Local Seattle Duelist Amanuel Yihdego is Dueling in his first YCS this weekend! He finished the Swiss Rounds using a Nekroz Deck with an 8-1-1 record and just won his Top 32 Match. Omar Daoudi from Lakewood, California is in a similar situation. He finished the Swiss Rounds with an 8-2 record and just won a Top 32 Feature Match using his Nekroz Deck to defeat Qliphorts. But now, Yihdego and Daoudi are both entering new territory. They must cast aside their Nekroz Decks and use the Decks they constructed during the Battle Pack 3: Monster League draft. There will be no Ritual Monsters used in this Match – it’s time to Duel!

Duel One

 

Daoudi won the die roll and chose for Yihdego to go first. Yihdego opened up with Master Craftsman Gamil, Knight Day Grepher, Mask of Weakness, Enemy Controller, and Vylon Ohm. He Summoned Knight Day Grepher and Set Mask of Weakness and Enemy Controller before ending his turn.

 

 

Daoudi Summoned Chow Len the Prophet and activated its effect declaring “Trap” while targeting one of Yihdego’s back row cards; but Yihdego revealed his face-down Enemy Controller that was targeted by Chow Len’s effect. Next, Chow Len attacked Knight Day Grepher, and Yihdego flipped Mask of Weakness to lower the ATK of Chow Len and destroy it in battle. Daoudi Set 3 cards to his back row before ending his turn.

 

Yihdego drew Mask of Weakness and then Summoned Vylon Ohm. He attacked directly with Knight Day Grepher and Vylon Ohm to drop Daoudi down to 4200 Life Points and then Set Mask of Weakness before ending his turn.

 

Daoudi Summoned Shocktopus and attacked Vylon Ohm; but Yihdego discarded Master Craftsman Gamil from his hand to increase his monster’s ATK and win the battle. Shocktopus was destroyed in battle, and Daoudi used Shocktopus’s effect to equip it to Vylon Ohm, reducing its ATK to 0.

 

Yihdego drew Card Advance next turn. He attacked with Knight Day Grepher, and Daoudi flipped Butterspy Protection to switch Knight Day Grepher into Defense Position. Yihdego Summoned his on-field Knight Day Grepher to turn on its effect and then activated Card Advance to look at the top 5 cards of his Deck.

 

Daoudi Summoned Machine King Prototype and then attacked Knight Day Grepher with his Prototype. Yihdego flipped Enemy Controller and Tributed his Vylon Ohm to take control of Machine King Prototype.

 

Yihdego drew Royal Firestorm Guards and then switched Knight Day Grepher into Attack Position.

 

Daoudi Summoned Fabled Ashenveil. He attacked Day Grepher with Machine King Prototype and Yihdego flipped Mask of Weakness to lower its ATK; but Daoudi flipped Pollinosis to Tribute Fabled Ashenveil and negate Mask of Weakness. Machine King Prototype and Day Grepher were both destroyed in the battle, since they both had 1700 ATK!

 

Yihdego drew Dark Crusader and Summoned it. He attacked directly with Dark Crusader, dropping Daoudi down to 2400 Life Points.

 

Daoudi Summoned Card Trooper and activated its effect to send Shocktopus, Swords of Concealing Light, and Mist Valley Falcon from the top of his Deck to his Graveyard. He attacked Dark Crusader to destroy it and deal 300 points of damage to Daoudi.

 

Yihdego drew Telekinetic Shocker and Summoned it. He attacked Card Trooper, but Daoudi flipped Poseidon Wave! Telekinetic Shocker’s attack was negated, and Yihdego lost 800 Life Points.

 

Daoudi activated his Card Trooper’s effect by sending the top 3 cards of his Deck to his Graveyard and then Summoned Bazoo the Soul-Eater. He banished 3 monsters from his Graveyard to increase his Bazoo’s ATK to 2500 and then attacked Telekinetic Shocker with Card Trooper to destroy it. Bazoo attacked directly next, dropping Yihdego down to 4200 Life Points.

 

Yihdego Summoned Royal Firestorm Guards and activated its effect to shuffle 4 monsters from his Graveyard back into his Deck and draw Curse of Anubis and Black Brachios. He attacked Card Trooper with Royal Firestorm Guards and then attacked Card Trooper to destroy it and drop Daoudi down to 1100 Life Points. Daoudi drew a card with the effect of Card Trooper when it was destroyed. Yihdego Set Curse of Anubis before ending his turn.

 

Daoudi Summoned Sea Koala and activated its effect to reduce the ATK of the Guards to 0. Next, he banished 3 monsters from his Graveyard to increase Bazoo’s ATK to 2500. He attacked with Sea Koala, and Yihdego flipped Curse of Anubis to switch both of Daoudi’s monsters into Defense Position.

 

Yihdego drew Ancient Gear Knight on his next turn. He Summoned Koa’ki Meiru Doom and then attacked Bazoo with Doom; but Daoudi flipped Zero Gravity to change the battle position of all monsters on the field! Yihdego revealed Ancient Gear Knight in his End Phase to keep his Koa’ki Meiru Doom on the field.

 

Daoudi Summoned Telekinetic Shocker. He switched his Koala into Defense Position and then attacked with Bazoo and Shocker to destroy Yihdego’s 2 Defense Position monsters.

 

Yihdego Summoned Black Brachios next turn and activated its effect to switch Bazoo the Soul-Eater into Defense Position. He attacked Bazoo with his Brachios to destroy it and then Set Memory Loss to his back row.

 

Daoudi activated Sea Koala’s effect to reduce the ATK of Black Brachios to 0. Next, he Summoned Koa’ki Meiru Drago. He attacked Black Brachios with Telekinetic Shocker to destroy it in battle and deal 1700 points of damage to Yihdego and then attacked directly with Koa’ki Meiru Drago to drop Yihdego down to 600 Life Points. Daoudi revealed Sea Koala from his hand to keep his Drago on the field in his End Phase.

 

Yihdego drew One-Shot Wand on his next turn. He Summoned Ancient Gear Knight and then equipped it with One-Shot Wand. He attacked Sea Koala with Ancient Gear Knight and Daoudi flipped Psi-Curse, destroying the Ancient Gear Knight and dealing 600 points of damage to Daoudi – exactly enough damage to wipe Amanuel Yihdego out of the Duel!

Duel Two

 

Yihdego opened up with Dark Crusader, One-Shot Wand, The Warrior Returning Alive, Hypnocorn, and Black Brachios. He Summoned Black Crusader and then passed his turn.

 

 

Daoudi Summoned Telekinetic Shocker and attacked Dark Crusader to destroy it. He Set 2 cards to his back row before passing his turn.

 

Yihdego drew Earthquake and then Summoned Hypnocorn. He activated its effect to try to destroy one of Daoudi’s back row cards; but Daoudi Chained Memory Loss to negate its effect and switch Hypnocorn into Defense Position.

 

Daoudi Summoned Leotaur and attacked Hypnocorn to destroy it. Telekinetic Shocker attacked directly next, dropping Yihdego down to 6200 Life Points.

 

Yihdego drew Breaker the Magical Warrior and Summoned it to the field, adding a Spell Counter to it. He removed the Spell Counter to activate its effect and destroy Daoudi’s face-down Psi-Curse. He equipped Breaker the Magical Warrior with One-Shot Wand to increase its ATK and then attacked Leotaur to destroy it in battle.

 

Daoudi Summoned Destructotron. He activated Swords of Concealing Light to put Breaker the Magical Warrior face-down and then attacked Breaker with Destructotron to destroy it. Telekinetic Soldier attacked directly next, dropping Yihdego down to 4500 Life Points.

 

Yihdego activated The Warrior Returning Alive to return Breaker the Magical Warrior to his hand and then Summoned Breaker to the field. He removed the Spell Counter from Breaker to try to destroy Daoudi’s face-down back row; but Daoudi flipped Memory Loss to negate Breaker’s effect and switch it into Defense Position.

 

Daoudi Summoned Fabled Ashenveil next turn and attacked Breaker with Ashenveil to destroy it. Destructotron and Telekinetic Soldier attacked directly next, dropping Yihdego down to 1200 Life Points.

 

Yihdego drew Mast of Weakness. He Summoned Black Brachios and activated its effect to switch Fabled Ashenveil into Defense Position. He attacked with Black Brachios to destroy Fabled Ashenveil.

 

Daoudi Summoned Shocktopus and attacked Black Brachios with Shocktopus. He activated Shocktopus’s effect to equip it to Black Brachios and reduce its ATK to 0. An attack over Black Brachios with Destructotron finished off the rest of Yihdego’s Life Points!
