North Carolina’s 11-year-old Justin Adams is currently 4-0 in the Dragon Duels. He is the last remaining undefeated Duelist. Local 10-year-old Illinois Duelist Zachery Taylor is currently 3-1. Now, these two Mermail Duelists  are Dueling against one another in a Dragon Duel Feature Match. Justin Adams is looking to secure a perfect 5-0 record that will guarantee him a spot in the Dragon Duel playoffs tomorrow afternoon; but Zachery Taylor won’t make that easy for him. Zachery needs a victory in this round if he hopes to achieve a Top 4 finish. It’s time to Duel!

Duel One

Taylor started off Duel 1 by Setting a monster.

Adams opened up Duel 1 with Creature Swap, Mystical Space Typhoon, Abyss-sphere, Mermail Abyssteus, Atlantean Marksman, and Tidal, Dragon Ruler of Waterfalls. He discarded Atlantean Marksman to Special Summon Mermail Abyssteus and then used Mermail Abyssteus’s effect to add Mermail Abyssgunde from his Deck to his hand. He destroyed Taylor’s face-down Mermail Abysspike with Marksman’s effect. Next, Adams discarded Tidal and Mermail Abyssgunde to activate Tidal’s effect and send Mermail Abyssmegalo from his Deck to his Graveyard. He used Mermail Abyssgunde’s effect to Special Summon Mermail Abyssmegalo and then attacked directly with Abyssteus and Abyssmegalo to drop Adams down to 3900 Life Points. In Main Phase 2, Adams combined Mermail Abyssmegalo and Mermail Abyssteus to Xyz Summon Mermail Abyssgaios. He Set Mystical Space Typhoon and Abyss-sphere before ending his turn.

Taylor Summoned Atlantean Heavy Infantry and then activated Creature Swap! He handed over his Atlantean Heavy Infantry and took control of Abyssgaios. Next, he discarded Atlantean Marksman to Special Summon Mermail Abyssteus from his hand and added Mermail Abysslinde from his Deck to his hand with Abyssteus’s effect. He destroyed Adams’s face-down Mystical Space Typhoon with the effect of his discarded Marksman. He banished Marksman from his Graveyard to Special Summon Aqua Spirit next, and attacked Atlantean Heavy Infantry with Aqua Spirit to destroy Atlantean Heavy Infantry. Next, he attacked directly with Abyssgaios to drop Adams down to 3600 Life Points.

Adams Summoned Mermail Abyssteus next, and then activated Abyss-sphere. He Special Summoned Mermail Abyssturge from his Deck with its effect and then attacked Aqua Spirit with Abyssturge to destroy Aqua Spirit. In Main Phase 2, Adams combined Abysspike with Abyssturge to Xyz Summon Bahamut Shark in Defense Position. He detached an Xyz Material to try to activate its effect, but Taylor detached an Xyz Material from Abyssgaios to negate it!

Taylor Summoned Genex Controller next turn and Tuned it with Mermail Abyssteus to Synchro Summon Leo, the Keeper of the Sacred Tree. He attacked Bahamut Shark with Abyssgaios to destroy it and then ended his turn.

Adams Summoned Atlantean Dragoons and then activated Creature Swap! Taylor gave Abyssgaios back to Adams and took control of Dragoons. Abyssgaios attacked and destroyed Atlantean Dragoons.

Taylor discarded Mermail Abyssturge from his hand to Special Summon Mermail Abyssteus and added Mermail Abysslinde to his hand with the effect of Mermail Abyssteus. He Summoned Mermail Abysslinde to the field and attacked Mermail Abyssgaios with it. He lost 1300 Life Points and Special Summoned Mermail Abyssmegalo from his Deck. He combined Mermail Abyssmegalo with Mermail Abyssteus to Xyz Summon Mermail Abyssgaios and then ended his turn.

Adams drew Abyss-sphere and Set it.

Taylor attacked Mermail Abyssgaios with his own Abyssgaios, destroying them both. Leo attacked directly next, and Adams flipped Abyss-sphere to Special Summon Mermail Abysslinde from his Deck. Leo destroyed Abysslinde in battle, and Adams Special Summoned Mermail Abyssleed from his Deck with Abysslinde’s effect.

Adams drew Atlantean Heavy Infantry and then switched his Abyssleed into Defense Position.

Taylor Summoned Mermail Abysslinde and attacked Mermail Abyssleed with it to destroy it. Next, Leo attacked directly, dropping Adams down to 500 Life Points.

Adams banished Mermail Abyssgaios from his Graveyard to Special Summon Aqua Spirit in Defense Position and then Set his Atlantean Heavy Infantry.

Taylor Special Summoned Mermail Abyssteus from his hand by discarding Mermail Abyssleed, and Adams instantly conceded, overwhelmed by Taylor’s Mermail monsters.

Duel Two

Adams opened up Duel 2 with Mermail Abysspike, Mermail Abysslinde, Mirror Force, Mystical Space Typhoon, and 2 copies of Atlantean Marksman. He Set Mermail Abysslinde, Mirror Force, and Mystical Space Typhoon before ending his turn.

Taylor Set 2 cards to his back row and then discarded Atlantean Dragoons from his hand to Special Summon Mermail Abyssteus. He added Mermail Abyssgunde to his hand with the effect of Mermail Abyssteus and added Deep Sea Diva to his hand with the effect of Atlantean Dragoons. Next, Taylor discarded Mermail Abysslinde and Mermail Abyssgunde to Special Summon Mermail Abyssmegalo. He activated the effect of Mermail Abyssmegalo to add Abyss-sphere from his Deck to his hand and used the effect of Mermail Abyssgunde to Special Summon Mermail Abysslinde from his Graveyard in Attack Position. He Set Abyss-sphere and then Summoned Deep Sea Diva. He activated his Diva’s effect to Special Summon Atlantean Marksman from his Deck. Next, he Tuned Atlantean Marksman with Deep Sea Diva to Synchro Summon Armades, Keeper of Boundaries. He combined Mermail Abyssteus and Mermail Abyssmegalo to Xyz Summon Mecha Phantom Beast Dracossack next, and detached an Xyz Material from Dracossack to Special Summon 2 Mecha Phantom Beast Tokens to the field. He attacked with Mermail Abysslinde and Adams flipped Mirror Force! Dracossack was protected due to the presence of the 2 Tokens, and Mermail Abysslinde and Armades were destroyed. Taylor Special Summoned Mermail Abyssleed from his Deck with the effect of Mermail Abysslinde. Dracossack attacked and destroyed Adams’s face-down Mermail Abysslinde, and Adams Special Summoned Mermail Abyssleed from his Deck in Attack Position. Taylor attacked Adams’s Mermail Abyssleed with his own Abyssleed, destroying them both in battle.

Adams Summoned Mermail Abysspike next turn. He discarded Atlantean Marksman, targeting Taylor’s face-down Abyss-sphere with its effect. Taylor Chained the targeted Abyss-sphere, and Adams Chained Mystical Space Typhoon to destroy it. Adams added Mermail Abyssgunde to his hand with the effect of his Abysspike. He attacked and destroyed a Mecha Phantom Beast Token before ending his turn.

Taylor banished Mermail Abyssgunde from his Graveyard to Special Summon Aqua Spirit, and then Adams discarded Maxx “C” from his hand. Taylor flipped Abyss-sphere next, to Special Summon Mermail Abyssmegalo from his Deck in Attack Position. Adams drew a card with Maxx “C”. Next, Taylor activated another Abyss-sphere to Special Summon Mermail Abyssteus. Mermail Abyssteus attacked and destroyed Mermail Abysspike, and then Mermail Abyssmegalo, Aqua Spirit, and Dracossack attacked directly. Taylor dropped down to 1300 Life Points. In Main Phase 2, Taylor combined Mermail Abyssmegalo and Mermail Abyssteus to Xyz Summon Mermail Abyssgaios, and Adams drew another card for Maxx “C”.

Adams drew Compulsory Evacuation Device next turn. He activated Dark Hole to clear the field of everything except for Dracossack! Next, he Set Compulsory Evacuation Device and Divine Wrath.

Taylor drew a card and Adams flipped Compulsory Evacuation Device to return Dracossack to the Extra Deckin Taylor’s Draw Phase; but it was all over moments later! Taylor drew Genex Controller and Summoned it to the field! He attacked directly, wiping out Adams’s last 1300 Life Points! Adams’s face-down Divine Wrath was unable to help him!

Zachery Taylor defeats Justin Adams 2-0 in a Mermail mirror-Match to secure a spot in the Top 4! With no undefeated Duelists left in the tournament, tie-breakers will determine which Dragon Duelist takes the first place finish!
