Dragon Duelist Finals Feature Match: Dylan McGaha versus Nathanael Patton
The Dragon Duelists have been playing hard all day throughout their own tournament and now they’re down to the finals. This is the fifth round of swiss, and the whole thing has been Battle Pack 3: Monster League Sealed Play. McGaha won the die roll and opted to go first.
McGaha opened with Curse of Anubis, Master Craftsman Gamil, Vylon Ohm, Windstorm of Etaqua, and Enraged Battle Ox. He Set his two Trap Cards, Normal Summoned Enraged Battle Ox, and ended his turn.
Patton started off with an activation of Psi-Station. He then Normal Summoned Fencing Fire Ferret, and using Psi-Station to pay 500 Life Points and boost Fencing Fire Ferret up to 2000 ATK. Next, activated Stamping Destruction to destroy McGaha’s Curse of Anubis, which was chained to switch all effect monsters on the field to Defense Position. He then Set one backrow and ended his turn.
McGaha drew Ancient Gear Knight. He Normal Summoned it and attacked Fencing Fire Ferret. Fencing Fire Ferret’s effect kicked in, destroying the Ancient Gear Knight and inflicting 500 damage to McGaha. In the End Phase, Patton used Scapegoat to Special Summon four Scapegoat Tokens.
Patton Normal Summoned Machine King Prototype, used Psi-Station to boost it, and it gained ATK for all the Scapegoat Tokens. With the boosts, it was up to 2400 ATK! He used it to attack Enraged Battle Ox and ended his turn.
McGaha drew Cursed Armaments. He used Windstorm of Etaqua, Normal Summoned Vylon Ohm, and attacked the Machine King Prototype. In Main Phase 2 he equipped Cursed Armaments to Machine King Prototype, reducing it to 1800 ATK.
Patton switched the Machine King Prototype to Attack Position and attacked Vylon Ohm, but McGaha Master Craftsman Gamil. Cursed Armaments equipped to a Token and Patton ended his turn.
McGaha drew Ribbon of Rebirth and passed.
Patton Normal Summoned Goblin Elite Attack Force, pumped it up with Psi-Station, and attacked directly for 2500 damage. That dropped McGaha to 4000 Life Points. He Set a Spell or Trap and ended his turn.
McGaha drew Herald of Orange Light, Set it, and ended his turn.
Patton Set a backrow and ended.
McGaha drew Psychic Jumper. He Normal Summoned it, Flip Summoned Herald of Orange Light, and used Psychic Jumper, but Patton chained Dimension Gate! His monster was banished and the switch was halted. Next, McGaha attacked over two Tokens and ended his turn.
Patton Normal Summoned Evilswarm O’Lantern and pumped it up with Psi-Station, putting it at 1950. He then equipped it with Fusion Sword Murasame Blade. He attacked over Psychic Jumper to do 2650 damage, dropping McGaha to 350!
McGaha drew Banner of Courage. He equipped Herald of Orange Light with Ribbon of Rebirth, switched it to Defense Position, and ended his turn.
Patton attacked over Herald of Orange Light, which was brought back from the Graveyard with Ribbon of Rebirth. Patton ended his turn.
McGaha drew and equipped Reptilliane Rage onto Herald of Orange Light.
Patton attacked over Herald of Orange Light with O’Lantern and it lost 800 ATK.
McGaha drew Super Rush Recklessly, thought for a moment, and then decided to move onto a Game 2. Psi-Station dominates the first game but there’s still time for comebacks!
McGaha chose to go second. Patton started with two backrow and Telekinetic Shocker. Then he ended his turn.
McGaha started with Herald of Orange Light, Knight Day Grepher, Ancient Gear Knight, Bound Wand, Master Craftsman Gamil, and Windstorm of Etaqua. He Normal Summoned Ancient Gear Knight, equipped it with Bound Wand, and when he entered the Battle Phase Patton used Butterspy Protection to switch it to Defense Position. McGaha Set Windstorm and passed.
Patton used Stamping Destruction to destroy Windstorm of Etaqua, which was chained to switch Telekinetic Shocker to Defense Position. Patton Set a backrow and ended his turn.
McGaha drew Nordic Relic Laevatheinn. He Normal Summoned Knight Day Grepher, switched Ancient Gear Knight to Attack Position, Set the Nordic Relic, and then attacked Telekinetic Shocker with Grepher. Patton responded with Magical Arm Shield, stealing Ancient Gear Knight and forcing Grepher to attack it! McGaha’s Grepher was destroyed in battle.
Patton Set a monster in face-down Defense Position and ended his turn.
McGaha drew Bark of the Dark Ruler. McGaha Gemini Summoned Ancient Gear Knight, Set the Bark of the Dark Ruler, and attacked Patton’s face-down Tackle Crusader. Its effect activated, but McGaha chained Herald of Orange Light to negate it!
Patton activated Psychokinesis to destroy Ancient Gear Knight and take 1000 damage. Bound Wand Special Summoned the Knight back. Patton then Normal Summoned Golden Flying Fish. He used its effect tributing the Telekinetic Shocker to destroy Knight and attack directly for 1700 damage.
McGaha drew Arsenal Bug. He Normal Summoned it and attacked Golden Flying Fish, using Bark of the Dark Ruler to pay 800 Life Points and run over the Telekinetic Shocker by battle! Patton then used Alien Brain to take control of Arsenal Bug. McGaha used Nordic Relic to destroy the Arsenal Bug! It was a crazy combo that you’ll only see in Sealed Play.
Patton Normal Summoned Goblin Elite Attack Force and attacked directly. After the attack it switched to Defense Position.
McGaha Normal Summoned Enraged Battle Ox and attacked over the Goblin Elite Attack Force. Then he ended.
Patton activated Swords of Revealing Light.
McGaha drew Cursed Armaments and ended his turn.
Patton drew Card Guard, Normal Summoned it, and attacked over Enraged Battle Ox with the 300 boost from its effect. In Main Phase 2 he moved the Card Guard counter to Swords of Revealing Light and ended his turn.
McGaha drew Vylon Ohm. He used Curse Armaments on Card Guard, then Normal Summoned Vylon Ohm. He used its effect to banish Bound Wand and ended his turn.
Patton Set a backrow and ended.
McGaha drew Koa’ki Meiru Guardian. He activated Bound Wand on Ohm and ended his turn. Swords of Revealing Light was destroyed in the End Phase.
Patton Normal Summoned Psychic Jumper and paid 1000 Life Points to swap Card Guard and Vylon Ohm. He attacked over Card Guard with Ohm, and then Cursed Armaments equipped to Ohm. Jumper hit for 100, and Patton ended his turn.
McGaha drew and activated Night Bream, destroying an Intrigue Shield. He then Normal Summoned Koa’ki Meiru Guardian, attacking over Vylon Ohm, and the Guardian was destroyed in the End Phase.
Patton drew and revealed Evilswarm O’Latern, and McGaha conceded the Match! That was today’s Dragon Duel Finals Feature Match, filled with tons of Sealed Play goodness.
