Round 4 Feature Match: Jeff Jones Versus Joshua Coones

July 12th, 2014

Jeff Jones is here today with a Koa’ki Meiru Deck that he hopes to pilot to the finals. Not a commonly seen Deck, the Koa’ki Meiru Deck has picked up some steam since the release of Primal Origin. Matched up against Joshua Coones and his Lightsworn Deck, does Jones have what it takes to keep his x1 record?

Duel 1

Jones started with Diamond Core of Koa’ki Meiru, Black Horn of Heaven, Koa’ki Meiru Crusader, Iron Core of Koa’ki Meiru, Solemn Warning, and Soul Charge. He played Diamond Core to get Koa’ki Meiru Urnight. That let him reveal Iron Core, bringing a Crusader from his Deck to the field. He stacked his Koa’ki Meirus for Brotherhood of the Fire Fist – Tiger King, getting Fire Formation – Tenki. That gave him another Urnight, and he Set his Solemn Warning and Black Horn of Heaven.

Coones led with Upstart Goblin, then Solar Recharge, discarding Raiden, Hand of the Lightsworn. He lost Charge of the Light Brigade off the top of his Deck, unfortunately. He used another Upstart Goblin, then played Lumina, Lightsworn Summoner . He discarded Blaster, Dragon Ruler of Infernos, and Jones flipped Solemn Warning.

Coones

Jones drew his third Urnight! He used it to bring out another Crusader, then Xyz Summoned a new Tiger King. That gave him Fire Formation – Tensu, and he Normal Summoned the third Urnight! He Special Summoned Koa’ki Meiru Ice, and crushed all of Coones’s Life Points!

Jones takes a commanding victory! Coones just didn’t get anything going in his first turn, and it was all over from there!

Duel 2

Coones started with Raiden, Hand of the Lightsworn, sending Minervax and Charge of the Light Brigade to the Graveyard. Minerva then sent Blaster, Dragon Ruler of Infernos as well. In the End Phase, Raiden also sent Judgment Dragon and Lightray Diabolos.

Jones had Koa’ki Meiru Ice, Koa’ki Meiru Crusader, Maxx “C”, Solemn Warning, Deep Dark Trap Hole, and Koa’ki Meiru Urnight. He played Urnight and destroyed Raiden in battle. Jones Set his Trap Cards, then revealed Crusader to keep Urnight on the field.

Jones

Coones had Lumina, Lightsworn Summoner , and discarded Lyla, Lightsworn Sorceress to revive Raiden. Jones Chained Maxx “C”, and drew Tensu. Raiden’s effect sent Upstart Goblin and Soul Charge to the Graveyard. He Synchro Summoned Black Rose Dragon, and Jones negated its Summon with Solemn Warning.

Jones drew Koa’ki Meiru Drago. He pondered his options, and finally went with Koa’ki Meiru Ice. Ice and Urnight attacked directly, then Jones Xyz Summoned Number 80: Rhapsody in Berserk in Defense Position! It banished Blaster and Minerva from Coones’s Graveyard.

Coones used Solar Recharge, discarding Lumina, then putting Book of Moon and Kuribandit in the Graveyard. Soul Charge came next, reviving Lyla and Lumina, and Coones dropped to 2000 Life Points. Lyla destroyed Deep Dark Trap Hole, then Lumina discarded Solar Recharge to revive Raiden. Raiden sent Forbidden Lance and Tempest, Dragon Ruler of Storms! He stacked Raiden and Lyla for Lavalval Chain, and it put Eclipse Wyvern in the Graveyard, which in turn banished Judgment Dragon. Coones couldn’t attack, due to Soul Charge, so he passed.

Heartlandraco in Berserk!

Jones drew Koa’ki Meiru Crusader! He played Tensu, then both of his Crusaders. He Xyz Summoned Number 82: Heartlandraco and equipped Number 80: Rhapsody in Berserk to it! Heartlandraco attacked through Coones’s monsters, ending this Match!

Jeff Jones is the winner, thanks to Koa’ki Meiru!
