With Coach Soldier Wolfbark making its way off of the Forbidden & Limited List, both Fire King and Fire Fist is looking to get a lot better. Brendan Perry thought exactly that and brought Fire King Artifact to Duel with this weekend. He is currently sitting at a 5-1 record, and is looking pretty good at this point in the tournament. His opponent is Monny Weatherly-Locascio, playing a Satellarknight strategy teched with Main Deck Mind Crush. Will this pay off for him or will an access to a full playset of Coach Soldier Wolfbark put Perry’s deck over the top?

 

Perry roles a 5 to Weatherly’s 6, so Weatherly chooses to go first.

Duel One

 

Weatherly activated Reinforcement of the Army to grab Satellarknight Deneb, then summoned Deneb to search for Satellarknight Altair. He activated Upstart Goblin after he thinned his Deck, and then Set 4 back row before passing.

 

 

Perry opened with a hand consisting of: Brotherhood of the Fire Fist – Gorilla, Brotherhood of the Fire Fist – Bear, Forbidden Lance, Fiendish Chain, Artifact Sanctum, and drew Mystical Space Typhoon for turn. He thought for a moment, and then Set all 4 of his spells and traps and ended his turn.

 

Weatherly drew and then went to Battle Phase, declaring attack with Satellarknight Deneb for 1500 putting Perry down to 7500 Life Points.

 

Perry drew another copy of Mystical Space Typhoon for turn. He Normal Summoned Brotherhood of the Fire Fist – Bear and Weatherly announced that he didn’t have a response to the Summon. However, when Perry tried to declare an attack with Bear, Locascio had Dimensional Prison. Perry Set the Mystical Space Typhoon and ended.

 

Weatherly drew for turn, and then Normal Summoned Satellarknight Unukalhai and activated its effect. Perry responded with Artifact Sanctum, but Weatherly Chained Vanity’s Emptiness,  and Perry had Mystical Space Typhoon to force Sanctum through! Sanctum brought out Artifact Moralltach, andUnukalhai resolved sending Satellarknight Deneb. In a new Chain, Moralltach destroyed Unukalhai. Weatherly tried to pass his turn after the dust settled but End Phase Perry used another Mystical Space Typhoon targeting one of the set back row, Weatherly responded with the Set card: Stellarnova Alpha. Alpha negated the Mystical Space Typhoon and Weatherly drew a card, but had to send his Deneb to the Graveyard to do so.

 

Perry drew another copy of Fiendish Chain for his turn. He considered his options, and then declared an attack with Artifact Moralltach. Weatherly tried to banish it with Dimensional Prison but lost out to Forbidden Lance! Weatherly was left with 6700 Life Points. In Main Phase 2, Perry Set the Fiendish Chain and then ended.

 

Weatherly drew and immediately played his freshly drawn Reinforcement of the Army to add Satellarknight Vega to his hand. Perry gave Vega a quick read, and then Weatherly Normal Summoned Vega and attempted to activate its effect, but Perry negated it with Fiendish Chain. Weatherly Set a card to his back row and passed.

 

Perry drew Solemn Warning for turn, summoned Brotherhood of the Fire Fist – Gorilla, and used it to run over Weatherly’s Satellarknight Vega. He Set a Fire Formation – Tenki from his Deck with Gorilla’s effect, and then declared an attack with Artifact Moralltach to put Weatherly at 4200 Life Points. In Main Phase 2, Perry activated the freshly Set Fire Formation – Tenki to add Brotherhood of the Fire Fist – Bear to his hand. He then sent the Fire Formation to destroy Weatherly’s Set Stellarnova Alpha. Perry Set the Solemn Warning he drew and ended.

 

Weatherly drew and Normal Summoned Satellarknight Altair, but lost out to Solemn Warning! He had Raigeki to clear away Perry’s Brotherhood of the Fire Fist – Gorilla and Artifact Moralltach. He set a card to his back row before ending.

 

Perry drew Artifact Moralltach, summoned Brotherhood of the Fire Fist – Bear and attacked but Weatherly had Dimensional Prisonto banish the Bear and force Perry to end his turn.

 

Weatherly drew a card and Set it to his back row.

 

Perry top decked Coach Soldier Wolfbark! He Summoned it and used its effect to bring back Brotherhood of the Fire Fist – Gorilla. Once Gorilla hit play, Weatherly used Call of the Haunted to bring back Satellarknight Altair and attempted to activate its effect but got Fiendish Chained. Perry then continued on by overlaying his 2 monsters for Brotherhood of the Fire Fist – Tiger King to set Fire Formation – Tenki. He then used the Tenki to add Fire King Avatar Yaksha to his hand. Tiger King ran over Altair and Weatherly went down to 3600 Life Points.

 

Weatherly drew his card and without any viable options immediately conceded.

 

With a commanding hold during the first Duel, Perry demonstrates the power of Coach Soldier Wolfbark. Both players went to their Side Decks to try to adjust their Decks accordingly.

 

Weatherly chose to go first for the second Duel.

 

Duel Two

 

Weatherly started things off with Satellarknight Deneb to search Satellarknight Altair. He Set 3 cards to back row and passed.

 

 

Perry’s hand consisted of Brotherhood of the Fire Fist – Bear, Mystical Space Typhoon, Night Beam, two copies of Fire Formation – Tenki, and drew Fire King High Avatar Garunix for turn. Perry activated Night Beam targeting a random Set card of his opponents and hit Mind Crush, then used Typhoon to destroy a Dimensional Prison. Next he activated Tenki to add Fire King Avatar Yaksha to his hand, normal Summoned Bear and attempted to declare an attack over Satellarknight Deneb. Weatherly sighed and opted to use Breakthrough Skill on the Bear when it declared the attack to stop it from retrieving an additional Fire Formation.

 

 

Weatherly entered Main Phase and Normal Summoned Satellarknight Altair to revive Satellarknight Deneb, and as usual, Deneb searched another copy of Altair. He verlayed both for Number 103: Ragnazero and used it to destroy Perry’s Brotherhood of the Fire Fist – Bear that was being pumped by a Fire Formation and draw a card. He Set two cards to his back row and passed.

 

Perry drew an additional copy of Fire King Avatar Yaksha, but before he could enter Main Phase Weatherly has another Mind Crush to get rid of both Yaksha. Perry activated Fire Formation – Tenki to find the third copy of Yaksha. He Normal Summoned it and declared an attack with Yaksha, but Weatherly used Number 103: Ragnazero’s effect to destroy it and draw another card. Perry used Yaksha to destroy his in hand Fire King High Avatar Garunix.

 

Weatherly drew for turn and during Standby Phase Perry activated his Fire King High Avatar Garunix to Special Summon itself. Weatherly had Breakthrough Skill. He Normal Summoned Satellarknight Vega to Special Summon Satellarknight Deneb from his hand and added a Satellarknight Altair to his hand from his Deck.  He overlayed both of them for Castel, the Skyblaster Musketeer and used Castel to shuffle back the Garunix. After direct attacks with Number 103: Ragnazero and Castel, Perry fell down to 3600 Life Points.

 

Perry drew Blaster, Dragon Ruler of Infernos for turn. He Special Summoned it by banishing two copies of Fire King Avatar Yaksha from his Graveyard and then declared an attack over Number 103: Ragnazero. He passed with no cards in hand after battle.

 

Weatherly drew for turn, but Perry realized he already had at least one copy of Satellarknight Altair in his hand so he conceded.

 

Both Duelists got a little tenser as they began shuffling, neither wanted to take their second loss just yet.

 

Both Duelists wished each other good luck; Perry chose to go first for the last Duel.

 

Duel Three

 

Perry opened with a hand of Circle of the Fire Kings, Coach Soldier Wolfbark, Fire King Avatar Yaksha, Blaster, Dragon Ruler of Infernos, and drew Wiretap. He Normal Summoned Yaksha, then Set Circle and Wiretap before he passed.

 

Weatherly activated Reinforcement of the Army to search his deck for Satellarknight Deneb. He proceed to Normal Summon the Deneb and added a Satellarknight Unukalhai to his hand, telegraphing that he must already have multiple copies of Satellarknight Altair. He then Set 3 cards to his back row and ended his turn.

 

Perry drew Fire King Avatar Barong for his turn and normal summoned it, then overlayed his two Fire Kings for Evilswarm Exciton Knight. He activated the effect of Exciton and the board got cleared. Weatherly lost Seven Tools of the Bandit, Vanity’s Emptiness, Compulsory Evacuation Device, and Satellarknight Deneb. Perry lost Circle of the Fire Kings and Wiretap. Without much else to do, Perry passed his turn.

 

 

Weatherly drew to 4 cards in hand. He Normal Summoned Satellarknight Vega and used its effect to Special Summon Satellarknight Unukalhai from his hand, then used the Unukalhai to send Satellarknight Deneb to his Graveyard. He overlayed both Satellarknights for Cairngorgon, Antiluminescent Knight and ran over the Evilswarm Exciton Knight before ending.

 

Perry drew Fiendish Chain for turn and then picked up the Cairngorgon, Antiluminescent Knight to read. He Normal Summoned Coach Soldier Wolfbark and used its effect to Special Summon Fire King Avatar Barong, from there he overlayed both monsters to Xyz Summon Brotherhood of the Fire Fist – Tiger King and used it to Set Fire Formation – Tenki. He flipped the Tenki to add Brotherhood of the Fire Fist – Bear to his hand, and then used Tiger King’s effect so he could get an additional FIRE to fuel his Blaster, Dragon Ruler of Infernos. He banished Yaksha and Wolfbark to special the Blaster and then ran over Cairngorgon with Blaster before he made a direct attack with Tiger King putting Weatherly down to 5350 Life Points. He Set another card to his back row, and ended his turn.

 

Weatherly Normal Summoned Satellarknight Altair and used its effect to Special Summon Satellarknight Deneb which got him another copy of Altair. Weatherly took a quick look at Perry’s Graveyard, and then overlayed his Satellarknights forNumber 103: Ragnazero. He used its effect to destroy Brotherhood of the Fire Fist – Tiger King and draw a card. He ended his turn and Blaster, Dragon Ruler of Infernos returned to Perry’s hand.

 

Perry drew Fire King Avatar Yaksha for turn and discarded it for Blaster, Dragon Ruler of Infernos’ effect to destroy Number 103: Ragnazero.  Brotherhood of the Fire Fist – Bear attacked into Dimensional Prison, Perry had Wiretap to fight over it, but Weatherly had an unexpected Seven Tools of the Bandit! Perry was left with no cards except a face-up Fire Formation – Tenki.

 

Weatherly drew to 3 Cards and Summoned Satellarknight Altair to Special Summon Satellarknight Deneb, Deneb got another Altair. After an attack with Altair Perry fell tp 4750 Life Points. In Main Phase 2, Weatherly Xyz Summoned Number 80: Rhapsody in Berserk, used its effect to banish Blaster, Dragon Ruler of Infernos and Fire King Avatar Yaksha. He then Set a card and passed.

 

Perry drew Vanity’s Emptiness for turn, Set it and passed.

 

Weatherly drew and activated Mystical Space Typhoon to destroy Perry’s only set card. He then Normal Summoned Satellarknight Altair to revive Satellarknight Deneb but realized he had no targets left to search. He declared an attack with Altair putting Perry down to 4050, then overlayed for Daigusto Emeral in Main Phase 2 and used it to shuffle back all 3 copies of Altair into his Deck and draw a card. He Set one more card to his back row and then passed.

 

Perry drew Light-Imprisoning Mirror, and set it before he passed the turn.

 

Weatherly top decked Mystical Space Typhoon and activated it immediately. He used Daigusto Emeral’s effect to shuffle back Satellarknight Unukalhai, Number 103: Ragnazero, and Cairngorgon, Antiluminescent Knight so he could draw a card, then attacked for 3000 with Emeral equipped with Number 80: Rhapsody in Berserk to put Perry down to 1050 Life Points.

 

Perry top decked Onslaught of the Fire Kings! He used it to Special Summon Fire King High Avatar Garunix and then moved to End Phase so Garunix would destroy itself.

 

Weatherly drew for turn and during his Standby Phase, Perry Special Summoned his Fire King High Avatar Garunix to destroy the Daigusto Emeral. Weatherly, unphased, activated Reinforcement of the Army to find Satellarknight Deneb which he then Normal Summoned to search Satellarknight Altair. Afterwards, he activated Mind Control to take Garunix! With a clear field, Deneb was able to attack for the win.

 

 

Weatherly shuts down Perry’s Fire Kings and takes his Satellarknights to a 6-1 record!
