Sunday’s Dragon Duel Feature Match: Thomas Wakeley vs. Steve Zepeda
12-year-old Steve Zepeda from Pennsylvania and 12-year-old Thomas Wakeley from New Jersey are once again Dueling against one another in the final round of Dragon Duels! These two young Duelists faced off against one another yesterday in Saturday’s Dragon Duel Finals, and Zepeda took a quick 2-0 victory with his Bujin Deck. Now, Wakeley is back with his Battlin’ Boxers, aiming to take his first victory against Zepeda. It’s time to Duel!
Duel One
Wakeley opened up Duel 1 with Magnum Shield, Compulsory Evacuation Device, Battlin’ Boxer Glassjaw, Rank-Up Magic Barian’s Force, Nightmare Wheel, and Battlin’ Boxing Spirits. He Set Compulsory Evacuation Device and Nightmare Wheel and Summoned Battlin’ Boxer Glassjaw before ending his turn.
Zepeda Set 2 cards to his back row and activated Kaiser Colisseum. He Summoned Bujingi Quilin and attacked Glassjaw; but Wakeley flipped Compulsory Evacuation Device to return Bujingi Quilin to Zepeda’s hand.
Wakeley drew Double Summon and then ended his turn.
Zepeda Summoned Quilin back to the field and attacked Glassjaw with it. Glassjaw was destroyed by its own effect after being targeted by the attack. Zepeda Set a back row before passing.
Wakeley drew Battlin’ Boxer Headgeared and Summoned it. He activated its effect, but Zepeda flipped Fiendish Chain to negate its effect and prevent it from attacking.
Zepeda Summoned Bujingi Centipede and then attacked Headgeared with his Centipede. Headgeared protected itself with its effect, and then Quilin attacked and destroyed Headgeared. In Main Phase 2, Zepeda combined his Centipede with his Quilin to Xyz Summon Bujintei Kagutsuchi. Zepeda sent the top 5 cards of his Deck to his Graveyard with its effect, and then Wakeley flipped Nightmare Wheel to target Kagutshuchi.
Wakeley drew Draining Shield and then Zepeda lost 500 Life Points to the effect of Nightmare Wheel. He Set it and then activated Battlin’ Boxing Spirits. He sent Reinforcement of the Army from the top of his Deck to his Graveyard to Special Summon Battlin’ Boxer Headgeared in Attack Position and then ended his turn.
Zepeda activated Dark Hole to destroy his own Bujintei Kagutsuchi and Wakeley’s Battlin’ Boxer Headgeared, but detached Bujingin Centipede from Kagutsuchi to protect it. Next, he banished his Centipede from his Graveyard to destroy Nightmare Wheel! Zepeda attacked directly with his Xyz Monster, and Wakeley flipped Draining Shield to increase his Life Points to 9400.
Wakeley drew Mystical Space Typhoon next turn and activated it to destroy Zepeda’s Kaiser Colosseum.
Zepeda attacked directly with Bujintei Kagutshuchi.
Wakeley drew Battlin’ Boxer Rib Gardna and Set it.
Zepeda drew Bujin Mikazuchi and Summoned it. Mikazuchi attacked and destroyed Rib Gardna, and then Kagutsuchi attacked directly.
Wakeley drew Mirror Force and Set it.
Zepeda attacked with Mikazuchi, and Wakeley flipped Mirror Force! Wakeley detached an Xyz Material from Kagutsuchi to protect it, and then attacked directly with Kagutsuchi to drop Wakeley down to 1300 Life Points.
Wakeley drew Bottomless Trap Hole next turn and Set it.
Zepeda Summoned Bujingi Quilin but lost it to Bottomless Trap Hole, and then attacked directly with Kagutsuchi to wipe out the rest of Wakeley’s Life Points!

Duel Two
Wakeley opened up Duel 2 with Mystical Space Typhoon, Overlay Regen, Battlin’ Boxer Headgeared, Battlin’ Boxer Rib Gardna, Rank-Up Magic Barian’s Force, and Battlin’ Boxer Counterpunch. He Set Mystical Space Typhoon and then Summoned Battlin’ Boxer Headgeared. He activated its effect to send Battlin’ Boxer Glassjaw from his Deck to his Graveyard.
Zepeda Set 3 cards to his back row and then Summoned Bujingi Quilin. He attacked Headgeared with Quilon to deal 600 points of damage to Wakeley, but Headgeared survived the battle.
Wakeley drew Mirror Force next turn and Set it. He attacked Quilin with Headgeared and Zepeda flipped Dimensional Prison to banish it. Wakeley Set Rib Gardna before passing.
Zepeda Summoned Bujingi Crow and then combined it with Bujingi Quilin to Xyz Summon Bujintei Kagutsuchi. He activated its effect to send the top 5 cards of his Deck to his Graveyard and then attacked Wakeley’s face-down Rib Gardna to destroy it.
Wakeley drew another Battlin’ Boxer Headgeared next turn and Summoned it. He activated its effect to send Battlin’ Boxer Counterpunch from his Deck to his Graveyard and then ended his turn.
Zepeda Summoned Bujin Yamato and attacked Headgeared with Kagutsuchi. Wakeley banished a Counterpunch from his hand to increase his monster’s ATK and take less damage. Zepeda was unable to attack over the 2000 ATK Headgeared with Yamato. In his End Phase, Zepeda added Bujingi Turtle from his Deck to his hand with Yamato’s effect and discarded it.
Wakeley drew Battlin’ Boxer Rabbit Puncher and Set it.
Zepeda Suummoned Bujin Mikazuchi and attacked Headgeared with Kagutsuchi. Wakeley flipped Mirror Force! Zepeda detached Quilin from Kagutsuchi to protect his Kagutsuchi. Next, Wakeley banished Counterpunch from his Graveyard to increase the ATK of his Headgeared to take less damage.
Wakeley drew Battlin’ Boxer Rib Gardna next turn.
Zepeda activated Prohibition, naming Battlin’ Boxer Lead Yoke. Next, he attacked and destroyed Battlin’ Boxer Rabbit Puncher with Kagutsuchi.
Wakeley drew Battlin’ Boxer Sparrer and combined it with Battlin’ Boxer Headgeared to Xyz Summon Number 39: Utopia; but Zepeda activated Bottomless Trap Hole to banish Utopia!
Zepeda activated Kaiser Colosseum and Wakeley flipped Mystical Space Typhoon to destroy it. Next, Zepeda attacked directly with Kagutsuchi to drop Wakeley down to 3700 Life Points.
Wakeley drew Mirror Force next turn. He Set it along with a Rib Gardna.
Zepeda banished a Centipede from his Graveyard to destroy Wakeley’s face-down Mirror Force and then attacked Rib Gardna to destroy it.
Wakeley drew Magnum Shield and passed.
Zepeda Summoned Bujingi Crane and attacked directly with his Crane and his Kagutsuchi to wipe out Wakeley’s 3700 Life Points!
Thomas Wakeley remains undefeated and become Sunday’s Dragon Duel Champion with Bujins!
