Joshua Furlong traveled here from New Jersey with his Mermail Deck to compete in the YCS this weekend. Nicholas Jadusingh is from Kingston, Jamaica and is competing with Fire Fists. Both of these Duelists are currently undefeated in their second YCS, but only one of them will be able to advance with a 4-0 record.

Furlong opened up Duel 1 with Deep Sea Diva, Atlantean Dragoons, Atlantean Marksman, Genex Controller, Mermail Abyssmegalo, and Mermail Abysslinde. He Set Mermail Abysslinde and then passed.

Jadusingh Summoned Rescue Rabbit and banished it to Special Summon 2 copies of Gene-Warped Warwolf from his Deck. He combined them to Xyz Summon Abyss Dweller and detached an Xyz Material from it to activate its effect. He attacked and destroyed Mermail Abysslinde, stopping its effect with his Abyss Dweller. Jadusingh Set 2 cards to his back row before passing his turn.

Furlong drew Atlantean Infantry and Jadusingh detached an Xyz Material from Abyss Dweller to stop all effects that activate in the Graveyard for the rest of the turn. Furlong Set Genex Controller before passing.

Jadusingh Summoned Rescue Rabbit and then activated Monster Reborn to Special Summon Gene-Warped Warwolf from his Graveyard. He combined Gene-Warped Warwolf with Rescue Rabbit to Xyz Summon another Abyss Dweller. He detached an Xyz Material from Abyss Dweller to stop all Graveyard effects and then attacked Genex Controller to destroy it. He attacked directly with his other Abyss Dweller before ending his turn.

Furlong drew Mermail Abysspike and then Jadusingh activated the effect of his Abyss Dweller in Furlong’s Standby Phase to stop all Graveyard effects for the rest of the turn.

Furlong Summoned Deep Sea Diva and used its effect to Special Summon Atlantean Infantry from his Deck. He combined his Level 2 monsters to Summon Gachi Gachi Gantetsu in Defense Position and then ended his turn.

Jadusingh Summoned Gene-Warped Warwolf and passed.

Furlong drew another Mermail Abysspike and then tried to Normal Summon it; but Jadusingh activated Solemn Warning and negated its Summon by giving up 2000 Life Points. Next, Furlong discarded Atlantean Dragoons and Atlantean Marksman to Special Summon Mermail Abyssmegalo from his hand. He used Abyssmegalo’s effect to add Abyss-sphere from his Deck to his hand, he used Atlantean Dragoons’s effect to add Mermail Abyssmegalo from his Deck to his hand, and he used Atlantean Marksman to target Jadusingh’s face-down Forbidden Lance for destruction; but Jadusingh Chained it to reduce Megalo’s ATK by 800. Next, Furlong discarded Mermail Abysspike and Atlantean Infantry to Summon another Mermail Abyssmegalo from his hand. He added Abyss-sphere from his Deck to his hand with its effect, and destroyed Gene-Warped Warwolf with the effect of his Infantry. Both copies of Abyssmegalo attacked and destroyed Jadusingh’s 2 Abyss Dwellers, dropping Jadusingh down to 5000 Life Points. Furlong Set Abyss-sphere in Main Phase 2, and then combined both copies of Abyssmegalo to Xyz Summon Mermail Abyssgaios.

Jadusingh Set a card to his back row and passed.

Furlong attacked directly with Abyssgaios to drop Jadusingh down to 1800 Life Points, and then flipped Abyss-sphere to Special Summon Mermail Abyssmegalo from his Deck. A direct attack from Mermail Abyssmegalo finished Jadusingh off!

Joshua Furlong fights back against two Abyss Dwellers to win Duel 1 with Mermail Abyssgaios!

Nicholas Jadusingh will be going first in Duel 2, fighting back with his Fire Fists.

Jadusingh started off Duel 2 by Setting 5 cards to his back row.

Furlong opened up Duel 2 with Solemn Warning, Atlantean Dragoons, Mind Crush, Dark Hole, Moulinglacia the Elemental Lord, and Mermail Abysslinde. He Set Abysslinde along with Solemn Warning and Mind Crush before passing. In his End Phase, Jadusingh flipped 2 copies of Mystical Space Typhoon to destroy both of Furlong’s Trap Cards.

Jadusingh Summoned Brotherhood of the Fire Fist – Gorilla next turn. He entered his Battle Phase and then flipped Soul Drain by giving up 1000 Life Points. He attacked and destroyed Mermail Abysslinde, stopping its effect with Soul Drain and using his Gorilla’s effect to Set Fire Formation – Tenki from his Deck. He flipped Tenki in Main Phase 2 in order to add Brotherhood of the Fire Fist - Bear to his hand. He Set a card to his back row before passing.

Furlong drew Mystical Space Typhoon and Set it.

Jadusingh used his Gorilla’s effect to send Tenki to the Graveyard and target Furlong’s Mystical Space Typhoon for destruction; but Furlong Chained Mystical Space Typhoon to destroy Soul Drain. Next, Jadusingh Summoned Brotherhood of the Fire Fist - Bear. He attacked directly with Bear and Gorilla, and used his Bear’s effect to Set Fire Formation – Tenki from his Deck. Furlong dropped down to 4800 Life Points. In Main Phase 2, Jadusingh flipped his Tenki to add Brotherhood of the Fire Fist – Dragon to his hand. Next, Jadusingh combined his Bear with his Gorilla to Summon Brotherhood of the Fire Fist – Tiger King from his Deck.

He used Tiger King’s effect to Set Fire Formation – Tensu from his Deck and then flipped Tensu face-up. Next, he used Tensu’s effect to perform a second Normal Summon, Summoning Brotherhood of the Fire Fist – Dragon.

Furlong drew Atlantean Marksman next turn. Furlong used Dark Hole to try to clear the field; but Jadusingh flipped Starlight Road to negate it and Special Summon Stardust Dragon! Furlong Set Marksman and then ended his turn.

Jadusingh Summoned Dragon next turn and then used his second Normal Summon to Summon Bear. He combined both Dragons to Summon Abyss Dweller and detached an Xyz Material from it to activate its effect. Next, he sent Tensu to the Graveyard to activate his Bear’s effect and destroy Furlong’s face-down Marksman. Direct attacks from Furlong’s swarm of monsters finished Furlong off!

Nicholas Jadusingh takes a quick victory in Duel 2, pushing the Match to a third Duel with his Fire Fist Deck!

Joshua Furlong opened up Duel 3 with Mermail Abysspike, Solemn Warning, Mirror Force, Mystical Space Typhoon, Mermail Abyssmegalo, and Deep Sea Diva.

He Set Mystical Space Typhoon and Solemn Warning before passing to Jadusingh.

Jadusingh Summoned Rescue Rabbit and activated its effect by banishing it; but Furlong flipped Solemn Warning and gave up 2000 Life Points to negate its effect. Next, Jadusingh activated Fire Formation – Tensu, and Furlong Chained Mystical Space Typhoon; but Jadusingh activated another Fire Formation – Tensu next, and used it to Normal Summon Brotherhood of the Fire Fist - Bear. He attacked directly with Bear, dropping Furlong down to 4300 Life Points, and then used his Bear’s effect to Set Fire Formation – Tenki from his Deck. He flipped Tenki in Main Phase 2 to add Brotherhood of the Fire Fist - Bear from his Deck to his hand.

Furlong drew Twister next turn. He Set Mirror Force and Twister before passing his turn.

Jadusingh tried attacking directly with Bear; but Furlong flipped Mirror Force and destroyed it. In Main Phase 2, Jadusingh Normal Summoned Thunder King Rai-Oh.

Furlong drew Atlantean Dragoons next turn. He Normal Summoned Deep Sea Diva and used its effect to Special Summon Atlantean Marksman from his Deck. Next, he Tuned his 2 monsters together to try to Summon T.G. Hyper Librarian; but Jadusingh sent Thunder King Rai-Oh to the Graveyard to negate its Summon. Furlong followed up by discarded Atlantean Dragoons and Mermail Abysspike to Special Summon Mermail Abyssmegalo. He used his Mermail Abyssmegalo’s effect to add Abyss-sphere from his Deck to his hand, and used Atlantean Dragoons’s effect to add Moulinglacia the Elemental Lord from his Deck to his hand. Furlong had 4 WATER monsters in his Graveyard. Furlong Set Abyss-sphere before ending his turn.

Jadusingh Summoned Brotherhood of the Fire Fist - Bear next turn, and Furlong flipped Twister, paying 500 Life Points to destroy Fire Formation – Tensu. Next, Jadusingh used his Bear’s effect to send Tenki to the Graveyard and destroy Mermail Abyssmegalo. He attacked directly with Bear to drop Furlong down to 2200 Life Points, and used his Bear’s effect to Set Fire Formation – Tenki from his Deck. Jadusingh Set 2 more cards in Main Phase 2 before ending his turn.

Furlong drew Solemn Warning. He Special Summoned Moulinglacia the Elemental Lord and used its effect to send Brotherhood of the Fire Fist – Dragon from Jadusingh’s hand to his Graveyard. Then he attacked over Bear to destroy it and drop Jadusingh down to 4400 Life Points. Furlong Set Solemn Warning before ending his turn; but Jadusingh flipped Mystical Space Typhoon to destroy it in Furlong’s End Phase.

Jadusingh flipped Fire Formation – Tenki and used its effect to add Brotherhood of the Fire Fist - Bear from his Deck to his hand. Next, he activated Pot of Duality, revealing Dimensional Fissure, Brotherhood of the Fire Fist – Gorilla, and Soul Drain from the top of his Deck. He added Dimensional Fissure to his hand and shuffled the other 2 cards back into his Deck. Next, he activated Dimensional Fissure. Jadusingh sent Tenki to the Graveyard to activate Bear’s effect and destroy Moulinglacia. He attacked directly with Bear, and then activated Fire Formation – Tensen in the Damage Step to give the Bear enough ATK to wipe out Furlong’s 2200 Life Points!
