Da Lee is a huge fan of Lightsworn monsters, and frequently uses them in YCS tournaments. He’s back with his Lightsworn Deck this weekend, and this time he piloted it to a 9-1 record. Lee’s Round 11 opponent, Yicheng Li, is hoping to take down Lee with his Prophecy Deck. Only one of these Duelists can finish the Swiss Rounds with a 10-1 record and a guaranteed Top 32 finish. It’s time to Duel!

Duel One

Li started off Duel 1 by activating 2 copies of Upstart Goblin to draw 2 cards and give Lee 2000 Life Points. He revealed 3 Spellbooks from his hand to Special Summon High Priestess of Prophecy and then activated Spellbook of Secrets to add Spellbook Magician of Prophecy from his Deck to his hand. He Summoned it and used its effect to add Spellbook of the Master to his hand. Then he activated Spellbook of the Master and copied the Spellbook of Secrets in his Graveyard. He used its effect to add Spellbook of Fate from his Deck to his hand and Set 2 cards to his back row. Finally, he activated The Grand Spellbook Tower and passed his turn.

Lee opened up with Dark Hole, Blackwing – Zephyros the Elite, Lumina, Lightsworn Summoner, Judgment Dragon, Solemn Warning, and Charge of the Light Brigade. He activated Charge of the Light Brigade by sending Fiendish Chain, Jain, Lightsworn Paladin, and Judgment Dragon from the top of his Deck to his Graveyard and added Garoth, Lightsworn Warrior from his Deck to his hand with its effect. Next, he activated Dark Hole, clearing the field! He Summoned Lumina next, and activated its effect by discarding Garoth; but Li Chained Fiendish Chain to negate its effect. Lee Set Solemn Warning before passing.

Li returned Spellbook of the Master to his Deck with The Grand Spellbook Tower to draw a card and then tried to Summon Spellbook Magician of Prophecy; but Lee flipped Solemn Warning and paid 2000 Life Points to negate its Summon.

Lee drew Fiendish Chain next turn and Set it. He Summoned Zephyros and attacked directly, dropping Li down to 6400 Life Points.

Li drew another card with The Grand Spellbook Tower by sending Spellbook of Secrets back to his Deck and then Set 2 cards to his back row.

Lee drew Plaguespreader Zombie. He Summoned it to the field and Tuned it with Lumina to Synchro Summon Magical Android. Lee attacked with Zephyros and Android, dropping Li down to 2400 Life Points. In his End Phase, Li used Mystical Space Typhoon to destroy Lee’s face-down Fiendish Chain, and Lee gained 600 Life Points due to his Android’s effect.

Li activated Reckless Greed to draw 2 cards. He Special Summoned High Priestess of Prophecy by revealing 3 Spellbooks from his hand and then activated Spellbook of Secrets to add Spellbook of the Master from his Deck to his hand. He activated Spellbook of the Master to copy the effect of Spellbook of Secrets and used its effect to add Spellbook of Life to his hand. Next, he Summoned Justice of Prophecy. He activated the effect of High Priestess of Prophecy by banishing Spellbook of Secrets from his Graveyard and destroyed Magical Android, and then activated Spellbook of Power to increase the ATK of Justice of Prophecy. Justice attacked and destroyed Zephyros, and Li added Spellbook of Wisdom from his Deck to his hand with the effect of Spellbook of Power. Next, High Priestess of Prophecy attacked directly. In Main Phase 2, Li activated Spellbook of Eternity to return Spellbook of Secrets to his hand. In his End Phase, Li banished Justice of Prophecy to add Spellbook of the Master and High Priestess of Prophecy from his Deck to his hand.

Lee drew a card and conceded, unable to take down High Priestess of Prophecy.

A strong start of Yicheng Li brings him the first victory of the Match! Da Lee will be going first in Duel 2!

Duel Two

Lee opened up Duel 2 with Forbidden Lance, Mystical Space Typhoon, Dimensional Prison, Mirror Force, Cyber Dragon, and Lyla, Lightsworn Sorceress.

He Summoned Lyla and Set 4 cards to his back row. He sent Mystical Space Typhoon, Bottomless Trap Hole, and Doomcaliber Knight from his Deck to his Graveyard in the End Phase with the effect of Lyla.

Li activated Spellbook of Secrets to add Spellbook Magician of Prophecy from his Deck to his hand and then Summoned it and used its effect to add Spellbook of the Master from his Deck to his hand. He activated Spellbook of the Master by revealing Spellbook of Eternity and copied the effect of Spellbook of Secrets to add Spellbook of Fate from his Deck to his hand. Li attacked Lyla with Spellbook Magician of Prophecy and then activated Spellbook of Fate to banish 2 Spellbooks from his Graveyard and try to put a monster face-down; but Lee flipped Dimensional Prison to banish Spellbook Magician of Prophecy! Spellbook of Fate resolved to put Lyla face-down, and then Li used Spellbook of Eternity to add Spellbook of Secrets to his hand. Next, Li Set 3 cards to his back row and activated Dimensional Fissure.

Lee tried to Flip Summon his Lyla but lost out to Solemn Warning. Next, Lee activated Mystical Space Typhoon to destroy Mirror Force. He Summoned Doomcaliber Knight next, and when it was threatened by Bottomless Trap Hole, Lee flipped Forbidden Lance to make it unaffected by Spells and Traps. Doomcaliber Knight attacked directly.

Li Summoned Spellbook Magician of Prophecy and activated its effect to force Doomcaliber Knight to Tribute itself.

Lee Summoned Jain, Lightsworn Paladin and attacked directly. He sent Fiendish Chain and Dark Hole from his Deck to his Graveyard in the End Phase.

Li Summoned Justice of Prophecy and then activated Spellbook of Secrets to add Spellbook of Power from his Deck to his hand. He activated Spellbook of Power to increase the ATK of Justice of Prophecy and declared an attack against Jain; but when Lee flipped Mirror Force, Li instantly conceded!

Da Lee wins Duel 2 with his Lightsworn Deck thanks to the many cards he Set to his back row! Yicheng Li will be going first in the final Duel of the Match!

Duel Three

Li started off Duel 3 by activating Spellbook of Secrets to add Spellbook Magician of Prophecy from his Deck to his hand. He Summoned it and used its effect to add Spellbook of the Master to his hand. Next, he activated Spellbook of the Master to copy the effect of Spellbook of Secrets, and added Spellbook of Fate to his hand. Li revealed 3 Spellbooks from his hand to Special Summon High Priestess of Prophecy and then Set 3 cards to his back row. He activated The Grand Spellbook Tower before ending his turn.

Lee opened up Duel 3 with Forbidden Lance, Lyla, Lightsworn Sorceress, Mystical Space Typhoon, Fiendish Chain, Dark Hole, and Bottomless Trap Hole. He activated Dark Hole to clear the field and then activated Mystical Space Typhoon to destroy The Grand Spellbook Tower. Li Special Summoned Justice of Prophecy from his Deck with the effect of The Grand Spellbook Tower. Lee Summoned Lyla, Lightsworn Sorceress next, and Li activated Spellbook of Fate by banishing 3 Spellbooks from his Graveyard. Li banished Lyla with the effect of Spellbook of Fate. Lee Set Fiendish Chain, Forbidden Lance, and Bottomless Trap Hole before passing his turn.

Li activated Spellbook of Eternity to return Spellbook of Secrets to his hand and then activated Reckless Greed to draw 2 cards. Next, he activated Mystical Space Typhoon to destroy Lee’s Fiendish Chain. He followed up by activating another Mystical Space Typhoon to destroy Lee’s Bottomless Trap Hole. Li activated Spellbook of Life next, banishing Spellbook Magician of Prophecy from his Graveyard to Special Summon High Priestess of Prophecy. He banished Spellbook of Fate to try to destroy Lee’s face-down Forbidden Lance and Lee Chained it to weaken High Priestess of Prophecy. Next, Li activated Spellbook of Secrets to add Spellbook of Eternity from his Deck to his hand. He activated Spellbook of Eternity and used its effect to add Spellbook of Fate to his hand. He attacked directly with High Priestess of Prophecy and Justice of Prophecy, and then used Justice of Prophecy’s effect in his End Phase.

Lee drew Banisher of Radiance on his next turn and conceded, unable to take down Li’s field.

Yicheng Li finishes up the Swiss Rounds with a 10-1 record using his Prophecy Deck, guaranteeing himself a spot in the Top 32; but Da Lee ends the Swiss Rounds with a 9-2 record and a strong chance at a Top 32 finish!
