Nicholas Jadusingh, from Kingston, Jamaica, is back from a Feature Match win earlier and is looking to take another with his Fire Fist Deck! He’s squaring off with Justin Meredith from Pensacola, Florida, who’s packing Mermails. It’s FIRE and WATER, a common matchup in today’s competition!

Duel 1

Meredith started with a back row card.

Jadusingh began with a hand of Monster Reborn, Brotherhood of the Fire Fist – Gorilla, Gene-Warped Warwolf, 2 Fire Formation – Tenki, and Starlight Road. He played Tenki and added Brotherhood of the Fire Fist - Bear to his hand. He Normal Summoned it and attacked directly. Meredith deflected the attack with Abyss-sphere, bringing out Mermail Abysslinde. Bear destroyed it, and Meredith Special Summoned Mermail Abysspike. He activated its effect, discarding Atlantean Dragoons. With his two searching effects, Meredith put Genex Undine and Moulinglacia the Elemental Lord into his hand. Jadusingh continued by Setting Road, Tenki, and Reborn.

Meredith played right into it by activating Heavy Storm – Jadusingh blocked it with Starlight Road and Special Summoned a Stardust Dragon! Meredith pressed on, Normal Summoning Genex Undine. He sent Dragoons to the Graveyard, then adding Genex Controller and Mermail Abyssmegalo to his hand. He discarded Deep Sea Diva and Abysspike to Special Summon Abyssmegalo, then Special Summoned Moulinglacia the Elemental Lord to strip Jadusingh of his Gorilla. Abyssmegalo Tributed Undine so it could attack twice, and Meredith moved to the Battle Phase. Moulinglacia destroyed Stardust Dragon, Abyssmegalo attacked Bear, then directly, and finally Abysspike attacked directly. Meredith Set 2 back row.

Jadusingh drew Solemn Judgment. He revived Bear with Monster Reborn, and sent Tenki to the Graveyard to destroy Moulinglacia. He flipped his Set Tenki next, adding another Bear to his hand. He Normal Summoned and it ditched Tenki to blow away Abyssmegalo. Jadusingh Xyz Summoned Brotherhood of the Fire Fist – Tiger King and it Set Fire Formation – Tensen from his Deck. Tiger King attacked Abysspike to destroy it. In Main Phase 2 Jadusingh Set Solemn Judgment, and Meredith played Abyss-sphere to get Abysslinde from his Deck. When it went down in the End Phase, he got Abyssmegalo.

Meredith destroyed Solemn Judgment with Mystical Space Typhoon, then used Salvage to get Undine and Diva to his hand. He played Undine and sent Atlantean Heavy Infantry to the Graveyard. He added Genex Controller to his hand, then blew away Tiger King with Infantry. He Tributed Undine for Abyssmegalo and passed, unable to attack after his Moulinglacia was destroyed. (Even though Abyssmegalo couldn’t abuse its effect, Meredith didn’t want Undine sitting there for a possible Bear or Gorilla to take it out and activate their effects)

Jadusingh drew Dark Hole! He played it to stay in the game, destroying Abyssmegalo. “I knew it!” Meredith laughed.

Meredith Normal Summoned Diva and brought Atlantean Marksman to the field. He attacked with Marksman and Jadusingh picked up his cards!

Duel 2

Jadusingh started off the second Duel with 2 Soul Drains, Pot of Duality, Mystical Space Typhoon, Rescue Rabbit, and Tenki. He Normal Summoned the Rabbit and banished it to get 2 Gene-Warped Warwolves from his Deck. He stacked them for Brotherhood of the Fire Fist – Tiger King, and it Set Tenki from his Deck. He activated that, adding Brotherhood of the Fire Fist - Bear to his hand. He Set Soul Drain.

Jadusingh flipped Soul Drain in the Draw Phase and Meredith had Mystical Space Typhoon. He Set 2 back row.

Jadusingh drew Forbidden Lance. He used Pot of Duality to reveal Bottomless Trap Hole, Dark Hole, and Mirror Force. He opted to take Mirror Force. He played Tenki next, adding Brotherhood of the Fire Fist – Dragon to his hand. He Normal Summoned Bear, and when Meredith used Torrential Tribute, Jadusingh used Forbidden Lance to save his Bear. It attacked directly, and its effect Set Fire Formation – Tensu. He Set his second Soul Drain.

He activated it in the Draw Phase, and this time Meredith couldn’t stop it. Meredith activated his Abyss-sphere to get Abysspike from his Deck, then played Genex Controller to Synchro Summon Black Rose Dragon and wipe the field! He Set a back row card.

Jadusingh drew Fire Formation – Tensen. He played Dragon next, and when Meredith tried to use Abyss-sphere, Jadusingh destroyed it with Mystical Space Typhoon. Dragon attacked directly, then Jadusingh Set Mirror Force and Tensen.

Meredith played Dark Hole to take out Dragon. He Set a monster.

Jadusingh drew Thunder King Rai-Oh. It destroyed Abysslinde and Meredith Special Summoned Abyssmegalo.

Meredith Normal Summoned Diva and Special Summoned Atlantean Marksman. He Tributed Marksman for Abyssmegalo, and Marksman hit Mirror Force! Abyssmegalo attacked Thunder King Rai-Oh, then directly, and Diva attacked.

Jadusingh drew Forbidden Lance and Set it.

Meredith activated Monster Reborn to revive Marksman and Tributed it for Abyssmegalo again, targeting the Lance. Jadusingh was forced to Chain it, but with Abyssmegalo attacking twice there was no way he could survive!

Justin Meredith douses the flames and moves on undefeated with his Mermail Deck!
