Top 8 Feature Match: Elvis Vu Versus Jayesh Madani
California’s Elvis Vu and New York’s Jayesh Madani both piloted their Nekroz Decks to a 9-2 record this weekend. Now, they’re Dueling against one another with their Battle Pack 3: Monster League Decks, in a Match that will determine which one of them advances to the Top 4. It’s time to Duel!
Duel One
Vu opened up Duel 1 with Butterflyoke, The Warrior Returning Alive, Unbreakable Spirit, Madolche Baaple, and Tardy Orc.
Vu Summoned Tardy Orc and then Set Butterflyoke.
Madani Summoned Chow Len the Prophet and activated its effect targeting Butterflyoke and calling Trap Card, preventing Madani from using Butterflyoke. Next, he attacked Tardy Orc with Chow Len and used Rush Recklessly to increase his monster’s ATK and destroy the Orc in battle.
Vu activated Noble Arms – Arfeudutyr, equipping Chow Len, and then destroyed Madani’s Pinpoint Guard. He activated The Warrior Returning Alive to return Tardy Orc to his hand, Summoned it to the field, and then Set Unbreakable Spirit to his back row. He passed his turn.
Madani activated his own Arfeudutyr to equip Tardy Orc and then tried to destroy Unbreakable Spirit; but Vu Chained it to increase his Orc’s ATK. He used Chow Len’s effect to pin down Butterflyoke. He Summoned Wind-Up Juggler next, and then activated 7 Completed to increase Chow Len’s ATK. Next, he attacked Tardy Orc with his Juggler, destroying both monsters thanks to the Juggler’s effect. Chow Len attacked directly for 2000 points of damage.
Vu drew his own Wind-Up Juggler and Summoned it.
Madani activated Chow Len’s effect to pin down Butterflyoke again. He activated Mark of the Rose next, banishing his Juggler from the Graveyard to take control of Vu’s Juggler. Then, he attacked directly with Koa’ki Meiru Guardian, Wind-Up Juggler, and Chow Len the Prophet to wipe Vu out!

Duel Two
Vu sent his hand to the bottom of his Deck to redraw a new hand.
Madani kept his hand and Set a monster before passing his turn.
Vu’s new hand contained Card Guard, Psychic Jumper, Pyramid of Wonders, Alien Brain, Leotaur, and Unbreakable Spirit. He Summoned Card Guard and attacked a face-down Friller Rabca to destroy it. Vu activated Pyramid of Wonders and Set Unbreakable Spirit before passing.
Madani Set a monster and then passed his turn.
Vu Summoned Leotaur and then attacked Madani’s face-down monster with Card Guard. Madani’s Electromagnetic Bagworm flipped face-up and took control of Leotaur.
Madani Tributed Leotaur to Set a monster and then activated Mark of the Rose! He banished the Bagworm from his Graveyard to take control of Card Guard and then attacked directly for 1900 points of damage.
Vu activated Book of Life! He banished Friller Rabca from Madani’s Graveyard and then Special Summon Leotaur from his Graveyard. He Summoned Psychic Jumper next. Leotaur attacked Madani’s face-down Stegocyber, and Vu flipped Unbreakable Spirit to increase the ATK of Leotaur and destroy it in battle. Card Guard and Psychic Jumper attacked directly next. In Main Phase 2, Vu combined Card Guard and Leotaur to Xyz Summon Gagaga Cowboy in Defense Position and detached an Xyz Material from it to inflict 800 points of damage to Madani. Vu Set Alien Brain and Curse of Anubis to his back row before passing his turn.
Madani Summoned Evilswarm Ketos and attacked Psychic Jumper to destroy it. Vu flipped Alien Brain when his Jumper was destroyed, gaining control of Ketos. Madani ended his turn with a clear field.
Vu detached another Xyz Material from Gagaga Cowboy to deal 800 points of damage to Madani and then switched his Cowboy into Attack Position. Cowboy attacked directly, and Madani lost 1500 Life Points. Then, he paid 1000 Life Points to Special Summon Stegocyber from his Graveyard in Defense Position. Vu Summoned Tardy Orc in Main Phase 2 and then ended his turn.

Vu drew Slate Warrior and Set it. He switched Gagaga Cowboy into Defense Position and then passed his turn.

Vu Flip Summoned Slate Warrior and activated its Flip Effect to weaken Stegocyber. Slate Warrior attacked Stegocyber to destroy it, and then a direct attack from Tardy Orc wiped out the rest of Madani’s Life Points!

Duel Three
Madani sent his hand back into his Deck to redraw a new one.
Vu opened up Duel 3 with Mask of Brutality, Submarineroid, The Warrior Returning Alive, Magical Undertaker, and Wind-Up Juggler. He Summoned the Juggler and then ended his turn.
Madani Summoned Diskblade Rider and attacked Wind-Up Juggler to destroy both monsters in battle. He Set a card to his back row before passing his turn.
Vu Summoned Submarineroid and attacked directly. He switched his Submarineroid into Defense Position and then Set a card to his back row before passing his turn.
Madani Summoned Chain Dog and then Set a card to his back row.
Vu drew Card Guard and Summoned it. He switched Submarineroid into Attack Position and attacked directly, subsequently switching his Submarineroid into Defense Position. Next, Card Guard attacked Chain Dog, and Madani activated Rush Recklessly in the Damage Step to strengthen his Chain Dog and defeat Card Guard in battle.
Madani Tributed his Chain Dog to Set a monster and then passed his turn.
Vu switched Submarineroid into Attack Position and attacked directly, thereafter switching it into Defense Position. He Set a monster and then Set a card to his back row.
Madani activated Ayers Rock Sunrise! He Special Summoned Diskblade Rider from his Graveyard. He attacked Vu’s face-down Magical Undertaker and Vu used its effect to Special Summon Wind-Up Juggler from his Graveyard in Attack Position.
Vu Summoned Winged Rhynos. He switched his Submarineroid into Attack Position and attacked directly with it. Next, Winged Rhynos attacked Diskblade Rider to destroy it. Wind-Up Juggler attacked a face-down Stegocyber next, destroying the Stegocyber with Juggler’s effect.
Madani Summoned Koa’ki Meiru Wall and then attacked Winged Rhynos with his Wall. Vu flipped Unbreakable Spirit in the Damage Step, but Madani negated it with Dark Bribe, allowing Vu to draw a card. Winged Rhynos was destroyed in battle, and Vu activated Alien Brain to take control of the Wall!
Vu activated The Warrior Returning Alive to return Card Guard to his hand and then Normal Summoned it with a Guard Counter. He activated Mask of Brutality next, increasing his Wall’s ATK. He switched Submarineroid into Attack Position and then attacked directly with it, switching Submarineroid into Defense Position afterwards. Madani paid 1000 Life Points to Special Summon Stegocyber from his Graveyard in Defense Position. Next, Vu attacked Stegocyber with Wind-Up Juggler, not realizing the Juggler’s effect could only be used once while it’s on the field. Koa’ki Meiru Wall attacked Stegocyber next to destroy it, and then Card Guard attacked directly, dropping Madani down to 1500 Life Points. Vu Set a card to his back row before passing his turn. He revealed Psychic Jumper from his hand to keep Koa’ki Meiru Wall on his field in the End Phase.
Madani activated Premature Burial and paid 800 Life Points to Special Summon Diskblade Rider from his Graveyard. He Summoned Battlestorm next, and then activated Chain Dog’s effect to Special Summon it from the Graveyard. Vu flipped Ready for Intercepting to put Battlestorm face-down. Madani activated Swords of Revealing Light and then attacked Wind-Up Juggler with Diskblade Rider to destroy the Juggler and the Rider.
Vu paid 1000 Life Points in his Standby Phase to keep his Mask of Brutality and then Summoned Metabo-Shark. He combined Metabo-Shark with Submarineroid to Xyz Summon Gagaga Cowboy and then detached an Xyz Material from Gagaga Cowboy to deal 800 points of damage to Madani and finish him off!
