Ben Leverett and Oliver Tomajko both need no introduction. Both are veteran Dragon Duelists who have made it to the top of several Dragon Duel events. Now, these 2 experienced Dragon Duelists will be Dueling against one another in a Dragon Ruler mirror-match that will determine who will forever hold the title of 2013 Dragon Duel WCQ Champion!

Duel One

Tomajko started off Duel 1 by activating Gold Sarcophagus. He banished Redox, Dragon Ruler of Boulders from his Deck and used its effect to add Reactan, Dragon Ruler of Pebbles to his hand. Next, Tomajko discarded Reactan and Tidal to Special Summon Redox from his Deck. He discarded 2 copies of Burner to Special Summon Blaster, Dragon Ruler of Infernos from his Deck and then combined Blaster with Redox to Xyz Summon Mecha Phantom Beast Dracossack. He detached an Xyz Material from it to Special Summon 2 Mecha Phantom Beast Tokens to the field in Defense Position.

Leverett opened up with Vanity’s Emptiness, Sacred Sword of Seven Stars, Flamvell Guard, Tempest, Dragon Ruler of Storms, Blaster, Dragon Ruler of Infernos, and Super Rejuvenation. He activated Sacred Sword of Seven Stars by banishing Blaster from his hand and drew 2 cards. Next, he used Blaster’s effect to add Burner from his Deck to his hand. Then, he discarded Burner and Tempest to Special Summon Blaster from his Deck, and then banished Burner and Tempest from his Graveyard to Special Summon Redox from his hand. He added Lightning, Dragon Ruler of Drafts to his hand with the effect of the banished Tempest. Leverett combined Redox with Blaster to Xyz Summon Number 11: Big Eye in Defense Position and then detached an Xyz Material from Big Eye to try to take control of Dracossack; but Tomajko discarded Effect Veiler to negate Big Eye’s effect. Next, Leverett discarded Lightning and Flamvell Guard to Special Summon Tempest from his Deck. He Summoned Effect Veiler next, and Tuned it with Tempest to Synchro Summon Scrap Dragon. Leverett used Scrap Dragon’s effect to destroy Big Eye along with a Mecha Phantom Beast Token, and then attacked the second Token with Scrap Dragon to destroy it. Leverett Set Vanity’s Emptiness next. He used Super Rejuvenation to draw 4 cards in his End Phase, and then having picked up a second copy, activated another one to draw another 4 cards in his End Phase. With 7 cards in his hand, he discarded Tidal in his End Phase.

Tomajko activated Heavy Storm next turn to destroy Leverett’s face-down Vanity’s Emptiness. Next, he detached an Xyz Material from Dracossack to Special Summon 2 Mecha Phantom Beast Tokens to the field. He Tributed Dracossack with its own effect to destroy Scrap Dragon and then banished Reactan and Burner to Special Summon Blaster from his Graveyard. He banished Burner and Redox next, in order to Special Summon Tidal from his Graveyard. He used Redox’s effect to add Reactan from his Deck to his hand. Next, he activated Monster Reborn to Special Summon Effect Veiler from his Graveyard. He Tuned Veiler with both Mecha Phantom Beast Tokens to Summon Ancient Sacred Wyvern. Leverett used Effect Veiler to negate its effect before Tomajko could enter his Battle Phase. Tomajko instead Summoned Reactan, and then direct attacks from Reactan, Blaster, Ancient Sacred Wyvern, and Tidal wiped Leverett out.

Oliver Tomajko wins Duel 1 with Dragon Rulers on his second turn! Leverett will be going first in Duel 2!

Duel Two

Leverett started off Duel 2 with Book of Moon, Mystical Space Typhoon, Super Rejuvenation, Sacred Sword of Seven Stars, Burner, Dragon Ruler of Sparks, and Reactan, Dragon Ruler of Pebbles. Leverett discarded Reactan and Burner to Special Summon Redox from his Deck. He activated Sacred Sword of Seven Stars to banish it from the Duel and draw Tidal, Dragon Ruler of Waterfalls and Maxx “C”. Next, he used Redox’s effect to add Reactan, Dragon Ruler of Pebbles from his Deck to his hand. Leverett Set Book of Moon and then activated Super Rejuvenation to draw 2 cards in his End Phase.

Tomajko discarded Reactan and Redox to Special Summon a Redox from his Deck in Defense Position, and then discarded Stream and Blaster to Special Summon Tidal in Attack Position. He ended his turn without Xyz Summoning.

Leverett discarded Reactan and Tidal from his hand to Special Summon Redox from his Deck in Defense Position. Next, he discarded Tidal and Stream to Special Summon Tidal from his Deck in Attack Position. He Summoned Effect Veiler and Tuned it with Tidal to Synchro Summon Crimson Blader. He attacked Tidal with Crimson Blader, destroying it in battle and preventing Tomajko from Special Summoning Level 5 or higher monsters on his next turn. Leverett banished Stream and Reactan from his Graveyard to Special Summon Tidal from his Graveyard, and then Xyz Summoned Mecha Phantom Beast Dracossack in Defense Position. He detached an Xyz Material from it to Special Summon 2 Mecha Phantom Beast Tokens to the field. Leverett activated Super Rejuvenation next, and drew 4 cards in his End Phase.

Tomajko discarded Electric Virus from his hand to try to take control of Leverett’s Mecha Phantom Beast Dracossack; but Leverett Chained Book of Moon to put the Dracossack face-down! Next, Tomajko used Dark Hole to clear the field!

Leverett banished Crimson Blader and Burner from his Graveyard to try to Special Summon Blaster from his hand, and Tomajko Chained Maxx “C” to draw a card when it was Summoned. Blaster attacked Tomajko directly, and he dropped down to 5200 Life Points.

Tomajko banished Tidal and Blaster to Special Summon Redox from his hand. He added Burner and Tidal to his hand with the effects of his Dragons. Blaster returned to Leverett’s hand in the End Phase.

Leverett banished Maxx “C” and Reactan from his Graveyard to Special Summon Redox from his Graveyard in Defense Position. Next, he activated Sacred Sword of Seven Stars to banish Blaster from his hand and draw 2 cards. He used the effect of Blaster to add Flamvell Guard from his Deck to his hand. Leverett banished 2 copies of Tidal to Special Summon another one from his Graveyard, and Tomajko Chained Maxx “C” to draw a card. Leverett activated Enemy Controller to Tribute his Redox and take control of Tomajko’s Redox. Next, he Summoned Flamvell Guard, and Tuned it with Redox to Synchro Summon Colossal Fighter. Direct attacks from Colossal Fighter and Tidal finished Tomajko off!

Ben Leverett wins the second Duel, and pushes the Dragon Duel WCQ to a third and final Duel!

Duel Three

Tomajko started off Duel 3 by simply drawing a card and passing his turn.

Leverett opened up Duel 3 with Maxx “C”, Tempest, Dragon Ruler of Storms, Sacred Sword of Seven Stars, 2 copies of Blaster, Dragon Ruler of Infernos, and Lightning, Dragon Ruler of Drafts. He activated Sacred Sword of Seven Stars to banish Blaster and draw 2 cards, and then used Blaster’s effect to add Flamvell Guard from his Deck to his hand. Leverett used his in-hand Tempest’s effect to discard Tempest and Lightning to add Reactan from his Deck to his hand. He discarded Reactan and Blaster to Special Summon Redox from his Deck and then Normal Summoned Flamvell Guard and Tuned it with Redox to Synchro Summon Colossal Fighter. Leverett attacked Tomajko with Colossal Fighter, dropping Tomajko down to 5200 Life Points. Leverett activated Super Rejuvenation to draw 4 cards in his End Phase.

Tomajko discarded Burner and Lightning from his hand to Special Summon Blaster from his Deck in Defense Position. Next, he activated Super Rejuvenation to draw 2 cards in his End Phase.

Leverett activated Gold Sarcophagus to banish Tidal from his Deck. He used its effect to add Stream from his Deck to his hand. Next, he discarded Stream and Burner to try to Special Summon Tidal from his Deck, and Tomajko Chained Maxx “C”. Leverett Special Summoned Tidal in Defense Position, and Tomajko drew a card. Next, Leverett banished Burner and Lightning from his Graveyard to Special Summon Blaster in Attack Position, allowing Tomajko to draw another card. Blaster attacked and destroyed Tomajko’s Blaster, and then Colossal Fighter attacked directly, dropping Tomajko down to 2400 Life Points. Leverett Set Book of Moon before ending his turn.

Tomajko discarded Stream and Tempest to Special Summon Tidal, and Leverett Chained Maxx “C” to Stream’s effect to draw a card when Tidal was Summoned. Tomajko banished Stream and Tempest from his Graveyard to Special Summon Blaster, and then added Dragunity Corsesca to his hand with the effect of Tempest. Leverett drew another card. Next, Tomajko attacked Tidal with Blaster to destroy it. Tomajko discarded Blaster in his End Phase, and Leverett returned Blaster to his hand.
Leverett discarded Stream and Reactan to Special Summon Redox from his Deck in Defense Position. Tomajko Chained Maxx “C” to Reactan’s effect to draw a card when Redox was Summoned. Then Leverett banished Reactan and Stream to Summon Blaster in Attack Position, and Tomajko drew another card. Colossal Fighter attacked and destroyed Blaster next. Both monsters were destroyed, and Colossal Fighter Special Summoned itself back to the field, allowing Tomajko to draw a card. Next, Colossal Fighter attacked and destroyed Tidal. Then, Blaster attacked directly; but Tomajko discarded Swift Scarecrow to stay in the Duel! Leverett Set Vanity’s Emptiness before ending his turn.

Tomajko discarded Reactan and Redox to try to Special Summon Redox from his Deck; but Leverett flipped Vanity’s Emptiness to prevent all Special Summons! Next, Tomajko discarded Electric Virus to take control of Blaster. Blaster attacked and destroyed Colossal Fighter, and both monsters were destroyed. Vanity’s Emptiness was destroyed, and then Colossal Fighter Special Summoned itself back to the field. Tomajko activated Gold Sarcophagus to banish Tempest from his Deck and used its effect to grab Lightning. Next, he discarded Lightning and Tidal to Special Summon Tempest from his Deck. Leverett Chained Maxx “C” to draw a card when Tempest was Summoned. Tomajko Summoned Dragunity Corsesca next, and Tuned it with Tempest to Synchro Summon Colossal Fighter in Defense Position! Leverett drew another card. Next, Tomajko banished Swift Scarecrow and Lightning to Special Summon Redox from his Graveyard in Defense Position. Leverett drew another card thanks to Maxx “C”.

Leverett drew a card for his turn and then added Tidal to his hand with the effect of Gold Sarcophagus. He banished Stream and Flamvell Guard from his Graveyard to Special Summon Tempest, and then banished Reactan and Redox to Special Summon Tidal, Dragon Ruler of Waterfalls. Next, Leverett combined his Tidal with his Tempest to Xyz Summon Mecha Phantom Beast Dracossack! He Tributed the Dracossack to destroy Colossal Fighter, and then discarded 2 copies of Redox with Redox’s effect to bring Dracossack back to the field. He Tributed Dracossack to destroy Tomajko’s Redox, and then Colossal Fighter attacked directly to finish the Duel!
