Round 10 Feature Match: Eddy Lee Versus Justin Delhon
Welcome to Day 2 of YCS Chicago! We have two more rounds of Swiss play, before we make the cutoff to Top 32. To start Sunday off, we’ve got a Michigan Duelist, Eddy Lee, using Shaddolls. He’s up against Edmonton Duelist Justin Delhon, using Nekroz. We’ve seen this matchup quite a few times throughout the weekend – each Deck is proving to be one of the definitive strategies of this tournament.
Duel 1
Lee won the dice roll and chose to play second.
Delhon began with Reinforcement of the Army, getting Nekroz of Clausolas, which he discarded to search for Nekroz Kaleidoscope. He activated it, sending Herald of the Arc Light from his Extra Deck to the Graveyard to Ritual Summon Nekroz of Unicore. Herald’s effect let him search for Nekroz of Valkyrus. He passed with just Unicore on the field.
Lee’s hand was Dark Hole, Shaddoll Squamata, Shaddoll Falco, Mathematician, Felis, Lightsworn Archer, and Peropero Cerperus. He Normal Summoned Mathematician, sending Shaddoll Squamata to the Graveyard. Squamata’s effect sent Shaddoll Beast to the Graveyard as well, and Lee drew Shadoll Core with its effect. Mathematician attacked Unicore to let Lee draw a card – another Mathematician. He Set Shadoll Core.
Delhon discarded a Clausolas to search for Nekroz Cycle. He played it, Tributing Shurit, Strategist of the Nekroz to Ritual Summon Valkyrus, and Shurit searched out Nekroz of Trishula. He discarded Unicore to add Nekroz Kaleidoscope back to his hand, then played it, Tributing another Shurit to play Trishula! Lee knew the game was already over after that!
Delhon takes a the first Duel in just two turns!
Duel 2
Lee decided to let Delhon play first. Delhon Set a card to his back row.
Lee’s hand was Raigeki, Black Luster Soldier – Envoy of the Beginning, Solemn Warning, Shaddoll Fusion, Shaddoll Beast, and Artifact Lancea. He played Shaddoll Fusion, and Delhon Chained Maxx “C”. Lee fused Lancea with Beast, bringing down El Shaddoll Construct! Construct sent Squamata to the Graveyard, and Beast let him draw Shaddoll Falco. Then, Squamata’s effect put Shaddoll Dragon in the Graveyard, which destroyed Delhon’s Set Mirror Force! Lee Special Summoned Black Luster Soldier, and smacked Delhon for 5800 total damage! He Set Falco, Raigeki, and Warning, leaving himself with no cards in his hand.
Delhon played Denko Sekka, and Lee decided not to use his Solemn Warning. Delhon played Nekroz Kaleidoscope, sending Herald of the Arc Light to Ritual Summon Nekroz of Unicore. He decided not to use Herald’s effect, because he needed less cards after he Xyz Summoned Evilswarm Exciton Knight – but it didn’t matter when Lee flipped Solemn Warning! Delhon looked over the remaining cards in his hand for a moment, and knew there was no way he’d make a comeback!
Lee evens up the score just as quickly as the first Duel! This Match is just one crushing victory after another! It all comes down to this final Duel to determine who will be victorious!
Duel 3
Delhon decided to let Lee play first. Lee’s hand was Shadoll Core, Mistake, Solemn Warning, Shaddoll Falco, and Effect Veiler. He Set the Trap Cards.
Delhon played Manju of the Ten Thousand Hands, and Lee Chained Mistake to the effect! Manju attacked direcitly, and Lee used Shadoll Core to block the attack. Delhon played Nekroz Cycle, Tributing Shurit, to bring out Unicore. He couldn’t use Shurit’s effect due to Mistake. He went for Exciton Knight, but got hit by Solemn Warning again! Delhon Set a back row card.
Lee drew El Shaddoll Fusion and played it, fusing Falco with Shadoll Core for El Shaddoll Construct. Construct got hit by Breakthrough Skill, but Falco revived itself face-down. Core returned El Shaddoll Fusion to the hand and Lee Set it after attacking.
Delhon passed. In the End Phase, Lee used El Shaddoll Fusion, fusing Construct with Falco for another Construct! Delhon banished Breakthrough Skill from the Graveyard to negate the new Construct, and Falco revived itself face-down again. The Construct that went to the Graveyard activated, returning El Shaddoll Fusion to the hand.
Lee drew Mirror of the Ice Barrier. He flipped Falco, returning Construct to the field face-down. He moved to the Battle Phase, and Delhon had nothing to stop him!
Eddy Lee wins the first Match of Day 2, thanks to Shaddolls!
