Round 3 Feature Match: Pasquale Crociata Versus Malik Jones
Illinois’s Malik Jones is Dueling against New York’s Pasquale Crociata in this Round 3 Feature Match! Both Duelists are currently 2-0 in the tournament with completely different strategies. Jones is using a fairly typical Geargia Deck that crushes opponents with his Machines and swarms the field with Geargiagear. Crociata, however, is using a Frog Deck featuring Des Frog, Infernal Reckless Summon, Des Croaking, T.A.D.P.O.L.E., and a bunch of small Frog Monsters. Both Duelists’ Decks are capable of wiping out all of an opponent’s Life Points in a single turn, so this could be a quick Match. It’s time to Duel!
Duel One
Jones Summoned Geargiarsenal and Tributed it to Special Summon Geargiarmor from his Deck in Defense Position. He activated Upstart Goblin next to draw a card and give Crociata 1000 Life Points. He activated another Upstart Goblin next, drawing another card and giving Crociata another 1000 Life Points. Jones Set a monster and 3 back rows before passing.
Crociata opened up with Breakthrough Skill, Des Frog, Mother Grizzly, Des Frog, and 2 copies of Flip Flop Frog. He Set Mother Grizzly and Breakthrough Skill before ending his turn.
Jones activated a third Upstart Goblin to give Crociata another 1000 Life Points and draw a card. He Flip Summoned Geargiarmor next, activating its effect to add Geargiaccelerator from his Deck to his hand. He Summoned Geargiano Mk-II and activated its effect to try to Special Summon Geargiarsenal from his Graveyard. Crociata flipped Breakthrough Skill to try to negate its effect; but Jones flipped Wiretap to negate Breakthrough Skill and shuffle it into Crociata’s Deck! Next, Jones Tributed Geargiarsenal to Special Summon Geargiano from his Graveyard and combined it with Geargiano Mk-II to Xyz Summon Ghostrick Alucard. He detached an Xyz Material to destroy Crociata’s face-down Mother Grizzly and then Special Summoned Geargiaccelerator. He combined Geargiaccelerator with Geargiarmor to Xyz Summon Gear Gigant X and then detached an Xyz Material from Gear Gigant X to add a Geargiaccelerator from his Graveyard to his hand. He attacked directly with Ghostrick Alucard and Gear Gigant X before ending his turn.
Crociata Set Breakthrough Skill and Flip Flop Frog.
Jones activated the effect of Alucard to destroy Crociata’s face-down Breakthrough Skill, and Crociata Chained it to negate the effect of Gear Gigant X; next he activated Mind Control to take control of Crociata’s face-down Flip Flop Frog. He Flip Summoned it and then attacked directly with Alucard and Gear Gigant X. He ended his turn, returning Flip Flop Frog to Crociata.
Crociata drew Inferno Reckless Summon next turn and Summoned Flip Flop Frog. He flipped his other Frog face-down with its effect and then Flip Summoned it to return both of Jones’s Xyz Monsters to his Extra Deck. Jones Special Summoned Geargiano Mk-II from his Graveyard in Defense Position with the effect of Gear Gigant X. Next, Crociata combined both Flip Flop Frogs to Xyz Summon Ghostrick Socuteboss. He activated its effect, but lost out to Jones’s Traptrix Trap Hole Nightmare. Crociata immediately conceded, disappointed with his Duel 1 draws.

Duel Two
Crociata opened up Duel 2 with Trap Stun, Des Frog, Dupe Frog, T.A.D.P.O.L.E., and 2 copies of Dust Tornado. He Set Dupe Frog face-down and then Set Trap Stun and both copies of Dust Tornado.
Jones Summoned Geargiarsenal and Tributed it to Special Summon Geargiano from his Deck. He Tributed Geargiano to Special Summon Geargiarsenal from his Graveyard and then Special Summoned Geargiaccelerator from his hand. Next, he combined Geargiarsenal with Geargiaccelerator to Xyz Summon Evilswarm Exciton Knight and activated its effect to clear the field! Crociata’s Dupe Frog, Trap Stun, and 2 Dust Tornados were destroyed! Crociata added Swap Frog from his Deck to his hand with Dupe Frog’s effect. Next, Jones Set 3 cards to his back row and ended his turn.
Crociata drew Mystical Space Typhoon and then Summoned Swap Frog. He activated its effect to send Ronintoadin from his Deck to his Graveyard and then activated Swap Frog’s effect to return his Swap Frog to his hand. He discarded T.A.D.P.O.L.E. to Special Summon Swap Frog from his hand and then activated Swap Frog’s effect to send Ronintoadin from his Deck to his Graveyard. He activated Mystical Space Typhoon next, destroying Jones’s face-down Debunk, and then banished Dupe Frog from his Graveyard to try to Special Summon Ronintoadin from his Graveyard; but Jones flipped another Debunk to banish the Ronintoadin! Next, Crociata returned the Swap Frog from his field to his hand. Jones activated Geargiagear in Crociata’s End Phase to Special Summon 2 copies of Geargiano Mk-II from his Deck in Defense Position.
Jones combined both copies of Geargiano Mk-II to Xyz Summon Gear Gigant X and then detached an Xyz Material from it to add Geargiarsenal from his Deck to his hand. He Summoned Geargiarsenal and then attacked directly with Geargiarsenal, Gear Gigant X, and Evilswarm Exciton Knight. Crociata dropped down to 2100 Life Points. In Main Phase 2, Jones Tributed Geargiarsenal to Special Summon Geargiarmor from his Deck and activated its effect to flip it face-down. Jones Set a back row before passing.
Crociata drew Breakthrough Skill and then Normal Summoned Swap Frog. He activated its effect to send Flip Flop Frog from his Deck to his Graveyard and then banished Flip Flop Frog from his Graveyard to Special Summon Ronintoadin in Defense Position. He activated Swap Frog’s effect to return it to his hand and gain an additional Normal Summon for a Frog monster, and then Tributed Ronintoadin to Summon Des Frog; but Jones flipped Fiendish Chain to negate its effect and Crociata conceded!
