Round 5 Feature Match: Victor Lopez vs. Fedarice Brou
Fedarice Brou made the trip from Laffayette, LA, and is using Six Samurai. With the recent unlimitation of Shien’s Smoke Signal, Samurai are proving to be a popular pick this weekend. Victor Lopez is from Mission, TX. He’s playing a Monarch Deck focused abusing Macro Cosmos, and even features The Seal of Orichalcos!
Duel 1
Brou led the first Duel with Gateway of the Six. He Normal Summoned Spirit of the Six Samurai, then Special Summoned Grandmaster of the Six Samurai. With Gateway, he added Legendary Six Samurai – Enishi to his hand. He equipped Spirit to Grandmaster and Set a back row card.
Lopez started with a hand of Caius the Shadow Monarch, Battle Fader, Mystical Space Typhoon, Soul Exchange, Cyber Valley, and Macro Cosmos. He played Soul Exchange to Tribute Grandmaster for Caius! He tried to banish Gateway, but Brou used Fiendish Chain. Lopez Set Macro and Mystical Space Typhoon.
Brou played Monster Reborn to bring back Spirit, and Lopez destroyed Gateway with Typhoon. Brou continued by playing Kagemusha of the Six Samurai, and Lopez flipped his Macro Cosmos. Brou Synchro Summoned Legendary Six Samurai – Shi En anyway, then Special Summoned Legendary Six Samurai – Kizan! Shi En destroyed Caius in battle, and Kizan attacked directly, triggering Lopez’s Battle Fader.
Lopez drew Solemn Warning. He Set it, then Normal Summoned Cyber Valley.
Brou tried to play his Enishi next turn, and lost it to Warning. Kizan attacked Battle Fader, then Shi En attacked Cyber Valley. Valley’s effect ended the Battle Phase and gave Lopez another Valley.
Lopez drew Dimensional Fissure. He playedValley and passed.
Brou attacked it and Lopez drew Bottomless Trap Hole.
Lopez drew Raiza the Storm Monarch. He Set Bottomless Trap Hole and passed.
Brou attacked directly with both monsters and Set a back row card.
Lopez drew Cardcar D. He Normal Summoned it and drew another Dimensional Fissure and another Raiza! On his next turn, Brou finished Lopez off!
Victor Lopez gets some rough draws, with a ton of banishing cards like Dimensional Fissure, but no way to take advantage of them! Fedarice Brou was able to easily take advantage with the high ATK of his Samurais.
Duel 2
Lopez’s hand consisted of The Huge Revolution is Over, Battle Fader, Cardcar D, Dimensional Fissure, Macro Cosmos, and D.D. Scout Plane. He played Dimensional Fissure, Set both of his traps, then used Cardcar D to draw D.D. Survivor and Caius the Shadow Monarch.
Brou played Shien’s Smoke Signal, adding Legendary Six Samurai – Kageki to his hand. Gateway of the Six followed, then Kageki was Summoned. Kageki’s effect Special Summoned Kagemusha of the Six Samurai, and Brou Synchro Summoned Legendary Six Samurai – Shi En! Gateway had six Bushido Counters, but Brou wasn’t finished! He Special Summoned Grandmaster of the Six Samurai, then removed four Bushido counters to add Legendary Six Samurai – Kizan to his hand. He Special Summoned that, then used Gateway for another Kizan and Summoned it as well. Unfortunately for Brou, his Battle Phase plans were cut short by Battle Fader! In Main Phase 2 he stacked both copies of Kizan for Number 50: Blackship of Corn and took out Fader. Brou used Gateway to add Hand of the Six Samurai to his hand.
Lopez drew Raiza the Storm Monarch. He Set Scout Plane and passed.
Brou played another Kageki and used its effect to Special Summon Hand (from his hand). Gateway added Spirit to his hand, then Hand Tributed Kageki to destroy Scout Plane. With Lopez’s field wide open, Brou attacked with all his monsters to finish the Match!
Fedarice Brou takes a decisive Match with his Six Samurai!
