Billy Brake is the last remaining Mermail Duelist, and he’s not using Genex Undine. He’s up against Elijah Gersten’s Wind-Up Deck. Who shall taste victory?

Duel 1

Brake began with Abyss-squall, Abyss-sphere, Mermail Abysspike, Mermail Abysslinde, Mermail Abyssteus, and Mermail Abyssgunde. He Set Abysslinde and Abyss-sphere.

Gersten Set 2 back row and Brake used Abyss-sphere before the End Phase. It brought out Abysslinde and that went down, bringing out Abysspike. That discarded Abyssgunde to get Atlantean Marksman, and Abyssgunde revived Abysslinde.

Brake drew Deep Sea Diva. He Normal Summoned it and brought Marksman to the field. He tuned Diva to Marksman and Abysslinde for Scrap Dragon and lost it to Bottomless Trap Hole. He discarded Marksman for Abyssteus next, and Gersten negated it with Fiendish Chain. He Flip Summoned Abysslinde and attacked with it and Abysspike, then Set Abyss-squall.

Gersten Set three back row.

Brake drew Mermail Abyssmegalo. He Normal Summoned Abysspike, turned Abyssteus to defense position, and attacked with everything. In Main Phase 2 he Xyz Summoned Abyss Dweller.

Gersten Set a monster.

Brake drew Solemn Judgment. He attacked with Abyss Dweller and activated its effect. It destroyed Sangan, and Abysslinde attacked directly. Brake Set Solemn Judgment, and Gersten conceded after seeing his next draw!

Duel 2

Gersten led off with Wind-Up Rabbit and a back row card.

Brake’s hand was Deck Devastation Virus, 2 Abysspike, Abysslinde, Abyssteus, and Atlantean Heavy Infantry. He played Abysspike and discarded Abysslinde for its effect, and Gersten negated it with Fiendish Chain. Brake discarded Infantry to Special Summon Abyssteus in defense position, adding Abyssgunde to his hand. Infantry destroyed Fiendish Chain. Abysspike attacked directly after Wind-Up Rabbit dodged it, and Brake Set Deck Devastation Virus.

Rabbit returned to play. Gersten destroyed the Virus with Heavy Storm, then played Wind-Up Magician. Rabbit banished itself, and Magician brought Shark to the field. He Xyz Summoned Number 39: Utopia and destroyed Abyssteus in battle before setting three back row cards.

Brake drew Heavy Storm and played it, forcing Gersten’s Solemn Judgment. He Normal Summoned Abysspike next, discarding Abyssgunde to put Abysslinde in his hand. Abyssgunde’s effect Special Summoned Abysslinde from the Graveyard. He stacked his Abysspikes for Abyss Dweller. Abysslinde attacked Utopia, and Gersten detached a material to negate the attack.

Rabbit returned to play. Utopia attacked Abyss Dweller, and Brake used the effect before it went down. Gersten Set another card to his back row.

Brake drew Abyss-sphere. Abysslinde attacked Rabbit, which banished itself. A replay occurred and it attacked Utopia next, and Gersten allowed it. Abysslinde went down, and Gersten had Solemn Warning! Brake Set Abyss-sphere and Abysslinde.

Gersten returned Rabbit again. Rabbit destroyed Abysslinde in battle, and Brake Special Summoned Mermail Abyssmegalo in defense position, and Utopia destroyed it.

Brake drew Atlantean Dragoons. He passed.

Gersten attacked with Rabbit, and Brake activated Abyss-sphere to get Abysslinde, and Gersten had Bottomless Trap Hole! Rabbit continued its attack directly, along with Utopia. Brake conceded after seeing his next draw!

Elijah Gersten battles back using Number 39: Utopia and some well-timed traps! This will be the last Duel of the Top 4!

Duel 3

Brake started off with Dragoons, Maxx “C”, Abyssgunde, Diva, Rivalry of Warlords, and Mystical Space Typhoon. He played Diva to get Infantry, then Normal Summoned Dragoons. He tuned Diva to Infantry for Armory Arm, then stacked that with Dragoons for Abyss Dweller. He Set Rivalry.

Gersten activated Dimensional Fissure! Brake Chained Maxx “C”. Gersten played Wind-Up Rabbit and Set three face-down cards.

Brake drew Mermail Abyssmegalo. Dweller attacked, Rabbit dodged it, and Dweller hit directly. Brake Set his Mystical Space Typhoon and lost it to Dust Tornado.

Gersten returned his Rabbit and Normal Summoned Wind-Up Shark. He made it Level 3, then Xyz Summoned Wind-Up Carrier Zenmaity. Zenmaity detached Rabbit to Special Summon Wind-Up Rat, and Rat targeted Rabbit. Now, Brake Chained his Rivalry of Warlords, and Gersten negated it with Solemn Judgment! Rabbit hit the field, and Gersten Xyz Summoned Number 17: Leviathan Dragon. Leviathan detached Rabbit and attacked Abyss Dweller. Brake detached Dragoons before Dweller went down, and got Diva to his hand. Zenmaity attacked as well, and Gersten played a second Dimensional Fissure.

Brake drew another Diva. He played one, and Gersten’s Solemn Warning meant that he’d be taking Wind-Ups to the finals!
