Dragon Duel Top 8 Feature Match: James Gilmore Versus Andrew Fruend
13-year-old James Gilmore from Anaheim, California is Dueling against 12-year-old Andrew Fruend from St. Louis, Missouri in this Dragon Duel Top 8 Feature Match! Gilmore is the last Evilswarm Duelist left in the Dragon Duels, and is looking to take his Deck to the very top. But Fruend won’t make that easy for him – Fruend is using a Madolche Deck that’s capable of some quick victories. Fruend activated Upstart Goblin to draw a card and give Gilmore 1000 Life Points. He Set 3 cards to his back row and then Summoned Madolche Magileine. He activated its effect to add Madolche Anjelly from his Deck to his hand and then ended his turn.
Gilmore opened up with Evilswarm Castor, Forbidden Dress, Bottomless Trap Hole, Mirror Force, Solemn Warning, and Vanity’s Emptiness. He Summoned Evilswarm Castor and then Set all 5 Spell & Trap Cards to his back row.
Fruend activated Trap Stun! Next, he flipped Book of Moon to put Magileine face-down and then Flip Summoned it. He activated its effect to add Madolche Mewfeuille from his Deck to his hand. Next, he Summoned Mewfeuille and activated its effect to Special Summon Anjelly from his hand. He Tributed Anjelly to Special Summon Madolche Hootcake from his Deck and then banished Anjelly from his Graveyard to Special Summon Madolche Messengelato from his Deck with Hootcake’s effect. He added Madolche Chateau from his Deck to his hand with Messengelato’s effect. Fruend combined Mewfeuille with Hootcake to Xyz Summon Leviair the Sea Dragon next, and detached an Xyz Material to Special Summon Anjelly back to his field. He combined Anjelly with Magileine next, in order to Xyz Summon Madolche Queen Tiaramisu! He detached an Xyz Material from Tiaramisu to activate its effect. He shuffled Mewfeuille and Magileineinto his Deckand shuffled Gilmore’s Castor and one of his back rows back into his Deck. Next, Fruend activated Madolche Chateau! Direct attacks from Madolche Queen Tiaramisu, Leviair the Sea Dragon, and Madolche Messengelato dropped Gilmore down to 2400 Life Points!
Gilmore drew Evilswarm Kerykeion next turn and Set it.
Fruend activated Mystical Space Typhoon to destroy Gilmore’s face-down Vanity’s Emptiness and then Summoned Madolche Messengelato. He combined his 2 Messengelatos to Xyz Summon Gagaga Cowboy in Defense Position; but Gilmore flipped Bottomless Trap Hole to banish the Cowboy. Next, Fruend activated the effect of Madolche Queen Tiaramisu to shuffle 2 more of Gilmore’s cards back into his Deck. Gilmore immediately conceded, realizing he was defeated.

Duel Two
Gilmore opened up Duel 2 with Kaiser Colosseum, Solemn Warning, Fiendish Chain, Mirror Force, Vanity’s Emptiness, and Evilswarm Heliotrope. He Summoned Heliotrope, activated Kaiser Colosseum, and then Set 4 cards to his back row.
Fruend activated Mystical Space Typhoon to destroy Kaiser Colosseum and then Set a card to his back row. He tried to Summon Madolche Magileine, but lost out to Gilmore’s Solemn Warning. Fruend shuffled Magileine back into his Deck and then ended his turn.
Gilmore attacked directly with Heliotrope and then Set a card to his back row.
Fruend Set a card to his back row and passed.
Gilmore drew Evilswarm Kerykeion. He Summoned it, but then lost his entire field to Torrential Tribute! Fruend discarded D.D. Crow next, banishing Kerykeion from Gilmore’s Graveyard.
Fruend activated Madolche Chateau and then Summoned Madolche Mewfeuille. He activated Mewfeuille’s effect, and when Gilmore flipped Fiendish Chain, Fruend Chained Wiretap to negate the Fiendish Chain and shuffle it back into Gilmore’s Deck. Fruend Special Summoned Hootcake from his hand with Mewfeuille’s effect, and then Gilmore flipped Vanity’s Emptiness. Fruend attacked with Hootcake, and then Gilmore flipped Mirror Force! Both of Fruend’s monsters returned to his hand thanks to Madolche Chateau.
Gilmore drew Vanity’s Emptiness and Set it.
Fruend Summoned Mewfeuille and Gilmore activated Vanity’s Emptiness. Next, Fruend activated Pot of Duality to add Bottomless Trap Hole from his Deck to his hand. Mewfeuille attacked directly, dropping Gilmore to 5000 Life Points. Fruend Set Bottomless Trap Hole before passing his turn.
Gilmore drew another Heliotrope next turn and Summoned it, but lost out to Bottomless Trap Hole.
Fruend Summoned Hootcake and then activated Pot of Duality, revealing Trap Stun and 2 copies of Madolche Anjelly from the top of his Deck. He added an Anjelly to his hand and shuffled the other 2 cards back into his Deck. Next, he attacked directly with Mewfeuille and Hootcake, dropping Gilmore down to 2000 Life Points.
Gilmore drew Rescue Rabbit next turn, but he didn’t have 2 more Normal Monsters left in his Deck to Summon with it, and he couldn’t Special Summon anything due to Vanity’s Emptiness! He was forced to Set it face-down and then end his turn.
Fruend Summoned Anjellyand then Hootcake attacked Gilmore’s face-down monster; but Gilmore flipped Fiendish Chain to stop the attack. Next, Anjelly attacked, destroying Gilmore’s face-down Rescue Rabbit and sending Vanity’s Emptiness to the Graveyard after it. Mewfeuille attacked directly next, dropping Gilmore down to 500 Life Points. Fruend Set a card to his back row before ending his turn.
Gilmore drew Mirror Force and Set it.
Fruend flipped Trap Stun on his next turn! Then, he Summoned Madolche Messengelato. Direct attacks from Mewfeuille, Hootcake, Anjelly, and Messengelato wiped out the last 500 of Gilmore’s Life Points!
