Round 8 Feature Match: Walter Jule versus Rennel Galvez
Walter Jule from San Diego, California and Rennel Galvez from Alberta, Canada are both currently 6-1 with their Nekroz Decks – a popular Deck made possible by the recent release of The Secret Forces. Both of these Duelists will be Dueling in tomorrow’s Swiss Rounds regardless of the outcome of this Duel; but that won’t stop both of these Duelists from trying their hardest to win. A victory in this round will give one of these Duelists a 7-1 record entering tomorrow’s Swiss Rounds, significantly increasing his chance for a Top 32 finish. It’s time to Duel!
Duel One
Jule chose to go first in Duel 1 and opened up with Shurit, Strategist of the Nekroz, Manju of the Ten Thousand Hands, Senju of the Thousand Hands, Nekroz of Unicore, and Mystical Space Typhoon. He Summoned Senju and activated its effect to add Nekroz of Clausolas to his hand and then discarded Nekroz of Clausolas to add Nekroz Kaleidoscope from his Deck to his hand. Next, he activated Kaleidoscope and sent Herald of the Arc Light from his Extra Deck to his Graveyard to Special Summon Nekroz of Unicore from his hand. He added Nekroz Cycle from his Deck to his hand with the effect of his Arc Light. Next, he combined Senju with Nekroz of Unicore to Xyz Summon Lavalval Chain and then detached Nekroz of Unicore to send Djinn Releaser of Rituals from his Deck to his Graveyard. He activated Nekroz Cycle next, banishing the Djinn from his Graveyard to Special Summon Nekroz of Clausolas from his Graveyard. While Clausolas remains on his field, Galvez is unable to Special Summon any monsters thanks to the effect of the Djinn!
Galvez Summoned Senju of the Thousand Hands and activated its effect to add Nekroz of Brionac to his hand. He discarded Nekroz of Brionac to add Nekroz of Valkyrus from his Deck to his hand and then ended his turn.
Jule Summoned Manju of the Ten Thousand Hands next turn. He activated its effect to add Nekroz of Brionac from his Deck to his hand and then attacked Senju with his Lavalval Chain, destroying it in battle and dealing 400 points of damage to Galvez. Manju attacked directly next, dropping Galvez down to 6200 Life Points. In Main Phase 2, Jule activated his Lavalval Chain’s effect to put Nekroz of Unicore on top of his Deck.
Galvez drew a card and passed his turn.
Jule drew his Nekroz of Unicore and then Summoned another Manju. He activated its effect to add Nekroz Mirror from his Deck to his hand. Next, he discarded Nekroz of Brionac to add Nekroz of Gungnir from his Deck to his hand. He activated Nekroz Mirror to Tribute Shurit, Strategist of the Nekroz and Special Summon Nekroz of Gungnir from his hand. He added Nekroz of Brionac to his hand with the effect of his Shurit. He attacked with Manju, and when Galvez discarded Valkyrus to try to stop the attack, Galvez Chained the effect of Nekroz of Gungnir to discard Brionac and destroy the Manju whose attack was stopped. This allowed Jule to attack with his remaining 3 monsters, dropping Galvez down to 500 Life Points.
Galvez activated Preparation of Rites next turn and added Nekroz of Brionac to his hand. He discarded Nekroz of Brionac to add Nekroz of Valkyrus to his hand and then activated another copy of Preparation of Rites to add Nekroz of Unicore from his Deck to his hand. He discarded his Unicore to add another Nekroz of Valkyrus from his Graveyard to his hand.
Jule attacked with Lavalval Chain, and when Galvez activated the effect of his Nekroz of Valkyrus, Jule activated the effect of Nekroz of Gungnir to discard Nekroz of Brionac from his hand and destroy Lavalval Chain. This allowed Jule to attack with his remaining 3 monsters and win the Duel!

Duel Two
Jule opened up with Maxx “C”, Nekroz of Gungnir, Nekroz Mirror, Raigeki, and Vanity’s Emptiness. He Set Vanity’s Emptiness and then ended his turn.
Galvez activated Preparation of Rites to add Nekroz of Brionac to his hand and then discarded Nekroz of Brionac to add Nekroz of Valkyrus to his hand.
Jule drew Nekroz of Valkyrus and then ended his turn.
Galvez discarded Nekroz of Clausolas from his hand to add Nekroz Cycle from his Deck to his hand. He discarded Nekroz Mirror from his hand in his End Phase to drop the number of cards in his hand down to 6.
Jule drew Nekroz Cycle and then passed his turn.
Galvez activated Nekroz Cycle, and Jule Chained Maxx “C”. Galvez Tributed Shurit, Strategist of the Nekroz from his hand to Special Summon Nekroz of Valkyrus from his Graveyard and Jule drew a card. Next, Galvez added Nekroz of Brionac from his Deck to his hand with the effect of Shurit, Strategist of the Nekroz. He discarded Nekroz of Brionac to add Nekroz of Valkyrus from his Deck to his hand. He attacked directly with Nekroz of Valkyrus. Galvez Tributed his Valkyrus to draw a card in Main Phase 2.
Jule drew Dark Hole and then activated Nekroz Cycle. Galvez Chained Maxx “C”! Jule Tributed Shurit from his hand to Special Summon Nekroz of Valkyrus, allowing Galvez to draw a card. Jule added Nekroz of Brionac to his hand with the effect of Shurit and then discarded Nekroz of Brionac to add Nekroz of Valkyrus to his hand. He attacked directly with Valkyrus before ending his turn.
Galvez activated Snatch Steal to take control of Nekroz of Valkyrus! He activated its effect to Tribute it and draw a card. Next, Galvez activated Nekroz Kaleidoscope; but Jule Chained Vanity’s Emptiness. He Tributed Shurit from his hand and then used Shurit’s effect to add Nekroz of Brionac to his hand. He discarded Nekroz of Brionac next, adding Nekroz of Unicore to his hand. Then, he discarded Nekroz of Unicore from his hand to add Nekroz of Valkyrus from his Graveyard to his hand. Galvez Set a card to his back row before passing his turn.
Jule drew a card and then ended his turn.
Galvez Summoned Manju of the Ten Thousand Hands and activated its effect to add Nekroz of Decisive Armor to his hand. He attacked directly with Manju and then passed his turn.
Jule activated Preparation of Rites, adding Nekroz Cycle from his Graveyard to his hand and adding Nekroz of Brionac from his Deck to his hand. Vanity’s Emptiness was sent to the Graveyard alongside Preparation of Rites. Next, Jule activated Nekroz Cycle; but Galvez Chained Mind Crush, naming Nekroz of Trishula! Jule revealed his hand, which didn’t have Nekroz of Trishula in it, and Galvez lost a Nekroz Mirror from his hand due to Mind Crush’s drawback. Next, Jule Tributed Shurit, Strategist of the Nekroz from his hand to Special Summon Nekroz of Valkyrus and used Shurit’s effect to add Nekroz of Trishula from his Deck to his hand. He activated Nekroz Mirror next, and banished Shurit, Strategist of the Nekroz from his Graveyard to Ritual Summon Nekroz of Trishula! He activated Nekroz of Trishula’s effect to banish Manju from Galvez’s field, Nekroz of Valkyrus from Galvez’s hand, and Nekroz Cycle from Galvez’s Graveyard. Trishula attacked next, and Galvez discarded Nekroz of Valkyrus from his hand and banished Brionac from his Graveyard to stop the attack and end the Battle Phase. Jule Tributed his Nekroz of Valkyrus and Nekroz of Trishula to draw 2 cards with the effect of Nekroz of Valkyrus and then discarded Nekroz of Gungnir from his hand in his End Phase in order to reduce his hand size down to 6.
Galvez Summoned Manju of the Ten Thousand Hands and activated its effect to add Nekroz of Clausolas to his hand. Next, he activated Kaleidoscope and sent Shooting Quasar Dragon from his Extra Deck to his Graveyard to Special Summon Nekroz of Trishula and Nekroz of Clausolas from his hand. He attacked with Nekroz of Trishula, but Jule discarded Nekroz of Valkyrus from his hand to block the attack and end the Battle Phase! Galvez thereafter conceded, knowing that Jule had Raigeki and Dark Hole in his hand, along with a bunch of Ritual Monsters to Summon.
