We just couldn’t get enough of Robert Boyajian’s awesome Ghostrick Spirit Deck, so we brought him back again for the final round of Swiss. He’s up against Seyed Aghaseyedali, packing Geargia. These two Duelists are well acquainted from their local tournaments, and were a bit sad they had to play each other. A win here will cement their place in the Top 32, while the loser will have to rely on tiebreakers.

Duel 1

Boyajian had Pot of Dichotomy, Seven Tools of the Bandit, Black Horn of Heaven, Kagetokage, Ghostrick Mary, and Mystical Space Typhoon. He Set Seven Tools, Black Horn, and Typhoon.

Aghaseyedali played Upstart Goblin, then Geargiarsenal. It attacked directly, and Boyajian used Ghostrick Mary to get Ghostrick Jiangshi. Aghaseyedali Tributed Geargiarsenal to get Geargiaccelerator in defense position, then Set five back row cards!

Boyajian drew another Ghostrick Jiangshi, and flipped up the Jiangshi on the field. Aghaseyedali flipped Fiendish Chain, and Boyajian responded with Mystical Space Typhoon. Jiangshi searched out Ghostrick Mary. Boyajian Normal Summoned his other Jiangshi, Aghaseyedali used Torrential Tribute, and Boyajian negated it with Seven Tools! He Xyz Summoned Ghostrick Alucard and used its effect. Aghaseyedali Chained the targeted Mystical Space Typhoon, destroying Black Horn of Heaven. Alucard attacked Geargiaccelerator, and it returned Geargiarsenal to the hand.

Aghaseyedali played Geargiarsenal next turn, using its effect to bring Geargiarmor to the field. He Set a card, leaving Geargiarmor face-up to avoid Alucard’s effect.

Boyajian drew Nikitama. He had Alucard target a card, and Aghaseyedali Chained it – Call of the Haunted, reviving Geargiaccelerator. Boyajian Summoned Nikitama and Kagetokage, so he could Xyz Summon Number 101: Silent Honor ARK! Its effect stole Geargiaccelerator, then it destroyed Geargiarmor in battle. Alucard attacked directly.

Aghaseyedali Set a back row card.

Boyajian drew a new Black Horn of Heaven. He used Pot of Dichotomy, returning Jiangshi, Nikitama, and Kagetokage to the Deck to draw Fiendish Chain and Aratama. He Summoned the latter, and Aghaseyedali dropped to 4200 to use Solemn Warning. Boyajian Set Black Horn and Fiendish Chain, losing both to Mystical Space Typhoon and Dust Tornado in the End Phase.

Aghaseyedali drew, now with nothing but a dead Call of the Haunted on the field and only the one card in his hand… but he had Geargiano Mk-II! It revived Geargiarsenal, which Tributed itself to get Geargiano. He Xyz Summoned Temtempo the Percussion Djinn, attacking Silent Honor ARK. He activated Temtempo’s effect to take ARK’s Xyz material and destroyed it in battle, and Boyajian used Ghostrick Mary to get Ghostrick Jiangshi.

Boyajian drew Torrential Tribute, and flipped up Jiangshi to add Ghostrick Specter to his hand. Jiangshi flipped face-down, and Boyajian Set Torrential Tribute.

Temtempo attacked Jiangshi, which searched out another Ghostrick Mary. When Jiangshi went down, Specter came down to let Boyajian draw Allure of Darkness. Aghaseyedali Set a back row card.

Boyajian drew Bottomless Trap Hole. He flipped up Specter and played Mary, then Xyz Summoned Ghostrick Dullahan. Dullahan attacked Temtempo – Boyajian used Dullahan’s effect in the Damage Step, and Temtempo Chained its own effect to knock off Dullahan’s Xyz Material before having its ATK halved. Alucard attacked directly, and Boyajian Set Bottomless Trap Hole. When Aghaseyedali drew his last card, he conceded!

Robert Boyajian has taken the lead, using both Ghostrick Xyz Monsters in tandem! The Duelists moved to their Side Decks, hoping to gain an edge.

Duel 2

Aghaseyedali started with a Set monster and four back row cards.

Boyajian had Seven Tools of the Bandit, Torrential Tribute, 2 Mystical Space Typhoons, Aratama, and Ghostrick Mary. He played out Aratama to get Nikitama, then Set all of his Spell and Trap Cards.

Aghaseyedali flipped Geargiarmor, nabbing a Geargiaccelerator from his Deck. Geargiarmor attacked directly, and Boyajian’s Ghostrick Mary brought Ghostrick Jiangshi to the field. Geargiarmor went face-down, and another Set monster joined it.

Boyajian drew Black Horn of Heaven. He flipped up his Jiangshi, adding Ghostrick Mary to his hand. Nikitama and Aratama came down next, and Boyajian added another Nikitama to his hand. Jiangshi flipped face-down, Boyajian Set Black Horn, and his Spirits returned to his hand.

Aghaseyedali flipped up two copies of Geargiarmor this turn, searching out Geargiano Mk-II and Geargiaccelerator. He Special Summoned Geargiaccelerator and Xyz Summoned Gear Gigant X, and Boyajian went with Torrential Tribute, Aghaseyedali used Seven Tools of the Bandit, and Boyajian used his own Seven Tools to force Torrential Tribute through! Aghaseyedali Normal Summoned Geargiano and revived Geargiaccelerator, attacking directly. Boyajian used Ghostrick Mary for a new Jiangshi, face-down. Aghaseyedali Set Solemn Warning, and Boyajian destroyed it with Mystical Space Typhoon.

Boyajian drew Allure of Darkness. He flipped up Jiangshi to add Ghostrick Specter to his hand. Allure was next, and he drew Kagetokage and Mystical Space Typhoon, banishing Specter. Boyajian used Mystical Space Typhoon to hit a random card, and Aghaseyedali Chained it – Compulsory Evacuation Device, returning Jiangshi. Boyajian flipped his next Mystical Space Typhoon, hitting Black Horn of Heaven. Aghaseyedali had one last card in his back row, but Boyajian went on unafraid! He played Nikitama, Aratama, and Kagetokage, and searched out another Nikitama with Aratama’s effect. He stacked Kagetokage and Nikitama for Number 101: Silent Honor ARK, and it swiped Geargiaccelerator. Nikitama’s effect gave him Mind Control. Finally, Aratama and Silent Honor ARK attacked directly. He Set Mind Control to finish, losing it to Mystical Space Typhoon. Aratama returned to the hand.

Aghaseyedali played Geargiano Mk-II, reviving Geargiano. He Xyz Summoned Temtempo the Percussion Djinn, but it was lost to Black Horn of Heaven. Aghaseyedali offered the handshake!
