We’re down to only eight Duelists! Angel Ascencio is facing off against Jeff Jones in this all Mermail Feature Match! These Duelists are two of only three remaining Mermail players, but when the dust settles, only one can remain in the tournament!
Duel 1
Jones began with a hand of Mermail Abyssdine, Mermail Abyssleed, Mermail Abyssgunde, Atlantean Dragoons, Mermail Abyssmegalo, and Mystical Space Typhoon. He discarded Abyssleed and Dragoons for Abyssmegalo’s effect. He added Abyss-sphere and Abyssmegalo to his hand. Next, he discarded Abyssdine and Abyssgunde for the new Abyssmegalo. He added Abyss-squall to his hand, then used both mermaids’ effects to revive each other. He used all his monsters to Xyz Summoned Wind-Up Zenmaines and Mermail Abyssgaios, then Set Abyss-sphere.
Ascencio played Heavy Storm, and Jones Chained Abyss-sphere. He brought out Mermail Abysslinde, and when it went down, he got Abyssmegalo. Ascencio discarded Atlantean Heavy Infantry for Mermail Abyssteus, and Jones used Abyssgaios’s effect to negate Abyssteus before falling to Heavy Infantry. Ascencio stole Jones’s Abyssleed with Monster Reborn next, and Normal Summoned Abysslinde. He Tributed Abysslinde for Abyssleed’s effect, and Jones lost Abyss-squall. Abyssleed destroyed Abyssmegalo in battle, then Ascencio Xyz Summoned Number 11: Big Eye, stealing Wind-Up Zenmaines!
Jones drew Monster Reborn. He passed.
Ascencio attacked with Zenmaines and Big Eye.
Jones drew Enemy Controller. He revived Abyssgaios with Monster Reborn, and destroyed Big Eye in battle. He Set Enemy Controller.
Ascencio used Salvage, adding Abysslinde and Heavy Infantry back to his hand. He played Abysslinde and attacked Abyssgaios, but Jones deflected it with Enemy Controller. Zenmaines attacked it next, and destroyed Abyssgaios in the End Phase.
Jones drew Abyss-sphere and Set it, along with Mystical Space Typhoon.
Ascencio played Mermail Abyssgunde. He attacked with it, and Jones used Abyss-sphere to bring out Abysslinde. Abyssgunde destroyed it, and Jones got Abyssteus. Ascencio stacked Abysslinde and Abyssgunde in Main Phase 2 for Number 17: Leviathan Dragon, powering it up. He Set Abyss-sphere, but lost it to Jones’s Typhoon.
Jones drew Abysspike and passed.
Ascencio played an Abysspike of his own, discarded Heavy Infantry, and Jones conceded!
Jeff Jones starts off strong, but Angel Ascencio completely dismantles that strong opening! The Duelists quickly Side Decked, and play was underway again.
Duel 2
Jones started off with Abyssmegalo, Abyssteus, Abysslinde, Deep Sea Diva, and 2 copies of Atlantean Marksman. He discarded Marksman for Abyssteus, adding Abyssgunde to his hand. He discarded that and Abysslinde for Abyssmegalo. He Special Summoned Abysslinde from the Graveyard, added Abyss-sphere to his hand, Set it, then Xyz Summoned Abyssgaios.
Ascencio Set two back row cards.
Jones drew Enemy Controller. Abysslinde attacked, and Ascencio used Abyss-sphere to block with his own Abysslinde. Jones’s copy destroyed Ascencio’s, and Ascencio Special Summoned Abysspike from his Deck. He discarded Marksman to add another Marksman to his hand, and Jones’s Abyss-sphere was destroyed. Abyssgaios destroyed Abysspike in battle.
Ascencio played Dark Hole! Jones’s Abysslinde replaced itself with Abysspike. Jones discarded Marksman, and Ascencio Chained Torrential Tribute. Jones added another Marksman to his hand with Abysspike’s effect. Ascencio continued, discarding Marksman and Dragoons for Abyssmegalo! He searched out Abyss-sphere and Deep Sea Diva. He played Diva next, getting Marksman to the field. He Tributed Diva for Abyssmegalo’s effect. Marksman attacked, getting Dragoons to the field. Dragoons and Abyssmegalo attacked to end it all!
