12-year-old Giovanna Calderon from Texas is Dueling against 13-year-old Cole Agan from New Jersey in our Top 32 Feature Match! Calderon is using a Prophecy Deck, while Agan is using Dragon Rulers. Both of these Decks have been popular choices all weekend, and the Prophecy vs. Dragon Ruler matchup has become a defining matchup of the format. It’s time to Duel!

Duel One

Calderon opened up Duel 1 with Monster Reborn, Book of Moon, Spellbook of the Master, Spellbook of Power, and 2 copies of The Grand Spellbook Tower. She Set Book of Moon and then ended her turn.

Agan discarded Lightning, Dragon Ruler of Drafts and Blaster, Dragon Ruler of Infernos from his hand to Special Summon Tempest, Dragon Ruler of Storms from his Deck and then banished both of them to Special Summon another Tempest from his Deck. He activated Blaster’s effect to add Burner to his hand. He Xyz Summoned Dracossack and Calderon flipped Book of Moon to put it face-down. Agan used 2 copies of Super Rejuvenation to draw 4 cards in his End Phase.

Calderon drew Threatening Roar and Set it. She activated The Grand Spellbook Tower before ending her turn.

Agan Flip Summoned Dracossack and detached Tempest from it to Special Summon 2 Mecha Phantom Beast Tokens in Defense Position. Next, he discarded Burner and Lightning to Special Summon Blaster from his Deck, and banished both of them to Special Summon Tempest from his Graveyard. He combined Tempest with Blaster to Xyz Summon another Dracossack and then Tributed a Token to try to destroy Calderon’s face-down Threatening Roar; but she Chained it. Next, Agan detached an Xyz Material from Dracossack to Special Summon 2 more Mecha Phantom Beast Tokens. Agan Set 2 back rows before ending his turn.

Calderon drew Jowgen the Spiritualist. She Summoned it and then Set Spellbook of Power and Monster Reborn. She activated Jowgen’s effect, randomly discarding Spellbook of the Master from her hand, and Agan discarded Effect Veiler from his hand to negate Jowgen’s effect. Next, Calderon flipped Spellbook of Power, giving Jowgen an extra 1000 ATK. Jowgen attacked a Mecha Phantom Beast Token, but Agan flipped Book of Moon to put Jowgen face-down. Calderon ended her turn.

Agan Tributed a Mecha Phantom Beast Token to destroy Calderon’s The Grand Spellbook Tower. Calderon activated its effect to Special Summon a monster, and Agan Chained Maxx “C”. Calderon Special Summoned Justice of Prophecy from her Deck, and Agan drew a card. Next, Agan Tributed a Mecha Phantom Beast Token to destroy Calderon’s face-down Jowgen, and detached an Xyz Material from Dracossack to Special Summon 2 more Mecha Phantom Beast Tokens.

Calderon activated Monster Reborn next turn, and Agan Chained Maxx “C”. Calderon Special Summoned Jowgen from her Graveyard, and Agan drew a card thanks to the effect of Maxx “C”. Calderon activated Jowgen’s effect by discarding The Grand Spellbook Tower from her hand; but Agan negated it with another Effect Veiler!

Agan Tributed a Token to destroy Calderon’s face-down Phoenix Wing Wind Blast and then Tributed another Token to destroy Jowgen. Next, he discarded Stream and Tempest to Special Summon Tidal from his Deck. He banished Blaster and Stream to Special Summon Tempest from his Graveyard and then used his Blaster’s effect to add another copy of Blaster from his Deck to his hand. Next, Agan Tributed Dracossack and Tidal to Summon Blaster. He then combined Blaster and Tempest to Xyz Summon another Dracossack. Agan detached an Xyz Material from his new Dracossack to Special Summon 2 Mecha Phantom Beast Tokens in Defense Position and then attacked Justice of Prophecy with Dracossack to destroy it. Agan activated Super Rejuvenation to draw 3 cards in his End Phase.

Calderon drew Spellbook of Judgment and Set it, with no other cards in her hand or on her field.

Agan attacked directly with both Dracossacks and then Set a card to his back row.

Calderon drew Heavy Storm. She activated Spellbook of Judgment and then activated Heavy Storm to destroy Agan’s face-down Forbidden Chalice and Sacred Sword of Seven Stars. Calderon Special Summoned Effect Veiler from her Deck in the End Phase and added Spellbook of Secrets from her Deck to her hand.

Agan Tributed a Token to destroy the Effect Veiler and then Summoned Reactan. Finally, he attacked directly with his second Dracossack and Reactan to wipe out the rest of Calderon’s Life Points!

Duel Two

Calderon opened up Duel 2 with Kycoo the Ghost Destroyer, Spellbook of Wisdom, Spellbook Magician of Prophecy, Jowgen the Spiritualist, Spellbook of Fate, and Spellbook of Secrets.

She Summoned the Spellbook Magician of Prophecy and activated its effect; but Agan discarded Effect Veiler to negate it! Next, Calderon activated Spellbook of Secrets, using its effect to add Spellbook of the Master from her Deck to her hand. She activated Spellbook of the Master next, and copied the effect of Spellbook of Secrets to grab The Grand Spellbook Tower from her Deck. She activated The Grand Spellbook Tower and then Set Spellbook of Wisdom and Spellbook of Fate before ending her turn.

Agan activated Heavy Storm! Calderon Chained Spellbook of Wisdom to make her Magician immune to Traps, and Chained Spellbook of Fate to banish Spellbook of the Master and Spellbook of Secrets from her Graveyard and put her Magician face-down. Next, she Special Summoned Justice of Prophecy from her Deck with the effect of The Grand Spellbook Tower. Agan activated Gold Sarcophagus next, and banished Blaster from his Deck. He used Blaster’s effect to add Burner to his hand, and then discarded Lightning and Redox to Special Summon Tempest from his Deck. He banished Redox and Lightning from his Graveyard to Special Summon Tidal from his hand, and then used Redox’s effect to grab another Redox from his Deck. Agan combined Tidal and Tempest to Xyz Summon Mecha Phantom Beast Dracossack and then detached an Xyz Material from Dracossack to Special Summon 2 Mecha Phantom Beast Tokens in Defense Position. Next, he attacked Justice of Prophecy with Dracossack to destroy it, and ended his turn.

Calderon Flip Summoned Spellbook Magician of Prophecy and activated its effect to add Spellbook of Judgment from her Deck to her hand. She activated Spellbook of Judgment, followed by Spellbook of Secrets. She grabbed Spellbook of Power from her Deck with the effect of Spellbook of Secrets. Next, she Summoned Kycoo the Ghost Destroyer to the field. She activated Spellbook of Power to increase Kycoo’s ATK by 1000, and attacked Dracossack. Agan withstood the attack due to the presence of his Tokens, but he lost 200 Life Points. In Calderon’s End Phase, she added Spellbook of Secrets and Spellbook of the Master to her hand with the effect of Spellbook of Judgment, and Special Summoned Spellbook Magician of Prophecy from her Deck with the effect of Spellbook of Judgment.

Agan Tributed a Token with Dracossack to destroy Kycoo and then discarded Burner and Redox to Special Summon Blaster from his Deck. He banished Tempest and Burner from his Graveyard next, and Special Summoned Redox from his Graveyard. He used Tempest’s effect to add Reactan, Dragon Ruler of Pebbles from his Deck to his hand. Next, Agan combined Blaster and Redox to Xyz Summon Mecha Phantom Beast Dracossack, and detached an Xyz Material from Dracossack to Special Summon 2 more Mecha Phantom Beast Tokens. He attacked Spellbook Magician of Prophecy with Dracossack, dropping Calderon down to 5900 Life Points.

Calderon Summoned Jowgen the Spirtualist. She Set Spellbook of the Master and Spellbook of Secrets, and then discarded Phoenix Wing Wind Blast from her hand to destroy all of Agan’s face-up Mecha Phantom Beast Tokens, along with Calderon’s own Spellbook Magician of Prophecy that was Special Summoned from Spellbook of Judgment. Next, Calderon activated Spellbook of Secrets to add Spellbook of Fate from her Deck to her hand. She activated Spellbook of the Master next, revealing the Spellbook of Fate from her hand, in order to copy the effect of Spellbook of Secrets. She searched her Deck for The Grand Spellbook Tower and added it to her hand. Next, she activated Spellbook of Fate. She banished Spellbook of Power, Spellbook of the Master, and Spellbook of Judgment from her Graveyard to banish Dracossack. She activated The Grand Spellbook Tower before ending her turn.

Agan added Blaster to his hand due to the effect of his previously activated Gold Sarcophagus. Next, he Summoned Tsukuyomi and used its effect to put Jowgen face-down. He discarded Reactan and Blaster from his hand to Special Summon Redox from his Deck next, and then banished Blaster and Reactan from his Graveyard to Special Summon Redox from his Graveyard. He used Blaster’s effect to add Burner, Dragon Ruler of Sparks from his Deck to his hand. Next, Agan combined his 2 copies of Redox to Xyz Summon Mecha Phantom Beast Dracossack. He detached an Xyz Material from Dracossack to Special Summon 2 Tokens to the field, and then attacked Calderon’s face-down Jowgen with a Dracossack to destroy it. Direct attacks from Tsukuyomi and the other Dracossack dropped Calderon down to 2200 Life Points. Agan activated Super Rejuvenation to draw 2 cards in his End Phase, and returned Tsukuyomi to his hand. Then he activated Mystical Space Typhoon to destroy The Grand Spellbook Tower, and Calderon Special Summoned High Priestess of Prophecy from her Deck.

Calderon Summoned Kycoo the Ghost Destroyer. She attacked both of Agan’s Tokens with Kycoo and High Priestess of Prophecy to destroy them, and then banished Spellbook of Wisdom from her Graveyard to destroy Dracossack with High Priestess of Prophecy’s effect.

Agan activated Forbidden Chalice to negate Kycoo’s effect next turn, and then banished Redox and Tidal to Special Summon Redox from his Graveyard. He added a Tidal to his hand with his banished Tidal’s effect. Next, Agan discarded Burner and Tidal to Special Summon Blaster from his Deck. He combined Blaster and Tidal to Xyz Summon Number 11: Big Eye, and detached Blaster from Big Eye to take control of High Priestess of Prophecy. Next, Agan banished Blaster and Burner from his Graveyard to Special Summon Blaster his Graveyard. He attacked Kycoo with High Priestess of Prophecy, and then direct attacks from Blaster and Dracossack finished Calderon off!
