Gabriel Caban from Millville, New Jersey came here to prove the strength of his Battlin’ Boxers. He quickly managed to do so by defeating a Dragon Ruler Deck, a Wind-Up Deck, and a Blackwing Deck to take the victory in a Win-A-Mat Tournament.

Caban’s Deck is full of Battlin’ Boxers. While he may sometimes rely on the core Battlin’ Boxer strategy of quickly Summoning Battlin’ Boxer Lead Yoke to the field with Battlin’ Boxer Switchitter, Battlin’ Boxer Sparrer, and Battlin’ Boxing Spirits, and using Battlin’ Boxer Headgeared to send Battlin’ Boxer Glassjaw and Battlin’ Boxer Counterpunch to his Graveyard, he also has lots of other cool tricks in his Deck.

 

Caban uses Masked Chameleon and Photon Thrasher to Xyz Summon Rank 4 monsters like Battlin’ Boxer Lead Yoke and Synchro Summon Level 8 Synchro Monsters more quickly. Caban can use his Masked Chameleon’s effect to Special Summon either Photon Thrasher or Battlin’ Boxer Glassjaw from his Graveyard, since both of those Level 4 monsters have 0 DEF. Caban is using a full 3 copies each of Photon Thrasher and Battlin’ Boxer Glassjaw. In addition to his 2 Main Decked copies of Masked Chameleon, Caban uses King of Feral Imps in his Extra Deck. After Caban Xyz Summons King of the Feral Imps, he can detach an Xyz Material from it to add Masked Chameleon from his Deck to his hand and set up another Rank 4 Xyz Summon or a Synchro Summon.

 

Caban has also teched out his Deck with 2 copies of Xyz Reflect. Battlin’ Boxer Decks are often thought to be vulnerable to Number 11: Big Eye because of how easily Big Eye can take control of Battlin’ Boxer Lead Yoke; but Xyz Reflect protects Caban’s Xyz Monsters like Lead Yoke from the cards to which it would ordinarily be most vulnerable.

 

Although Caban can Xyz Summon tough-to-destroy monsters like Battlin’ Boxer Lead Yoke, he can also take quick wins with Blade Armor Ninja, Heroic Champion – Excalibur, and Zubaba General. Caban’s ability to change up the pace of his Deck helped lead him to his first place finish in his Win-A-Mat tournament.

 

With the right moves, Battlin’ Boxer Decks can knockout any opponent. We may see Gabriel Caban’s Battlin’ Boxer Deck inspire new Dueling contenders to use Battlin’ Boxer Decks in the future.
