Both Juan Moroyoqui and Enrique Miranda are undefeated thus far and have been pitted against each other this round. Moroyoqui has chosen to use an interesting variant of Shaddoll utilizing the powerful synergies of Kuribandit to fill his Graveyard fast and close out games with Sephylon, the Ultimate Timelord. His opponent is playing another pillar of the current Advanced Constructed Format: Satellarknight. Who will be victorious?

 

Moroyoqui rolls a 10 to Miranda’s 5, and chooses to go first.

Duel One

 

 

Moroyoqui started with a hand of Kuribandit, Sinister Shadow Games, Vanity’s Emptiness, Shaddoll Squamata, and Shaddoll Dragon. He immediately Summoned Kuribandit, Set both of his Trap Cards to his back row, and moved to End Phase to activate Kuribandit’s effect.  Moroyoqui excavated Mystical Space Typhoon,Allure of Darkness, Vanity’s Emptiness, Sinister Shadow Games, and Sephylon, the Ultimate Timelord. After a bit of consideration, he chose to add Allure to his hand and shook his head at the unimpressive mill.

 

Miranda activated Reinforcement of the Army to grab Satellarknight Vega, and then followed it up with Upstart Goblin. He Summoned the Vega and attempted to activate the effect, but Moroyoqui had Vanity’s Emptiness to slow things down and stop Vega. Not impressed, Miranda attacked directly with Vega and then Set 4 cards before ending his turn.

 

Moroyoqui drew Shaddoll Beast and moved to Main Phase to Normal Summon his Shaddoll Dragon. He tried to attack over Satellarknight Vega but Miranda had Dimensional Prison to deal with the 1900 ATK threat. Moroyoqui lifted his Sinister Shadow Games and weighed his options, but ultimately chose to just pass things back to Miranda.

 

Miranda Summoned Satellarknight Deneb and attempted to activate its effect, Moroyoqui had no response and Miranda added Satellarknight Altair to his hand. Miranda entered Battle Phase and attacked with Satellarknight Vega and Deneb in succession putting Moroyoqui down to 5100 Life Points, then ends his turn.

 

 

Moroyoqui drew Effect Veiler, and took a while to consider his lines of play. He tried to Normal Summon Shaddoll Squamatabut Miranda responded with Solemn Warning. Moroyoqui triggered Squamata’s effect and sent Shaddoll Beastto draw him a Kuribandit, also destroying his own Vanity’s Emptiness in the process. Next, he activated Allure of Darknessdrawing into Mystical Space Typhoonas well as Sinister Shadow Games, and banished Kuribandit from his hand. Moroyoqui wasn’t done yet though, he flipped his set Sinister Shadow Games to send Shaddoll Falco. When he attempted to use Falco’s effect, Miranda had Vanity’s Emptiness to try to stop it, but Moroyoqui had Mystical Space Typhoon to stop the Emptiness. Moroyoqui set another copy of Shadow Games and passed with Shaddoll Beast and Effect Veiler remaining in his hand.

 

Miranda drew for his turn and thought, then went to his Extra Deck to Xyz Summon Abyss Dweller by overlaying Satellarknight Vegaand Satellarknight Deneb. He activated Dweller’s effect detaching Deneb, and then Summoned Satellarknight Altair to try to Special Summon the Deneb but got stopped by Moroyoqui’s Effect Veiler. Without missing a beat, Miranda slammed Soul Charge! The Soul Charge revived the Deneb but he had to pay himself down to 5000 Life Points to do so. Deneb searched for another copy of Altair, and then he overlayed the Altair and Deneb for Diamond Dire Wolf. In response to the Summon of Diamond Dire Wolf, Moroyoqui activated Sinister Shadow Games to send Shaddoll Hedgehog and and flip his set Shaddoll Falco. Although Hedgehog’s effect was stopped by Dweller, Moroyoqui had accomplished flipping his Falco to try to use its effect. It was all for not though, Miranda shut him down with Breakthrough Skilland then blew away the Falco with Diamond Dire Wolf’s effect.

 

Moroyoqui drew Mystical Space Typhoon for turn and without much else to do, set it and passed.

 

Miranda Summoned Satellarknight Altair and Special Summoned Satellarknight Deneb, Deneb searched Altair, and then Miranda used Upstart Goblin. After an attack with Altair Moroyoqui was put down to 4400. In Main Phase 2, Miranda overlayed Altair and Deneb to Xyz Summon Constellar Omega.

 

Moroyoqui drew Mathematician. Moroyoqui Summoned Mathematician and activated its effect, but Miranda responded with Abyss Dweller’s effect to guarantee that Moroyoqui wouldn’t be able to get too much value off of the Mathematician. Moroyoqui opted to send Kuribandit because of the Dweller’s effect, and then passed the turn.

 

Miranda drew for turn to 3 cards in hand. Normal Summoned Satellarknight Vega and activated its effect to Special Summon Satellarknight Altair from his hand, Altair brought back another copy of Vega. The Satellarknights overlayed for Stellarknight Delteros! Delteros destroyed the Mathematician via its effect to stop Moroyoqui from being able to draw, and then swung in to put Moroyoqui down to 1900 Life Points.

 

 

Moroyoqui drew Shaddoll Core for turn, left with only a Shaddoll Beastin his hand and a Set Mystical Space Typhoon. He thought for a moment, but ultimately conceded seeing that he could not manage to come back from Miranda’s impressive board.

 

Miranda takes the first Duel over Moroyoqui, but with the help of his Side Deck Moroyoqui hopes to gain an edge in the following Duels.

 

Duel Two

Moroyoqui chose to start, and opened with a hand of Shaddoll Fusion, Shaddoll Squamata, Royal Decree, and 2 copies of Shaddoll Hedgehog. Without much hesitation, Moroyoqui activated Shaddoll Fusion using Squamata and a Hedghehog as materials to Fusion Summon El Shaddoll Winda. Squamata sent Shaddoll Beast and Hedgehog searched Shaddoll Falco. Moroyoqui drew a Squamata off of Beast’s effect. He Set the Falco along with Royal Decree, passing his turn.

 

Miranda Summoned Satellarknight Deneb to search Satellarknight Vega from his Deck. Then declared an attack with Deneb on the set monster, flipping Shaddoll Falco and allowing Moroyoqui to Special Summon Shaddoll Beastface-down. He proceeded to Main Phase 2 and Set 4 cards to his back row, but Moroyoqui flipped Royal Decree during the end phase!

 

Moroyoqui drew Shaddoll Falco for turn. He Flip Summoned Shaddoll Beast drawing Lyla, Lightsworn Sorceress and Vanity’s Emptiness, discarding Shaddoll Squamata. Squamata sent Shaddoll Dragon with its effect, and Shaddoll Dragon blew away Miranda’s set Dimensional Prison. Next Moroyoqui Summoned Lyla and declared an attack with El Shaddoll Winda over Satellarknight Deneb, then two direct attacks with Lyla and Shaddoll Beast to put Miranda down to 3400 Life Points. Moroyoqui then moved to Main Phase 2 and used Lyla to destroy a set Call of the Haunted, set Emptiness, and ended his turn. He milled two copies of Mathematicianalong with a Shaddoll Fusion during his End Phase.

 

Miranda Summoned Satellarknight Altair and used its effect to Special Summon Satellarknight Deneb, the Deneb let him grab another copy of Altair from his Deck. Altair attacked over Lyla, Lightsworn Sorceress and Miranda Set an additional back row to end his turn.

 

Moroyoqui drew And the Band PlayedOn! Far ahead on the field, he opted to simply attack over Satellarknight Altair with El Shaddoll Winda and Satellarknight Deneb with Shaddoll Beast. He Set Shaddoll Hedgehog along with And the Band Played On, then ended his turn.

 

Drawing slim, Miranda looked at his hand and realized he couldn’t do anything to the lock that Moroyoqui had assembled with Royal Decree and El Shaddoll Winda, so he just conceded.

 

On the back of Royal Decree, Moroyoqui takes a decisive win over Miranda in the second Duel.

 

Miranda chooses to go first in the last Duel.

 

Duel Three

 

Miranda Summoned Satellarknight Altairand Set 4 to his back row before ending his first turn.

 

Moroyoqui looked at his hand of Royal Decree, And the Band Played On, Shaddoll Hedgehog, Shaddoll Beast, Mathematician, and his freshly drawn Effect Veiler. Moroyoqui Summoned Mathematician and attempted to activate its effect, but Miranda had Shadow-Imprisoning Mirror to shut off any potential Shaddoll shenanigans. Moroyoqui opted to send Shaddoll Falco, then set a copy of Royal Decree as well as And the Band Played On to end his turn.

 

Miranda drew and immediately attacked with Satellarknight Altairover Mathematician, letting Moroyoqui draw a Foolish Burialoff of Mathematician’s effect. Miranda set a 5th card to his back row, but Moroyoqui had Royal Decree once again! Miranda’s facial expression suddenly filled with dismay as Moroyoqui

 

Drawing Shaddoll Dragon for turn, Moroyoqui considered his possible plays. He normal Summoned the Shaddoll Dragon and declared an attack on Satellarknight Altair, but Miranda had Forbidden Lance during the Damage Step to allow Altair to survive and destroy the Shaddoll Dragon. Moroyoqui went down to 7200 Life Points. In Main Phase 2, Moroyoqui activated Foolish Burial, sending Shaddoll Squamata and having Squamata send Shaddoll Falco to the Graveyard as well. Falco Special Summoned itself face-down, and Moroyoqui ended.

 

 

Miranda drew to a single card in hand and inspected Moroyoqui’s Graveyard. He declared an attack with Satellarknight Altair on the set Shaddoll Falco. Falco flipped and Special Summoned Shaddoll Squamataface down, and Miranda passed it back.

 

Moroyoqui drew Lyla, Lightsworn Sorceress for turn, and then Flip Summoned Shaddoll Squamataand used its effect to destroy Satellarknight Altair.  He normal Summoned Lyla, and declared an attack with it as well as Squamata to put Miranda down to 4500. In Main Phase 2, Moroyoqui used Lyla to destroy the face-up Shadow-Imprisoning Mirror, and in the End Phase milled Shaddoll Beast, Effect Veiler, and Mystical Space Typhoon. He drew another copy of Mystical Space Typhoonoff of Beast’s effect.

 

After checking what he drew, Miranda immediately extended his hand and conceded!

 

 

Royal Decree completely took over both of the Side Decked Duels, and Juan Moroyoqui takes a 2-1 victory over Enrique Miranda to move on with a flawless 4-0 record!
