bottomless Trap Hole. He Summoned Cerato and destroyed Dragonfly, then Set Bottomless Trap Hole.
Lee equipped Hornet to Centipede and destroyed Bottomless Trap Hole. Centipede searched out Giga-Mantis. He flipped Call of the Haunted to revive Dragonfly, which equipped Hornet. Hornet destroyed Cerato, and Bridges conceded!
Christopher Lee takes a quick win with his powerful Inzektors! Both Duelists moved to their Side Decks, and the second Duel was underway shortly.
Duel 2
Bridges started off this time with Share the Pain, Evoltile Najasho, Jurrac Guaiba, Dimensional Prison, Evoltile Westlo, and Evo-Diversity. He Set Westlo.
Lee Normal Normal Summoned Summoner Monk! He discarded Messenger of Peace to Special Summon another Monk. He discarded Dark Hole so the new Monk could bring out Armageddon Knight. The Knight sent Inzektor Hornet to the Graveyard. He overlayed all of his monsters to Xyz Summon Number 16: Shock Master! Lee called Monster Cards with Shock Master, then destroyed Westlo. He Set a back row.
Bridges drew Najasho. He Set it and played Share the Pain, Tributing Najasho. Lee responded with Forbidden Lance to keep Shock Master around! Shock Master was still keeping Najasho from using its effect. Bridges Set Dimensional Prison.
Lee used Shock Master’s effect, calling Trap Cards this time. He Special Summoned Dark Armed Dragon, then Normal Summoned Thunder King Rai-Oh. Rai-Oh, Shock Master, and Dark Armed Dragon all attacked directly. In Main Phase 2, Dark Armed Dragon destroyed Dimensional Prison by banishing a Monk. (Waiting to destroy Prison until Main Phase 2 was a great move. Lee was already protected by Shock Master, so leaving Prison on the field meant Lee wouldn’t have to worry about Gorz the Emissary of Darkness hitting the field. Gorz itself wouldn’t have been a problem thanks to Dark Armed Dragon, but getting rid of it would have wasted all of Dark Armed Dragon’s potential destruction.)
Bridges drew Solemn Warning and new his Evols had no way to break through Lee’s imposing field!
Joshua Bridges just can’t get his Evol tricks rolling, and Christopher Lee moves ahead undefeated!
