Alejandro Reyes is from Mexico City is Dueling against local Duelist Jose Barajas in this Round 9 Feature Match! Alejandro Reyes and Jose Barajas are both 7-1 in the tournament, so a victory here will guarantee one of these Duelists a spot in the Top 32! Will Alejandro Reyes secure a Top 32 spot with his Mythic Dragon Ruler Deck, or will Jose Barajas make it there with his Lightsworn Deck? It’s time to Duel!

Duel One

Reyes opened up Duel 1 with Flamvell Guard, Mythic Water Dragon, Redox, Dragon Ruler of Boulders, Fire Hand¸ Effect Veiler,and Mythic Tree Dragon. He Summoned Mythic Tree Dragon and then Special Summoned Mythic Water Dragon. Next, he increased his Tree Dragon’s Level to 8 and combined his 2 Dragons to Xyz Summon Divine Dragon Knight Felgrand!

Alejandro Reyes

Barajas activated Charge of the Light Brigade by sending Judgment Dragon, Lumina, Lightsworn Summoner, and Eclipse Wyvern from the top of his Deck to his Graveyard, and added Lumina from his Deck to his hand with its effect. Next, he banished Judgment Dragon from his Deck with the effect of Eclipse Wyvern. He activated Solar Recharge next, discarding Raiden, Hand of the Lightsworn to draw 2 cards and send Lightray Diabolos and Kuribandit from the top of his Deck to his Graveyard. Next, he Summoned Lumina. He discarded Eclipse Wyvern to try to activate its effect; but Reyes negated Lumina’s effect by detaching an Xyz Material from Felgrand. Barajas banished another Judgment Dragon from his Deck with the effect of Eclipse Wyvern and then Set 2 cards to his back row.

Reyes drew another Fire Hand next turn. He entered his Battle Phase, and Barajas flipped Beckoning Light, Chaining Needlebug Nest. He sent Necro Gardna, Needlebug Nest, Wulf, Lightsworn Beast, Foolish Burial, and Eclipse Wyvern to his Graveyard with Needlebug Nest, and then discarded Necro Gardna and Garoth, Lightsworn Warrior from his hand with Beckoning Light to add Judgment Dragon and Lightray Diabolos from his Graveyard to his hand. He Special Summoned Wulf from his Graveyard, since it was sent there from his Deck by Needlebug Nest. Reyes’s Felgrand attacked Lumina, and Barajas banished Necro Gardna from his Graveyard to negate the attack. Reyes Summoned Fire Hand in Main Phase 2 and then ended his turn.

Barajas activated the effect of Lumina, Lightsworn Summoner by discarding Lyla, Lightsworn Sorceress, attempting to Special Summon Raiden from his Graveyard; but Reyes detached an Xyz Material from Felgrand to negate Lumina’s effect and make it unaffected by other cards. Next, Barajas Special Summoned Judgment Dragon. He paid 1000 Life Points to destroy all other cards on the field, but Lumina survived since Felgrand’s effect targeted her earlier in the turn! Fire Hand destroyed Judgment Dragon with its effect, and Barajas Special Summoned Ice Hand from his Deck. Barajas Special Summoned Diabolos next, and attacked Ice Hand to destroy it. Lumina attacked directly, dropping Reyes down to 7000 Life Points.

Reyes banished Mythic Water Dragon and Mythic Tree Dragon from his Graveyard to Special Summon Redox, Dragon Ruler of Boulders and then Normal Summoned Fire Hand. He attacked Lumina with Redox, and Barajas blocked the attack by banishing Necro Gardna from his Graveyard. Next, Fire Hand attacked Diabolos. Fire Hand was destroyed by battle, and destroyed Diabolos with its effect. Next, Reyes Special Summoned Ice Hand from his Deck, and used it to attack and destroy Lumina. Reyes banished 2 Fire Hands from his Graveyard to Special Summon Blaster, Dragon Ruler of Infernos and then combined Blaster with Redox to Xyz Summon Mecha Phantom Beast Dracossack in Defense Position. He detached an Xyz Material from it to Special Summon 2 Mecha Phantom Beast Tokens in Defense Mode and then ended his turn.

With no cards left in his hand or on his field, Barajas drew Soul Charge! He gave up 4000 Life Points to Special Summon Lyla, Wulf, Garoth, and Raiden from his Graveyard in Attack Position. He activated Raiden’s effect to send the top 2 cards from his Deck to his Graveyard, and then used Garoth’s effect to send Kuribandit and Honest from the top of his Deck to his Graveyard. He combined Lyla with Wulf to Xyz Summon Number 101: Silent Honor ARK and then detached both Xyz Materials from Number 101: Silent Honor ARK to try to attach Ice Hand to his Number 101: Silent Honor ARK as an Xyz Material. Next, he combined Raiden with Garoth to Xyz Summon Lavalval Chain in Defense Position. He detached an Xyz Material to activate its effect, and Reyes discarded Effect Veiler to negate it.

Reyes drew Torrential Tribute next turn. He Summoned Flamvell Guard and Tuned it with 2 of his Mecha Phantom Beast Tokens to Synchro Summon Black Rose Dragon. Next, he detached an Xyz Material from Dracossack to Special Summon 2 Mecha Phantom beast Tokens to the field. He banished Flamvell Guard and Blaster from his Graveyard next, in order to Special Summon Redox to his field, and used Blaster’s effect to add a Flamvell Guard to his hand.  He attacked Number 101: Silent Honor ARK with both Dracossack and Black Rose Dragon to finally destroy it, and then Redox attacked and destroyed Lavalval Chain. Next, Reyes combined Black Rose Dragon with Redox to Xyz Summon Mecha Phantom Beast Dracossack.

Jose Barajas drew another Soul Charge next turn and conceded, without enough Life Points to put it to good use.

Alejandro Reyes takes a dominating victory in Duel 1 with 2 copies of Mecha Phantom Beast Dracossack! Jose Barajas will be going first in Duel 2!

Duel Two

Barajas Set a card to his back row and Summoned Raiden. He activated its effect, but lost out to Effect Veiler.

Reyes activated Gold Sarcophagus, banishing Tidal, Dragon Ruler of Waterfalls from his Deck. He activated Tidal’s effect to add Mythic Water Dragon to his hand. Next, he Summoned Mythic Tree Dragon. He Special Summoned Mythic Water Dragon in Defense Position next, and activated his Tree Dragon’s effect to try to copy his Water Dragon’s Level; but Barajas flipped Breakthrough Skill to negate the Tree Dragon’s effect.

Barajas Summoned Raiden next turn and activated its effect to send Wulf, Lightsworn Beast and Tempest, Dragon Ruler of Storms from the top of his Deck to his Graveyard. He Special Summoned Wulf and Tuned it with Raiden to Synchro Summon Crimson Blader. He Summoned Necro Gardna next, and Reyes discarded Effect Veiler to negate Crimson Blader’s effect. Necro Gardna attacked and destroyed the Tree Dragon, and then Crimson Blader attacked and destroyed the Water Dragon.

Reyes activated Soul Charge to Special Summon Water Dragon and Tree Dragon back from his Graveyard. He increased his Tree Dragon’s Level to 8, and then Xyz Summon Hieratic Sun Dragon Overlord of Heliopolis by combining his 2 Mythic Dragons. He detached an Xyz Material from it to Tribute the Blaster in his hand and destroy Crimson Blader.

Barajas activated Soul Charge next turn! He gave up 3000 Life Points to Special Summon Wulf, Raiden, and Crimson Blader in Attack Position. He activated Raiden’s effect to send Garoth and Solar Recharge from the top of his Deck to his Graveyard and then Tuned Raiden with Wulf to Synchro Summon Scrap Dragon.  He Set a card to his back row and then Summoned Necro Gardna to the field. He combined both copies of Necro Gardna to Xyz Summon Ghostrick Alucard and then used his Scrap Dragon’s effect to destroy his own Alucard along with Reyes’s Hieratic Sun Dragon Overlord of Heliopolis.

Reyes activated Soul Charge on his next turn! He paid 3000 Life Points to Special Summon Mythic Tree Dragon, Mythic Water Dragon, and Blaster, Dragon Ruler of Infernos from his Graveyard. He increased his Tree Dragon’s Level to 8 and then combined both Dragons to Xyz Summon Felgrand. He activated Felgrand’s effect to have it target itself and then banished Hieratic Sun Dragon Overlord and Mythic Water Dragon from his Graveyard to Special Summon Tidal from his hand. He combined Tidal with Blaster to Xyz Summon Number 11: Big Eye next, and then detached an Xyz Material from Number 11: Big Eye to take control of Scrap Dragon. He targeted his own Felgrand and his opponent’s Crimson Blader with Scrap Dragon’s effect, but only the Crimson Blader was destroyed, since Felgrand was unaffected by Scrap Dragon’s effect.

Barajas Summoned Lumina, Lightsworn Summoner and then activated its effect by discarding Necro Gardna; but Reyes detached an Xyz Material from Felgrand to negate Lumina’s effect! Next, Lumina attacked Big Eye, and Barajas lost 1600 Life Points and his Lumina was destroyed. Barajas Summoned Judgment Dragon in Main Phase 2, paid 1000 Life Points to destroy all cards on the field, and sent the top 4 cards of his Deck to his Graveyard with Judgment Dragon’s effect in his End Phase.

Reyes drew and activated Dragon Shrine next turn! He sent Flamvell Guard and Tempest, Dragon Ruler of Storms from his Deck to his Graveyard and then banished Tempest and Tidal from his Graveyard to Special Summon Blaster. He added Debris Dragon and Mythic Water Dragon from his Deck to his hand with the effects of his banished Dragon Rulers and then Summoned Debris Dragon in Attack Position. He activated Debris Dragon’s effect to Special Summon Effect Veiler from his Graveyard and then Tuned Effect Veiler with Blaster to Synchro Summon Scrap Dragon. He destroyed Debris Dragon and Judgment Dragon with Scrap Dragon’s effect. Then, he Special Summoned Mythic Water Dragon and attacked with both of his monsters, but had both of his attacks negated by two Necro Gardnas.

Barajas banished 2 copies of Eclipse Wyvern from his Graveyard to Special Summon Tempest from his Graveyard, and then used his Wyvern’s effect to add his banished Judgment Dragon to his hand. He Special Summoned Judgment Dragon, and then an attack from Judgment Dragon over Felgrand and a direct attack from Tempest finished Reyes off!

Duel Three

Reyes opened up Duel 3 with Burial from a Different Dimension, Mythic Water Dragon, Flamvell Guard, Effect Veiler, Torrential Tribute, and Mind Crush. He Set Torrential Tribute and Mind Crush and then ended his turn.

Barajas activated Solar Recharge, discarding Lyla to draw 2 cards and send 2 Traps from the top of his Deck to his Graveyard. He Summoned Lumina next, and activated its effect by discarding a card to Special Summon Lyla; but Reyes flipped Torrential Tribute to clear the field when Lyla was Summoned! In Main Phase 2, Barajas activated Soul Charge, Special Summoning Lumina, Lyla, and Garoth from his Graveyard. He activated Lyla’s effect to target Mind Crush for destruction, and Reyes Chained it, naming Judgment Dragon. Barajas revealed his hand without Judgment Dragon in it, and Reyes discarded Burial from a Different Dimension from his hand at random as a consequence. Barajas Set a card to his back before entering his End Phase and sending a bunch of cards, including an Eclipse Wyvern that banished a Judgment Dragon from the Deck, from his Deck to his Graveyard.

Reyes Set a card to each zone, and Barajas flipped Needlebug Nest to send the top 5 cards from his Deck to his Graveyard in his End Phase. One of the cards he sent to the Graveyard was Wulf, Lightsworn Beast, which he Special Summoned.

Barajas combined Garoth with Wulf to Xyz Summon Lavalval Chain. He detached an Xyz Material from it to activate its effect; but Reyes discarded Effect Veiler to negate its effect. Next, Barajas activated Foolish Burial, sending another Eclipse Wyvern from his Deck to his Graveyard. He activated its effect to banish Judgment Dragon from his Deck and then discarded Maxx “C” to activate Lumina’s effect and Special Summon Raiden from his Graveyard. Reyes banished Raiden with Bottomless Trap Hole. Barajas banished 2 copies of Eclipse Wyvern from his Graveyard to Special Summon Tempest from his Graveyard, and then used the effects of his Wyverns to add 2 Judgment Dragons to his hand. He attacked and destroyed Flamvell Guard with Tempest, and then attacked directly with Lumina and Lavalval Chain.

Reyes drew a Mythic Water Dragon to add to the one he already had in his hand and conceded, unable to make any fruitful plays.
