Yu-Gi-Oh! HeroClix Tournaments At The YCS!
Booster Packs of Yu-Gi-Oh! HeroClix Set 1 just hit shelves a few weeks ago, and for many duelists attending YCS Philly, this is their first chance to try the game! The NECA/Wizkids team is on-hand to run demos all weekend, but they’re also running 4-man tournaments as well: as soon as eight players are ready to go, they’re split into two groups and play off in four-player free for alls.
The winner of each showdown goes home with an exclusive, Limited Edition Celtic Guardian mini that’s only available through Organized Play. Check it out!
The Celtic Guardian has a wealth of abilities based off its swiftness and its deadly blade. Effects like Charge and Lightning Fast let it move freely and attack when other figures can’t, while Flurry and Blades/Claws/Fangs demonstrate the Guardian’s merit as a swordsman. It’s even got its signature special attack, Silverblade Slash!
So how do the tournaments work? Flights of eight competitors are split into two separate groups, and each functions as a mini tournament experience. That way nobody ever gets triple-teamed by three friends on one map. Players open six booster packs of Yu-Gi-Oh! HeroClix Set 1, those six figs become their team, and they plunge right into the action. All four players duke it out and there are two ways to win: knock out all three opponents, or score the most points in KO’d figs when time runs out. Each game plays out on one of two unique maps exclusive to Organized Play events, and each victor scores a Celtic Guardian.
The same Celtic Guardian mini will be available as prize support at local game stores running tournaments, and you can find them in your area right here. While you’re at it, check out more Yu-Gi-Oh! HeroClix stuff over at the official HeroClix website too. With Yu-Gi-Oh! HeroClix set to become a regular feature at YCS weekends, now’s the perfect time to try the game and get in on the ground floor!
