Robert Boyajian and Patrick Hoban are both using Dragon Ruler Decks; but only one of them can emerge on top and advance to the Top 4! It’s time to Duel!

Duel One

Hoban opened up with Tidal, Dragon Ruler of Waterfalls, Tempest, Dragon Ruler of Storms, Maxx “C”, Effect Veiler, Super Rejuvenation, and Gold Sarcophagus.

He activated Gold Sarcophagus to banish Redox, Dragon Ruler of Boulders from his Deck and used Redox’s effect to add Reactan, Dragon Ruler of Pebbles to his hand. Next, he discarded Reactan and Tidal to Special Summon Redox from his Graveyard. Hoban banished Stream and Reactan from his Graveyard next, in order to Special Summon Tempest from his hand. He added Stream, Dragon Ruler of Droplets to his hand with the effect of Tidal. Next, Hoban combined Tempest with Redox to Xyz Summon Mecha Phantom Beast Dracossack in Defense Position. He detached an Xyz Material from Dracossack to Special Summon 2 Mecha Phantom Beast Tokens. Next, he activated Super Rejuvenation and drew 2 cards in his End Phase.

Boyajian activated Gold Sarcophagus to banish Redox from his Deck. He used its effect to add a Redox from his Deck to his hand. Next, he discarded Lightning, Dragon Ruler of Drafts and Redox, Dragon Ruler of Boulders to try to Special Summon Tempest from his Deck; and Hoban Chained Maxx “C” to draw a card when Tempest was Summoned. Boyajian activated Sacred Sword of Seven Stars next, and banished his on-field Tempest to draw 2 cards. He used Tempest’s effect to add another Tempest from his Deck to his hand. Boyajian Set a card to his back row before ending his turn.

Hoban Tributed a Token with Dracossack to try to destroy Boyajian’s back row; but Boyajian discarded Effect Veiler from his hand to negate Dracossack’s effect. Next, Hoban discarded Tidal and Stream to use Tidal’s effect and send Blaster, Dragon Ruler of Infernos to his Graveyard. He banished Maxx “C” and Stream from his Graveyard to Special Summon Redox in Attack Position. Redox attacked Boyajian directly, and Boyajian dropped down to 6400 Life Points. In Main Phase 2, Hoban discarded Lightning and Redox to Special Summon Lightning from his Deck. He combined Lightning and Redox to Xyz Summon another Dracossack in Defense Position, and detached an Xyz Material from it to Special Summon 2 more Tokens. He Tributed one of them to destroy Boyajian’s face-down Heavy Storm and then Set Book of Moon before ending his turn.

Boyajian discarded Burner and Tempest to Special Summon Blaster from his Deck and then banished Tempest and Burner to Special Summon Redox from his Graveyard. He used Tempest’s effect to add Dragunity Corsesca to his hand.

Boyajian combined Blaster and Redox to Xyz Summon Mecha Phantom Beast Dracossack in Attack Position, and Hoban flipped Book of Moon to put it face-down. Next, Boyajian discarded Stream and Burner to Special Summon Tidal from his Deck in Attack Position. He Summoned Dragunity Corsesca next, and Tuned his Corsesca with Tidal to Synchro Summon Scrap Dragon! Boyajian banished Stream and Burner to Special Summon Tidal from his Graveyard. He attacked 2 Mecha Phantom Beast Tokens with Scrap Dragon and Tidal to destroy them, and then in Main Phase 2 activated his Scrap Dragon’s effect to try to destroy a Dracossack; but Hoban discarded Effect Veiler to negate Scrap Dragon’s effect.

Hoban detached an Xyz Material from Dracossack to Special Summon 2 Mecha Phantom Beast Tokens and then had Dracossack Tribute itself to destroy Boyajian’s face-down Dracossack. Next, Hoban banished Blaster and Dracossack to Special Summon Tempest from his Graveyard. He added Flamvell Guard to his hand with the effect of Blaster. Hoban Summoned the Guard to the field and then Tuned it with a Token to Synchro Summon Armory Arm! He equipped Armory Arm to Boyajian’s Tidal and then attacked Scrap Dragon with his Mecha Phantom Beast Token so that the Token would be destroyed. Next, Dracossack, Tidal, and Tempest attacked into Boyajian’s 3600 ATK Tidal, and Boyajian lost 7600 Life Points due to Armory Arm’s effect!

Duel Two

Boyajian started off Duel 2 with Sacred Sword of Seven Stars to banish Tempest from his hand and draw 2 cards. He added Lightning, Dragon Ruler of Drafts to his hand with the effect of Tempest. Next, he discarded Lightning and Redox to Special Summon Tempest from his Deck in Attack Position. He discarded Tidal and Stream next, in order to use Tidal’s effect and send Blaster from his Deck to his Graveyard. Next, he banished Redox and Lightning from his Graveyard to Special Summon Blaster. He added Redox to his hand with his banished Redox’s effect. Next, Boyajian combined Blaster and Tempest to Xyz Summon Mecha Phantom Beast Dracossack in Defense Position. He detached an Xyz Material from it to try to Special Summon 2 Tokens; but Hoban discarded Effect Veiler to negate its effect.

Hoban activated Burner’s effect by discarding Tempest, and Boyajian Chained Maxx “C”. Hoban Special Summoned Blaster from his Deck, and Boyajian drew a card. Next, Hoban banished Blaster and Burner from his Graveyard to Special Summon Tempest from his Graveyard. He added Flamvell Guard to his hand with the effect of Blaster. Hoban Tuned Guard with Blaster to Summon Crimson Blader, and Boyajian drew another card. Boyajian discarded Effect Veiler to negate Crimson Blader’s effect before Hoban could enter his Battle Phase. Tempest attacked and destroyed Dracossack, and then Crimson Blader attacked directly, dropping Boyajian down to 5200 Life Points. Boyajian discarded 2 copies of Redox to try to Special Summon Dracossack from his Graveyard with Redox’s effect; but Hoban Chained Vanity’s Emptiness! Next, Boyajian discarded Electric Virus to take control of Tempest. Boyajian attacked Crimson Blader with Tempest, causing Tempest to enter Hoban’s Graveyard and Vanity’s Emptiness to be destroyed. Next, Boyajian banished Stream and Tempest from his Graveyard to Special Summon Tidal from his Graveyard, and added Lightning to his hand with Tempest’s effect. Boyajian discarded Lightning and Tidal next, and Special Summoned Tempest from his Deck. Boyajian Tributed both of his Dragons to Summon Blaster, next. He banished Lightning and Redox from his Graveyard to Special Summon another Blaster from his Graveyard, and then combined both Blasters to Xyz Summon Mecha Phantom Beast Dracossack in Defense Position. He activated its effect to Special Summon 2 Tokens, and then Tributed one of the Tokens to destroy Crimson Blader. Boyajian activated Super Rejuvenation to draw 6 cards in the End Phase.

Hoban banished Tempest and Crimson Blader from his Graveyard to Special Summon Blaster and then added another Tempest to his hand with Tempest’s effect. Next, Hoban activated Gold Sarcophagus! He banished Redox from his Deck, and activated its effect to add Reactan to his hand. He discarded Reactan and Tempest to Special Summon Redox from his Deck in Defense Position. Then, Hoban attacked a Mecha Phantom Beast Token with Blaster to destroy it. Hoban combined his Monsters to Xyz Summon Mecha Phantom Beast Dracossack, and Boyajian used Effect Veiler to negate its effect. Nevertheless, Hoban detached an Xyz Material from it.

Boyajian detached an Xyz Material from Dracossack to Special Summon 2 Tokens to the field and then Tributed one of them to destroy Hoban’s Dracossack. He Set 2 cards before ending his turn.

Hoban drew Reactan next turn. He banished Dracossack and Blaster from his Graveyard to Special Summon Tempest from his Graveyard. Then he used Blaster’s effect to add another Blaster to his hand. Next, he discarded Blaster and Reactan to Special Summon Redox from his Deck. He attacked a Mecha Phantom Beast Token with Tempest to destroy it, and then combined Tempest with Redox to Summon Mecha Phantom Beast Dracossack; but Boyajian flipped Book of Moon to immediately put it face-down. Hoban banished 2 Reactans from his Graveyard to Special Summon Redox in Defense Position and Set Mystical Space Typhoon before ending his turn.

Boyajian Tributed Dracossack to target Hoban’s face-down Mystical Space Typhoon for destruction, and he Chained it to destroy Boyajian’s face-down Gold Sarcophagus. Next, Boyajian activated Dark Hole to clear the field, and Hoban immediately conceded.

Duel Three

Hoban opened up Duel 3 with Flamvell Guard, Redox, Dragon Ruler of Boulders, Maxx “C”, Burner, Dragon Ruler of Sparks, and 2 copies of Tempest. He activated Burner’s effect by discarding Redox, and Boyajian Chained Maxx “C”. Hoban Special Summoned Blaster from his Deck, and Boyajian drew a card. Next, Hoban discarded 2 copies of Tempest to use its effect to add Tidal to his hand. Next, he Normal Summoned Flamvell Guard. He Tuned his Guard with Blaster to Synchro Summon Colossal Fighter in Attack Position and then ended his turn.

Boyajian activated Lightning’s effect and discarded Corsesca, and Hoban Chained Maxx “C”. Boyajian Special Summoned Tempest from his Deck in Attack Position, and Hoban drew a card. Boyajian discarded Blaster and Burner next, using Blaster’s effect to destroy Colossal Fighter. Boyajian Set a card before ending his turn.

Hoban banished Blaster and Maxx “C” from his Graveyard to Special Summon Redox from his Graveyard. He used Blaster’s effect to add Burner to his hand and then discarded it along with Tidal to Special Summon Blaster from his Deck in Attack Position. He combined Blaster with Redox to Xyz Summon Mecha Phantom Beast Dracossack in Defense Position. As soon as he Summoned it, Boyajian flipped Book of Moon to flip Dracossack face-down. Hoban banished 2 copies of Burner from his Graveyard to Special Summon Tidal from his Graveyard. He banished Flamvell Guard and Tempest to Special Summon Tempest from his Graveyard next. Tidal attacked and destroyed Boyajian’s Tempest, and then Tempest attacked directly to drop Boyajian down to 5400 Life Points. In Main Phase 2, Hoban combined Tidal with Tempest to Summon Mecha Phantom Beast Dracossack in Defense Position, and Boyajian discarded Effect Veiler to negate its effect. Hoban activated Gold Sarcophagus to banish Enemy Controller from his Deck and then activated Super Rejuvenation to draw 2 cards in his End Phase.

Boyajian banished Corsesca and Lightning from his Graveyard to Special Summon Tempest and then Normal Summoned Effect Veiler. He Tuned his monsters together to Summon Crimson Blader and then banished Tempest and Burner to Special Summon Blaster from his Graveyard. Blaster and Crimson Blader destroyed Hoban’s 2 Dracossacks in battle.

Hoban Set Vanity’s Emptiness next turn and passed. Blaster returned to Boyajian’s hand in the End Phase.

Boyajian attacked directly with Crimson Blader, dropping Hoban down to 5200 Life Points.

Hoban drew a card and then added Enemy Controller to his hand in his Standby Phase thanks to Gold Sarcophagus. He activated Sacred Sword of Seven Stars to banish Tidal from his hand and draw 2 cards. Next, he banished Redox and Tidal from his Graveyard to Special Summon Blaster from his Graveyard. He used his banished Redox’s effect to add Reactan to his hand. Next, he discarded Reactan and Tidal to Special Summon Redox from his Deck in Defense Position. He banished 2 Dracossacks from his Graveyard next, in order to Summon Tempest from his Graveyard. Next, Hoban combined both Tempests to Xyz Summon Number 11: Big Eye. Boyajian discarded Effect Veiler to negate Big Eye’s effect. Next, Hoban activated Enemy Controller! He Tributed Big Eye to take control of Crimson Blader and then direct attacks from Crimson Blader and Blaster wiped out Boyajian’s last 5400 Life Points!
