Round 9 Feature Match: Demonte Cole versus Max Lewis

February 1st, 2015

Atlanta, Georgia’s Demonte Cole is currently 6-2 with his Infernity Deck – a Deck that many Duelists have been counting out since Infernity Archfiend became Limited when the January 1st, 2015 Forbidden & Limited List took effect. Cole is here to prove that Infernities can still be a powerful force on the tournament scene. Now, 13-year-old Duelist Max Lewis from Tallahassee, Florida stands in Cole’s way. Lewis has a 6-2 record like Cole, but used a more conventional Tellarknight Deck to obtain that record. Only one of these Duelists will be able to emerge from this round with a shot at a Top 32 finish. It’s time to Duel!

Duel One

Demonte Cole

Cole chose to go first and opened up with Reinforcement of the Army, Mystical Space Typhoon, Infernity Necromancer, Infernity Break, and Upstart Goblin. He activated Upstart Goblin to give Lewis 1000 Life Points and draw Soul Charge from his Deck and then activated Reinforcement of the Army to add Dark Grepher from his Deck to his hand. He Summoned Dark Grepher and then activated its effect by discarding Infernity Necromancer. He sent Armageddon Knight to his Graveyard with the effect of his Grepher. Next, Cole activated Soul Charge and paid 2000 Life Points to Special Summon Armageddon Knight and Infernity Necromancer from his Graveyard. He activated his Knight’s effect to send Infernity Archfiend from his Deck to his Graveyard, Set Infernity Break and Mystical Space Typhoon to his back row, and then activated his Necromancer’s effect to Special Summon Infernity Archfiend from his Graveyard in Attack Position. He activated his Archfiend’s effect to add Infernity Launcher from his Deck to his hand and then combined Armageddon Knight with Infernity Archfiend to Xyz Summon Lavalval Chain. He detached Infernity Archfiend to activate his Chain’s effect and then sent another Necromancer to his Graveyard. Next, he activated Infernity Launcher and sent it to the Graveyard to Special Summon another Necromancer and his Archfiend from his Graveyard. He used his Archfiend’s effect to add Infernity Barrier from his Deck to his hand and then Set his Barrier to his back row. Next, he combined Archfiend with Grepher to Xyz Summon Number 66: Master Key Beetle and activated his Beetle’s effect to link it up with his face-down Barrier by detaching Archfiend from it. Then, he used his Necromancer’s effect to Special Summon Infernity Archfiend from his Graveyard, and activated his Archfiend’s effect to add Infernity Break from his Deck to his hand. He Set Infernity Break before ending his turn.
