13-year-old Brandon Bird from North Carolina is Dueling against 12-year-old Andrew Fruend from Missouri in a Feature Match that will determine which one of these two Duelists will be invited to compete in the 2014 Dragon Duel World Championship on August 9th and 10th. Only the top 2 Dragon Duelists in North America will receive paid airfare and accommodations to attend the World Championship in Rimini, Italy, so the stakes have never been higher for these 2 Duelists. The pressure is on, as the Match is about to begin. It’s time to Duel!

Duel One

Bird opened up Duel 1 with Pot of Dichotomy, Maxx “C”, Wiretap, Fiendish Chain, and 2 copies of Double Cyclone. He Set 4 cards to his back row and then ended his turn.

Fruend Summoned Madolche Magileine and tried to activate its effect; but Bird flipped Fiendish Chain to negate it. Fruend Set 2 cards to his back row before passing. In his End Phase, Bird activated Double Cyclone, targeting his other Double Cyclone and Fruend’s face-down Book of Moon. Then he Chained another Double Cyclone, targeting his activated Cyclone and Fruend’s face-down Wiretap. Book of Moon and Wiretap were destroyed.

Bird Set a card to his back row and passed his turn.

Fruend Summoned Madolche Anjelly and Tributed it to activate its effect. Bird Chained Maxx “C” to draw a card when Fruend Special Summoned Madolche Hootcake from his Deck. He tried to use Hootcake’s effect, but Bird flipped Traptrix Trap Hole Nightmare to negate Hootcake’s effect and destroy it.

Bird drew Ice Hand next turn and Summoned it. He attacked Magileine with Ice Hand, destroying both monsters, and then used his Ice Hand’s effect to destroy Fruend’s face-down Mirror Force and Special Summon a Fire Hand from his Deck. He attacked directly with Fire Hand before ending his turn.

Fruend activated Dark Hole to destroy Fire Hand and then Summoned Madolche Hootcake. He activated its effect to banish Anjelly from his Graveyard and Special Summon Madolche Messengelato from his Deck in Attack Position. He activated his Messengelato’s effect to add Madolche Chateau from his Deck to his hand and then activated his Chateau to increase the ATK of his monsters. He attacked directly with Hootcake and Messengelato, dropping Bird down to 3900 Life Points.

Bird drew Black Horn of Heaven and then activated Pot of Dichotomy! He shuffled Maxx “C”, Fire Hand, and Ice Hand from his Graveyard back into his Deck to draw Maxx “C” and Fire Hand from his Deck. He Set Fire Hand and Black Horn of Heaven before ending his turn.

Fruend attacked Bird’s face-down Fire Hand with Messengelato, and Bird activated his Hand’s effect to destroy Madolche Hootcake and Special Summon Ice Hand from his Deck. Fruend returned the Hootcake to his hand thanks to Madolche Chateau.

Bird drew Fiendish Chain next turn. He switched his Ice Hand into Attack Position and then attacked Messengelato. Fruend activated Maxx “C” on the attack declaration, and Bird destroyed Madolche Chateau and Special Summoned Fire Hand from his Deck in Attack Position. Fruend drew a card due to the effect of Maxx “C”. Bird Set Fiendish Chain before ending his turn.

Fruend Set a card to his back row and then Summoned Madolche Hootcake. He tried to activate its effect, but Bird flipped Fiendish Chain to negate it!

Bird drew Torrential Tribute next turn. Fire Hand attacked Messengelato, destroying both monsters in battle, and then Bird used his Fire Hand’s effect to destroy Hootcake and Special Summon Ice Hand from his Deck. Hootcake and Messengelato shuffled back into Fruend’s Deck. Fruend attacked directly with Ice Hand and then Set Torrential Tribute before ending his turn.

Fruend activated Pot of Duality, revealing Madolche Mewfeuille, Madolche Anjelly, and Madolche Messengelato from the top of his Deck. He added the Anjelly to his hand and shuffled the other 2 cards back into his Deck.

Bird drew Call of the Haunted next turn. He attacked with Ice Hand to drop Fruend down to 3600 Life Points and then Set Call of the Haunted before passing his turn.

Fruend drew Madolche Anjelly, Summoned it to the field, and then Tributed it to activate its effect. Bird Chained Maxx “C” from his hand, and when Fruend Special Summoned Madolche Hootcake from his Deck with Anjelly’s, Bird drew a card from his Deck. Next, Bird banished Madolche Anjelly from his Graveyard to activate Hootcake’s effect and Special Summon Madolche Messengelato from his Deck. Bird drew a card with Maxx “C” and then activated Torrential Tribute to clear the field! Hootcake and Messengelato shuffled back into Bird’s Deck.

Bird drew Artifact Ignition. He tried to Summon Traptrix Myrmeleo, and when Fruend flipped Solemn Warning and paid 2000 Life Points to try to negate its Summon, Bird flipped Wiretap to negate Solemn Warning and shuffle it into Fruend’s Deck. Fruend discarded Effect Veiler to negate Myrmeleo’s effect after it hit the field, but it was of no consequence; a direct attack from Myrmeleo wiped out the rest of Fruend’s Life Points!

Duel Two

Fruend started off Duel 2 by activating Madolche Ticket. He Summoned Madolche Mewfeuille next, and activated its effect to Special Summon Anjelly from his hand. He Tributed Anjelly to Special Summon Madolche Hootcake from his Deck and then used Hootcake’s effect to banish Anjelly from his Graveyard and Special Summon Messengelato from his Deck. He used Messengelato’s effect to add Madolche Chateau to his hand and then activated it. Next, he combined Hootcake with Mewfeuille to Xyz Summon Leviair the Sea Dragon, and detached an Xyz Material from Leviair to Special Summon Madolche Anjelly to his field. He combined Anjelly with Messengelato to Xyz Summon Madolche Queen Tiaramisu and then ended his turn.

Bird opened up Duel 2 with 2 copies of Black Horn of Heaven, Artifact Sanctum, Traptrix Myrmeleo, Double Cyclone, and Artifact Moralltach. He Summoned Myrmeleo, but lost out on its effect to Effect Veiler. Next, he Set all 5 of his Spell and Trap Cards to his back row and ended his turn.

In Fruend’s Standby Phase, Bird activated Double Cyclone. He destroyed his own face-down Moralltach and Bird’s Madolche Ticket. Then he Special Summoned Moralltach and used its effect to destroy Madolche Queen Tiaramisu. In Fruend’s Main Phase, Fruend Summoned Madolche Hootcake; but Bird flipped Artifact Sanctum to Special Summon Artifact Moralltach from his Deck and activated his new Moralltach’s effect to destroy Hootcake. Hootcake returned to Fruend’s hand due to the effect of Madolche Chateau. Fruend attacked and destroyed Myrmeleo with Leviair and then Set a card to his back row. He tried to transform his Leviair the Sea Dragon into Downerd Magician next, but Bird flipped Black Horn of Heaven to negate its Summon!

Bird drew Maxx “C” next turn. He combined both of his Moralltachs to Xyz Summon Constellar Pleiades and then activated its effect to return Fruend’s back row to his hand. Next, he attacked directly with Pleiades, dropping Fruend down to 5500 Life Points.

Fruend activated Mystical Space Typhoon to destroy Bird’s face-down Black Horn of Heaven and then Set a card to his back row. He Summoned Madolche Magileine next, and activated Magileine’s effect to add Madolche Mewfeuille from his Deck to his hand.

Bird drew Artifact Ignition on his next turn! He activated it to destroy Fruend’s face-down Wiretap and then Set Artifact Moralltach from his Deck to his Spell & Trap Card Zone. Next, he attacked Magileine with Pleiades. Magileine returned to Fruend’s hand due to the effect of Chateau.

Fruend Set a card to his back row and then Summoned Madolche Mewfeuille. He activated its effect, and Bird Chained Maxx “C” from his hand! Fruend Special Summoned Hootcake to the field, and Bird drew Mind Control. Next, Fruend activated his Hootcake’s effect to banish Anjelly from his Graveyard and Special Summon Messengelato from his Deck. Bird drew another card due to the effect of Maxx “C”. Fruend added Madolche Ticket from his Deck to his hand with Messengelato’s effect. He activated Madolche Ticket and then ended his turn. In his End Phase, Bird activated his Pleiades’s effect to return Fruend’s face-down back row card to his hand.

Bird Summoned Traptrix Myrmeleo next turn and activated its effect to add Bottomless Trap Hole from his Deck to his hand. He activated Mind Control next, taking control of Messengelato. He subsequently combined Messengelato with Myrmeleo to Xyz Summon Number 103: Ragnazero! He detached an Xyz Material from Ragnazero to destroy Madolche Hootcake, which was boosted by Madolche Chateau,and draw a card. Hootcake returned to Fruend’s hand due to Chateau’s effect, and Fruend added Madolche Magileine from his Deck to his hand with Madolche Ticket. Next, Constellar Pleiades attacked and destroyed Magileine. It returned to his hand due to the effect of Chateau. Ragnazero attacked directly next, dropping Fruend down to 1500 Life Points. Bird Set Bottomless Trap Hole, Artifact Ignition, and Fiendish Chain before ending his turn.

Fruend Summoned Madolche Mewfeuille and activated its effect; but Bird flipped Fiendish Chain to negate it! Fruend Set a card to his back row before ending his turn, and in his End Phase, Bird activated Ragnazero’s effect to destroy Mewfeuille and draw a card. Next, Bird activated Artifact Ignition to destroy Fruend’s newly Set Wiretap and Set Artifact Beagalltach from his Deck to his Spell & Trap Card Zone.

Bird drew D.D. Crow next turn and then attacked directly with Ragnazero to finish Fruend off!
