Long Island’s Samuel Miller bravely entered this weekend’s tournament with a Koa’ki Meiru Deck featuring the new Diamond Core of Koa’ki Meiru. Although Koa’ki Meirus have been around for years, they have never before been a major presence on the competitive tournament scene. Samuel Miller is looking to change that. His opponent in this Round 3 Feature Match is Ernesto Bostick – a Duelist from Allentown, Pennsylvania who is using using a Madolche Deck powered up by the new Madolche Anjelly card in Primal Origin. Both of these Duelists’ Decks received a huge boost with the recent release of Primal Origin, but only one of these Duelists can win this Match. It’s time to Duel!

 

Duel One

 

Ernesto Bostick started off Duel 1 by activating Madolche Ticket. He Summoned Madolche Anjelly next, and Tributed it to activate its effect. Miller Chained Maxx “C” to its effect, and when Bostick Special Summoned Madolche Hootcake from his Deck, Miller drew a card. Next, Bostick activated Madolche Chateau. He put his Anjelly back into his Deck and then used the effect of Ticket to add Anjelly to his hand. He Set 2 cards to his back row before ending his turn.

 

 

Samuel Miller started off his first turn with Diamond Core of Koa’ki Meiru, Iron core of Koa’ki Meiru, Wiretap, Black Horn of Heaven, Brotherhood of the Fire Fist - Bear, and Forbidden Lance. He activated Diamond Core of Koa’ki Meiru to add Koa’ki Meiru Urnight from his Deck to his hand and then banished his Diamond Core from his Graveyard to protect his Koa’ki Meirus for the turn. Next, he Summoned Urnight to the field and revealed Iron Core of Koa’ki Meiru from his hand to activate Urnight’s effect and Special Summon Koa’ki Meiru Crusader from his Deck. He combined Urnight with Crusader to Xyz Summon Number 103: Ragnazero and used its effect to detach an Xyz Material and destroy Madolche Hootcake, which had increased ATK due to the effect of Madolche Chateau. Miller drew a card with Ragnazero’s effect and Bostick added Hootcake to his hand with the effect of Ticket. Miller Set 3 cards to his back row before passing.

 

Bostick Summoned Mewfeuille and then used its effect to Special Summon Anjelly from his hand. Miller activated the effect of Number 103: Ragnazero to destroy Anjelly and draw a card by giving up Ragnazero’s last Xyz Material. Bostick added Messengelato to his hand with the effect of Ticket and added Anjelly to his hand.

 

Miller Summoned Bear next turn and then attacked Mewfeuille with Ragnazero. Mewfeuille returned to Bostick’s hand and Bostick added Magileine to his hand with Ticket’s effect. Next, Bear attacked directly, dropping Bostick down to 5000 Life Points. Miller Set Tenki from his Deck with Bear’s effect and then activated Tenki in Main Phase 2 to add Urnight from his Deck to his hand.

 

Bostick Summoned Mewfeuille and activated its effect; but Miller discarded Effect Veiler from his hand to negate its effect! Bostick flipped Madolchepalooza next, and Miller flipped Wiretap to negate it and shuffle it back into Bostick’s Deck! Bostick Set 1 cards to his back row before passing.

 

Miller Summoned another Urnight to the field and revealed the Iron Core of Koa’ki Meiru from his hand to activate its effect. He Special Summoned Koa’ki Meiru Crusader from his Deck with Urnight’s effect and then attacked Mewfeuille with his Crusader. Bostick conceded, about to be attacked by Urnight, Ragnazero, and Brotherhood of the Fire Fist - Bear.

Duel Two

 

Bostick started off Duel 2 by Setting a card to each zone.

 

Miller opened up Duel 2 with Fire Formation – Tensu, Coach Soldier Wolfbark, Soul Charge, 2 copies of Maxx “C”, and Koa’ki Meiru Urnight. He Summoned Urnight and then activated Fire Formation – Tensu. He used its effect to Normal Summon Wolfbark and then combined Wolfbark with Urnight to Xyz Summon Brotherhood of the Fire Fist – Tiger King. He tried to activate its effect, but lost out to Effect Veiler. Next, he attacked and destroyed Bostick’s face-down Madolche Messengelato, causing Bostick to shuffle Messengelato back into his Deck.

 

 

Bostick activated Madolche Chateau and then Summoned Madolche Hootcake. He activated its effect, and Miller Chained Maxx “C”! Bostick banished Effect Veiler from his Graveyard to Special Summon Madolche Messengelato from his Deck in Defense Position, and Miller drew Mystical Space Typhoon off of the effect of Maxx “C”. Bostick added Madolche Ticket to his hand with the effect of Messengelato. Bostick Set a card to his back row before ending his turn.

 

Miller drew Solemn Warning next turn. He attacked Bostick’s Hootcake with his Tiger King, and Bostick returned the Hootcake to his hand thanks to Chateau. Next, he added Anjelly to his hand with the effect of his Madolche Ticket. Bostick Set Mystical Space Typhoon and Solemn Warning before ending his turn.

 

Bostick flipped Trap Stun! He Summoned Anjelly and Tributed it to activate its effect; but Miller Chained Maxx “C” from his hand! Bostick Special Summoned Messengelato from his Deck and Miller drew Call of the Haunted thanks to Maxx “C”. Next, Bostick combined Anjelly and Messengelato to Summon Madolche Queen Tiaramisu. Miller drew another card thanks to Maxx “C”. Bostick detached an Xyz Material from Tiaramisu to return 2 Madolche cards from his Graveyard to his Deck and send Miller’s 2 face-down cards back into his Deck. Next, Bostick used the effect of his Ticket to add Madolche Mewfeuille from his Deck to his hand. Madolche Queen Tiaramisu attacked and destroyed Tiger King next, and Bostick Set a card to his back row before passing.

 

Miller activated Soul Charge! He paid 2000 Life Points to Special Summon Wolfbark and Urnight from his Graveyard and then combined them to Summon Brotherhood of the Fire Fist – Tiger King. He activated its effect, and when Bostick flipped Fiendish Chain to try to negate its effect, Miller Chained Forbidden Lance from his hand to make Tiger King unaffected by the Fiendish Chain. He Set Tenki from his Deck with Tiger King’s effect and activated it to add Bear from his Deck to his hand. Next, he used Tensu’s effect to Normal Summon Brotherhood of the Fire Fist - Bear from his hand; but Bostick flipped Solemn Warning and gave up 2000 Life Points to negate Bear’s Summon. Samuel Miller quickly conceded with no way to overcome Bostick’s combination of Madolche cards.

Duel Three

 

Samuel Miller started off Duel 3 with Iron Core of Koa’ki Meiru, Koa’ki Meiru Urnight, Maxx “C”, Koa’ki Meiru Crusader, and 2 copies of Fire Formation – Tenki.

 

 

He Summoned Urnight and then revealed the Iron Core of Koa’ki Meiru to activate its effect. He Special Summoned Koa’ki Meiru Crusader from his Deck and combined it with Urnight to Xyz Summon Brotherhood of the Fire Fist – Tiger King. He tried using Tiger King’s effect; but Bostick discarded Effect Veiler from his hand to negate it. Next, Miller activated Fire Formation – Tenki and used its effect to add Koa’ki Meiru Urnight from his Deck to his hand.

 

Bostick Set 4 cards to his back row and passed his turn.

 

Miller drew Wiretap. Miller activated Fire Formation – Tenki, but Bostick Chained Dust Tornado to immediately destroy it. Miller attacked directly with Tiger King to drop Bostick down to 5700 Life Points and then ended his turn. Miller Set Wiretap before passing.

 

Bostick Summoned Madolche Magileine and activated its effect to add another Magileine to his hand.

 

Miller drew Solemn Warning. He Summoned Koa’ki Meiru Urnight and then revealed the Iron Core of Koa’ki Meiru from his hand to activate its effect. Bostick Chained Fiendish Chain to try to negate its effect; but Miller Chained Wiretap to negate Fiendish Chain and shuffle Fiendish Chain back into Bostick’s Deck. Miller Special Summoned Koa’ki Meiru Crusader from his Deck with Urnight’s effect. Miller activated Tiger King’s effect by detaching Urnight from it, and then attacked Magileine with Crusader to destroy it. Miller added Urnight from his Graveyard to his hand with Crusader’s effect and then attacked directly with Tiger King and Urnight, dropping Bostick down to 700 Life Points. Miller combined Urnight with Crusader to try to Summon Gagaga Cowboy in Main Phase 2; but Bostick flipped Black Horn of Heaven to negate its Summon! Miller Set a card to his back row before passing.

 

Bostick Set a card to his back row and Set Madolche Messengelato.

 

Miller drew Mystical Space Typhoon and activated it to destroy Bostick’s face-down Bottomless Trap Hole. Next he Summoned Koa’ki Meiru Crusader, and Bostick flipped Torrential Tribute to clear the field! Miller Set his Iron Core of Koa’ki Meiru before ending his turn.

 

Bostick tried to Summon Magileine next turn, and Miller flipped Solemn Warning to negate its Summon and destroy it, causing Bostick to shuffle it back into his Deck. He Set a card to his back row before passing his turn.

 

Miller Summoned Brotherhood of the Fire Fist - Bear and tried to attack and end the Duel with it; but Bostick flipped Fiendish Chain to stop the attack and negate Bear’s effect!

 

Bostick drew and Summoned Madolche Hootcake next turn! He activated its effect, prompting Miller to discard Maxx “C” from his hand. Bostick banished Effect Veiler from his Graveyard to Special Summon Madolche Anjelly, and Miller drew Koa’ki Meiru Urnight from his Deck thanks to Maxx “C”. Next, Bostick Tributed Anjelly to Special Summon Messengelato from his Deck in Defense Position. Miller drew Forbidden Lance thanks to Maxx “C”, and Bostick added Madolche Chateau to his hand with the effect of Messengelato. He activated the Chateau to shuffle all of his fallen Madolches back into his Deck and then attacked Bear with Hootcake to destroy it and drop Miller down to 5600 Life Points.

 

But it was all over for Bostick on the next turn! Miller activated Fire Formation – Tenki to add Coach Soldier Wolfbark from his Deck to his hand and then Summoned it. Next, he used his Coach Soldier’s effect to Special Summon Brotherhood of the Fire Fist - Bear from his Graveyard. He combined Wolfbark with Bear to Xyz Summon Bujintei Kagutsuchi and used its effect to send the top 5 cards from his Deck to his Graveyard. An attack from Bujintei Kagutsuchi over Madolche Hootcake, assisted by Forbidden Lance, wiped out the rest of Miller’s Life Points!
