3rd/4th Playoff: Nick Tomlin vs. William Montes

While they didn’t quite make it to the finals, there’s still something to be had for taking third place. Glory! Bragging rights! A Super Rare copy of Digvorzhak, King of Heavy Industry! But mostly bragging rights!

Just kidding. We all know any Duelist would love to get ahold of Digvorzhak, and these Duelists have a shot at it. Nick Tomlin’s taking his Wind-Ups against William Montes’s Dino Rabbit!

Duel 1

Montes started strong with Rescue Rabbit! He brought out 2 Kabazauls and Xyz Summoned Evolzar Laggia. He Set three cards to his back row.

Tomlin started off with a hand of 2 Mystical Space Typhoons, Mirror Force, Torrential Tribute, Wind-Up Rabbit, and Wind-Up Magician. He played Rabbit, then Set everything but Magician.

Montes Set a fourth back row card. He played Cardcar D, and Tomlin used Torrential Tribute. Laggia negated it, and Montes used Cardcar’s effect. Tomlin destroyed the newly Set Macro Cosmos with Typhoon in the End Phase.

Tomlin drew Trap Stun and Set it.

Montes attacked directly with Laggia, as Wind-Up Rabbit banished itself. He Set a fourth back row card.

Tomlin drew Bottomless Trap Hole and returned Rabbit to play. He played Magician, then had Rabbit banish itself. Montes tried to negate Magician with Fiendish Chain, but Tomlin used Trap Stun! Magician Special Summoned Wind-Up Shark from the Deck, and he Xyz Summoned Diamond Dire Wolf! He Set Bottomless Trap Hole and passed.

Montes attacked with Laggia, and Tomlin saved his Dire Wolf with Mirror Force. Montes played Sabersaurus to finish.

Tomlin drew Tour Guide From the Underworld. He activated Diamond Dire Wolf’s effect, targeting a back row card. Montes Chained another Fiendish Chain, but Tomlin destroyed it with Mystical Space Typhoon. He banished his Rabbit to save it from the Dire Wolf, and Montes’s Dimensional Prison was destroyed. Tomlin continued with Tour Guide bringing out a second Tour Guide, and Xyz Summoned Wind-Up Zenmaines. Zenmaines attacked into Sabersaurus, and in the End Phase, it destroyed Sabersaurus with its effect.

Wolves and Rabbits, best friends

Montes played Heavy Storm, then Chained his face-down Forbidden Lance on Diamond Dire Wolf. He played Jurrac Guaiba and destroyed Dire Wolf to bring out another Guaiba, Set a second back row card, and Xyz Summoned Evolzar Dolkka.

Tomlin drew Wind-Up Rat. He tried using it to revive Magician, Dolkka negated it, Rabbit tried to banish Rat, and Dolkka negated that too! Zenmaines went to defense position.

Montes had Tour Guide From the Underworld! It got another Tour Guide, and he stacked them for Leviair the Sea Dragon to get back Rescue Rabbit! That brought forth two Sabersauruses, and Tomlin couldn’t survive!

Nick Tomlin 3rd-4th Playoff

William Montes manages to take the first Duel, despite Nick Tomlin’s constant destruction and negation! Tomlin is playing first in the second Duel.

Duel 2

Tomlin had Solemn Judgment, Wind-Up Factory, 2 Wind-Up Rats, and 2 Wind-Up Sharks. He played Factory and a Shark. It became Level 3, and Factory added Wind-Up Magician to his hand. He Set Solemn Judgment.

Montes played Jurrac Guaiba! It destroyed Shark to bring out another Guaiba, then he Xyz Summoned Evolzar Laggia. Tomlin negated the Summon with Solemn Judgment, and Montes Set all five of his remaining cards to his back row!

Tomlin drew Wind-Up Rabbit. He played Rat, which revived Shark. That let him Special Summon the Shark in his hand. Montes destroyed Factory with Dust Tornado, then cleared the field with Torrential Tribute!

Montes Set a fourth card to his back row.

Tomlin drew Monster Reborn! He played another Rat, and revived the first Rat with it. He stacked them for Soul of Silvermountain in defense position! He detached a material to lock down one of Montes’s back row cards.

Montes Set a fifth back row card.

Tomlin drew Bottomless Trap Hole. Soul of Silvermountain locked down a second card, then Tomlin used Monster Reborn on Rat. He Normal Summoned Magician, and Rat returned Shark to the field. Magician Special Summoned Rabbit from the Deck. Tomlin stacked Shark and Magician for Diamond Dire Wolf! He activated it, targeting Rat and one of Montes’s face-downs, but was negated by Fiendish Chain. Tomlin Set Bottomless Trap Hole, and lost it to Mystical Space Typhoon in the End Phase.

Montes ripped Rescue Rabbit off the top of his Deck! He got 2 Sabersauruses, and Tomlin banished Rat with Rabbit. Montes Xyz Summoned Evolzar Dolkka and took down Soul of Silvermountain, freeing up his cards.

William Montes 3rd-4th Playoff

Tomlin drew Bottomless Trap Hole and returned Rat to play. He switched it to attack position, then Normal Summoned Rabbit. He had Rat bring back Rat. He used Rabbit, trying to banish the Rat that already used its effect, and Montes negated it with Dolkka. Tomlin Set Bottomless Trap Hole, then stacked Rabbit and Rat for Zenmaines in defense position.

Montes destroyed Rat next turn with Dolkka.

Tomlin drew Pot of Duality. He played it to take Fiendish Chain, putting back another Fiendish Chain and a Shark. He Set the Chain.

Montes Normal Summoned Thunder King Rai-Oh, and it fell into Tomlin’s Bottomless Trap Hole. Dolkka attacked, and was blocked by Fiendish Chain.

Tomlin drew and Set Torrential Tribute.

Montes passed.

Tomlin drew Shark and passed.

Montes passed.

Tomlin drew Cardcar D! He Summoned it, then used it to draw Wind-Up Warrior and Trap Stun.

Montes passed.

Tomlin drew Mystical Space Typhoon. He Set Trap Stun.

Montes had Heavy Storm! He Chained Forbidden Lance on his Dolkka. Montes lost Starlight Road, Mirror Force, and Fiendish Chain, while Tomlin lost Torrential Tribute, Trap Stun, Mystical Space Typhoon, and Fiendish Chain. Dolkka destroyed Dire Wolf in battle, then Montes Set two back row cards.

Tomlin drew another Cardcar D and used it, but Montes negated it with Dolkka.

Montes negated Zenmaines with Fiendish Chain, then destroyed it in battle. He Set a second back row card.

Tomlin drew Dimensional Prison. He played Wind-Up Warrior, then Special Summoned Wind-Up Shark from his hand, but Montes banished it with Bottomless Trap Hole. Tomlin Set Prison.

Montes attacked Warrior, Tomlin tried to save it with Dimensional Prison, but Montes used Forbidden Lance! Tomlin had no cards left whatsoever…

But he drew Wind-Up Rat! He returned another Rat to play, then Xyz Summoned Number 17: Leviathan Dragon. He powered it up, but attacked into Dimensional Prison!

Montes played Rescue Rabbit next turn, and wipe out the rest of Tomlin’s Life Points!
