9-year-old Jackson Sayre from Illinois is Dueling against 11-year-old Justin Adams from North Carolina in a Match that will put 2 Dragon Duel winners against one another. Both Duelists have had a lot of success this weekend. Jackson Sayre was Saturday’s Dragon Duel Champion, and Justin Adams was Sunday’s Dragon Duel Champion. But only one of these Duelists can emerge as the ultimate Dragon Duel champion of the weekend! It’s time to Duel!

 

Duel One

 

Sayre opened up Duel 1 with Forbidden Lance, 2 copies of Fire Formation – Tenki, Coach Soldier Wolfbark, Brotherhood of the Fire Fist – Dragon, and Fire Formation – Gyokkou. He Summoned Dragon and then activated Tenki, using his Dragon’s effect to Set Fire Formation – Tensen from his Deck. He added Brotherhood of the Fire Fist - Bear from his Deck to his hand with the effect of Tenki. Sayre Set Gyokkou, Tenki, and Forbidden Lance before ending his turn.

 

 

Adams Summoned Mermail Abysspike and activated its effect by discarding Atlantean Marksman. He added Mermail Abyssgunde to his hand with the effect of Mermail Abysspike and destroyed a face-down Fire Formation – Tenki with the effect of Marksman. Next, Adams discarded Tidal and Mermail Abyssgunde to activate Tidal’s effect and send Mermail Abyssleed from his Deck to his Graveyard. He Special Summoned Mermail Abyssleed with the effect of Mermail Abyssgunde and then attacked Brotherhood of the Fire Fist – Dragon with Abyssleed. Sayre flipped Tensu to increase his monster’s ATK and win the battle, destroying Abyssleed. Adams Set a card to his back row before passing.

 

Sayre activated Gyokkou next turn to pin down Adams’s face-down card. Next, he Summoned Brotherhood of the Fire Fist - Bear. He sent Tenki to the Graveyard to destroy Abysspike with Bear’s effect and then attacked directly with Bear and Dragon to drop Adams down to 3800 Life Points. He activated his Bear’s effect to Set Fire Formation – Tenki from his Deck. In Main Phase 2, he activated his face-down Tenki to add Brotherhood of the Fire Fist - Bear from his Deck to his hand. Next, he combined his Bear with his Dragon to Xyz Summon Abyss Dweller!

 

Adams drew a card and Sayre detached an Xyz Material from Abyss Dweller to activate its effect in Adams’s Standby Phase. Adams Set a monster and then passed his turn.

 

Sayre Summoned Brotherhood of the Fire Fist - Bear next turn and then detached an Xyz Material from Abyss Dweller to activate its effect; but Adams Chained Effect Veiler from his hand. Next, Sayre sent Tenki to the Graveyard to destroy Adams’s face-down Mermail Abysslinde, and Adams Special Summoned Mermail Abyssmegalo from his Deck in Attack Position with Abysslinde’s effect. Abyss Dweller attacked Mermail Abyssmegalo, and Sayre flipped Forbidden Lance in the Damage Step to win the battle. Next, Sayre attacked directly with Bear, dropping Adams down to 1700 Life Points. He Set Tensu from his Deck with Bear’s effect and then flipped it in Main Phase 2. He Set Forbidden Lance before ending his turn.

 

Adams activated Mystical Space Typhoon to destroy Sayre’s Gyokkou. Next, he banished Atlantean Marksman from his Graveyard to Special Summon Aqua Spirit in Defense Position. He activated Abyss-sphere next, in order to Special Summon Mermail Abysspike from his Deck. He combined Mermail Abysspike with Aqua Spirit to Xyz Summon Evilswarm Exciton Knight and then detached an Xyz Material from it to wipe out all other cards on the field!

 

Sayre drew Pot of Duality next turn. He Summoned Coach Soldier Wolfbark and activated its effect to Special Summon Brotherhood of the Fire Fist - Bear from his Graveyard. He combined Bear with Wolfbark to Xyz Summon Number 101: Silent Honor ARK and then detached both Xyz Materials from Number 101 to take Evilswarm Exciton Knight as an Xyz Material. A direct attack from Number 101: Silent Honor ARK finished Adams off!

 

 

Justin Adams makes a strong play with Evilswarm Exciton Knight to try to recover in Duel 1, but Jackson Sayre finishes him off just a turn later with Number 101: Silent Honor ARK! Justin Adams will be going first in Duel 2!

 

Duel Two

 

Adams started off Duel 2 by setting a card to each zone.

 

 

Sayre opened up with Brotherhood of the Fire Fist - Bear, Fire Formation – Gyokkou, Dimensional Fissure, Torrential Tribute, Rivalry of Warlords, and Coach Soldier Wolfbark. He activated Gyokkou to pin down Adams’s back row and then Set his Torrential Tribute and Rivalry of Warlords. He activated Dimensional Fissure next and Summoned Bear. He attacked Adams’s face-down Snowman Eater with his Bear, and Snowman Eater destroyed Bear with its effect when it flipped face-up! Sayre lost 200 Life Points in the battle, and Snowman Eater survived!

 

Adams drew a card and Sayre activated Rivalry of Warlords in his Standby Phase. Next, Adams Summoned Mermail Abysslinde, and Sayre banished all of the monsters on the field by activating Torrential Tribute!

 

Sayre drew Solemn Warning and Set it. He Summoned Coach Soldier Wolfbark next, and Adams flipped Torrential Tribute to banish it.

 

Adams Set a card to his back row and passed.

 

Sayre drew Bottomless Trap Hole and Set it.

 

Adams passed his turn without making a play.

 

Sayre drew Fire Formation – Tenki and passed his turn, unable to play it with 5 cards in his back row.

 

Adams Set a card to his back row and passed.

 

Sayre drew Compulsory Evacuation Device and passed.

 

Adams Set a card to his back row and passed.

 

Sayre drew Effect Veiler and passed.

 

Adams Summoned Mermail Abysspike, and Sayre banished it with Bottomless Trap Hole. Next, Adams activated Abyss-sphere; but Sayre paid 2000 Life Points to negate and destroy it with Solemn Warning!

 

Sayre drew Brotherhood of the Fire Fist - Bear next turn. He activated Fire Formation – Tenki and added Brotherhood of the Fire Fist - Bear from his Deck to his hand. Next, he Summoned Bear and attacked directly, dropping Adams down to 6200 Life Points. He chose not to activate Bear’s effect, and instead Set Compulsory Evacuation Device in his last Spell & Trap Card Zone spot.

 

Adams Set a card and passed.

 

Sayre attacked directly with Bear again, dropping Adams down to 4400 Life Points.

 

Adams activated Dark Hole to banish Brotherhood of the Fire Fist - Bear and then ended his turn.

 

Sayre tried to Summon another Brotherhood of the Fire Fist - Bear; but Adams flipped Solemn Warning and paid 2000 Life Points to negate its Summon.

 

Adams activated Mystical Space Typhoon to destroy Sayre’s Rivalry of Warlords and then banished 2 copies of Mermail Abyssteus from his hand to Special Summon Tidal, Dragon Ruler of Waterfalls. He Summoned Effect Veiler next, and Tuned Tidal with Effect Veiler to Synchro Summon Scrap Dragon. Tidal and Effect Veiler were banished by Dimensional Fissure, and Sayre flipped Compulsory Evacuation Device to return Scrap Dragon to the Extra Deck.

 

Sayre activated Gyokkou to pin down another of Adams’s face-down cards and then ended his turn.

 

Adams Summoned Mermail Abyssturge on his next turn. He attacked directly with Abyssturge to drop Sayre down to 4100 Life Points. Next, he activated Abyss-sphere to Special Summon Mermail Abyssmegalo. Abyssmegalo attacked directly, dropping Sayre down to 1700 Life Points.

 

Sayre drew Pot of Duality and activated it, revealing Forbidden Lance, Fiendish Chain, and Coach Soldier Wolfbark from the top of his Deck. He added Fiendish Chain to his hand and then shuffled the other 2 cards back into his Deck. Sayre Set Fiendish Chain and then ended his turn. Abyss-sphere went to the Graveyard and Mermail Abyssmegalo was destroyed.

Justin Adams drew and Summoned Atlantean Marksman next turn! He attacked with Atlantean Marksman and then used its effect to Special Summon Atlantean Dragoons from his Deck. A direct attack from Atlantean Dragoons finished Sayre off!

Duel Three

 

Sayre opened up Duel 3 with 2 copies of Fire Formation – Tenki, Fire Formation – Gyokkou, Brotherhood of the Fire Fist - Bear, Coach Soldier Wolfbark, and Compulsory Evacuation Device. He activated Tenki and used its effect to add a Bear from his Deck to his hand. He Set Compulsory Evacuation Device, Tenki, and Gyokkou to his back row and then Summoned Bear before ending his turn.

 

Adams Summoned Mermail Abysspike and activated its effect by discarding Mermail Abysslinde. He added Mermail Abyssgunde from his Deck to his hand with the effect of his Abysspike. Adams Set 3 cards to his back row and then ended his turn.

 

Sayre drew a card and then activated his face-down Gyokkou, targeting one of Adams’s back rows to prevent it from being activated. Next, Sayre flipped Fire Formation – Tenki, using its effect to add Coach Soldier Wolfbark from his Deck to his hand. He sent Tenki to his Graveyard to activate Bear’s effect, and Adams discarded Mermail Abyssgunde to activate Divine Wrath and negate Bear’s effect while destroying Bear. He Special Summoned Mermail Abysslinde from his Graveyard with the effect of his discarded Mermail Abyssgunde. Sayre Summoned Wolfbark next and tried to use its effect, but lost out to Adams’s Effect Veiler. Sayre attacked and destroyed Abysspike with Wolfbark next. Adams lost 200 Life Points in the battle. Sayre Set a card to his back row before ending his turn.

Sayre activated Wolfbark’s effect to Special Summon Bear from his Graveyard, and Adams flipped Torrential Tribute to clear the field! Adams Special Summoned Mermail Abyssmegalo from his Deck in Attack Position with the effect of Abysslinde. Next, Sayre Set Fiendish Chain. He Summoned another Wolfbark next, and then activated Compulsory Evacuation Device to return Mermail Abyssmegalo to Adams’s hand. He attacked directly with Wolfbark, dropping Adams down to 6000 Life Points.

 

Adams Summoned Mermail Abysspike and activated its effect by discarding Mermail Abyssmegalo. He added Mermail Abyssgunde from his Deck to his hand with its effect, and then discarded Tidal and Mermail Abyssgunde to activate Tidal’s effect and send Atlantean Marksman from his Deck to his Graveyard. Sayre flipped Fiendish Chain, targeting Abysspike. Next, Adams banished Mermail Abyssgunde and Atlantean Marksman from his Graveyard to Special Summon Tidal, Dragon Ruler of Waterfalls. Neither player realized that Adams couldn’t use Tidal’s effect for a second time in the same turn. He Tributed Abysspike to activate Abyssmegalo’s effect and let it attack twice, and then attacked Wolfbark with Abyssmegalo; but Sayre flipped Mirror Force to destroy Tidal and Abyssmegalo, while protecting his own monsters!

 

Sayre Summoned Brotherhood of the Fire Fist - Bear and then activated Wolfbark’s effect to Special Summon another Bear from his Graveyard. He combined a Bear with a Wolfbark to Xyz Summon Brotherhood of the Fire Fist – Tiger King and then used Tiger King’s effect to Set Tensu from his Deck. He flipped Tensu and then used its effect to Normal Summon Wolfbark. He attacked directly with Wolfbark, Bear, and Tiger King to finish off the rest of Adams’s Life Points!
