Round 2 Feature Match: Thomas Mak Versus Zachary Kibort
Local Philadephia Duelist Thomas Mak recently won YCS Chicago by using his Bujin Deck throughout the Advanced Format portion of the tournament. Now he’s back with Madolches, looking to take another YCS title. Madolche Decks got a huge boost in the form of Madolche Anjelly with the release of Primal Origin, and Mak is looking to take advantage of that surge in Madolche power. But Zachary Kibort won’t make that easy for him. Kibort is using a Gravekeeper’s Deck that can shut down Mak’s most powerful Graveyard effects with Necrovalley. Who will prevail in this Round 2 Feature Match? It’s time to Duel!
Duel One
Mak opened up with Madolche Anjelly, Madolchepalooza, Madolche Magileine, Madolche Mewfeuille, Compulsory Evacuation Device, and Madolche Chateau. He Summoned Anjelly and activated her effect to Special Summon Madolche Hootcake from his Deck. He activated Hootcake’s effect to banish Anjelly from his Graveyard and Special Summon Madolche Messengelato from his Deck, and used Messengelato’s effect to add Madolche Ticket from his Deck to his hand. He Set Compulsory Evacuation Device and Madolchepalooza before ending his turn.
Kibort discarded 2 copies of Gravekeeper’s Commandant from his hand to grab 2 copies of Necrovalley from his Deck and then Set a monster. Next, he played Necrovalley and activated Royal Tribute! Mak Chained Compulsory Evacuation Device to return Kibort’s face-down monster to his hand and then Royal Tribute forced Mak to discard Magileine and Mewfeuille. Kibort, however, discarded Gravekeeper’s Descendant, Gravekeeper’s Recruiter, and Gravekeeper’s Assailant!
Mak activated Madolche Chateau and shuffled Madolche Magileine and Madolche Mewfeuille from his Graveyard into his Deck. Next, he used Madolche Ticket’s effect to add Madolche Anjelly from his Deck to his hand. He Summoned Anjelly and then Tributed it to Special Summon Madolche Magileine from his Deck. Next, he activated the effect of Hootcake to banish Anjelly from his Graveyard and Special Summon Mewfeuille from his Deck in Defense Position. He combined Mewfeuille with Hootcake to Xyz Summon Mechquipped Angineer in Attack Position and then attacked directly with Magileine, Messengelato, and Mechquipped Angineer. In Main Phase 2, Mak Set a card to his back row before passing.
Kibort activated Pot of Duality, revealing Gravekeeper’s Descendant, Fire Hand, and Imperial Tombs of Necrovalley from the top of his Deck. He added Fire Hand to his hand and shuffled the other 2 cards back into his Deck. He activated Necrovalley and Set Fire Hand before ending his turn.

Direct attacks from Angineer and Tiaramisu wiped out Kibort’s last 2200 Life Points!
