11-year-old Diego Lopez won yesterday’s Dragon Duel tournament to earn himself the first spot in today’s Dragon Duel Playoff. His opponent, 12-year-old Tyler Hanson, won today’s Dragon Duel to earn himself the second spot. Now, Tyler Hanson, fresh off of his win from the Public Events playoff, is Dueling against Diego Lopez in a Match that will determine the Dragon Duel Champion of the weekend! It’s time to Duel!

Duel One

Hanson opened up Duel 1 with Emergency Teleport, Juragedo, Shadow-Imprisoning Mirror, Honest, and Kozmo Forerunner. He activated Emergency Teleport to Special Summon Kozmo Farmgirl from his Deck and then banished it from the Duel to Special Summon Kozmo Forerunner from his hand. He Set Shadow-Imprisoning Mirror before passing his turn.

Lopez activated Black Whirlwind and then Normal Summoned Blackwing – Zephyros the Elite. He activated the effect of his Black Whirlwind to add Blackwing – Blizzard the Far North from his Deck to his hand. Next, he Special Summoned Blackwing – Bora the Spear from his hand. He attacked Forerunner with Zephyros, and Lopez discarded Blackwing – Kalut the Moon Shadow from his hand to increase his Zephyros’s ATK by 1400; but Hanson Chained Honest from his hand to increase his Forerunner’s ATK and destroy the Zephyros in battle! Next, Hanson flipped Shadow-Imprisoning Mirror. Lopez Special Summoned Blackwing – Gale the Whirlwind in Main Phase 2 and then Tuned it with Bora to Synchro Summon Blackwing Armor Master in Attack Position.

Hanson drew Maxx “C” and then attacked Blackwing Armor Master with his Forerunner; but Lopez discarded Kalut from his hand to increase his monster’s ATK by 1400 and defeat the Forerunner in battle! After Hanson’s Forerunner was sent to the Graveyard, Hanson banished it from the Duel to activate its effect and Special Summon Kozmo Sliprider from his Deck in Attack Position. He activated his Sliprider’s effect to destroy Lopez’s Black Whirlwind and then ended his turn.

Lopez Summoned Blackwing – Kris the Crack of Dawn and then attacked Sliprider with Armor Master to destroy it. Hanson banished his Sliprider from the Duel to Special Summon Kozmo Goodwitch from his Deck in Attack Position, and then Kris attacked Kozmo Goodwitch. Hanson Special Summoned Juragedo from his hand in Defense Position, and then Kris attacked and destroyed Juragedo to destroy it.

Hanson activated the effect of his Goodwitch to put Blackwing Armor Master face-down and then attacked Blackwing Armor Master; but Blackwing Armor Master couldn’t be destroyed in battle due to its own effect! Hanson Normal Summoned Ghost Ogre & Snow Rabbit in Main Phase 2, and then Tuned his Goodwitch with his Ghost Ogre to Synchro Summon Ancient Fairy Dragon in Defense Position.

Lopez activated Mystical Space Typhoon to destroy Shadow-Imprisoning Mirror and then Normal Summoned Blackwing – Blizzard the Far North! He activated its effect, but Hanson Chained Maxx “C” to its effect! Lopez Special Summoned Gale from his Graveyard with Blizzard’s effect, allowing Hanson to draw 1 card. Next, Lopez used Gale’s effect to halve the ATK and DEF of Ancient Fairy Dragon. He switched his Armor Master into Attack Position and then attacked Ancient Fairy Dragon with Kris to destroy it. Blackwing Armor Master and Blizzard attacked directly next, dropping Hanson down to 2400 Life Points.

Hanson drew Mirror Force and Set it face-down.

Lopez attacked with Blackwing Armor Master and Hanson flipped Mirror Force! Blackwing Armor Master and Blizzard were destroyed, but Kris protected itself with its own effect! Kris attacked directly next, dropping Hanson down to 500 Life Points. In Main Phase 2, Lopez Normal Summoned Blackwing – Shura the Blue Flame and combined it with Kris to Xyz Summon Gagaga Cowboy in Defense Position! Lopez detached an Xyz Material from his Cowboy to inflict 800 points of damage to Hanson, wiping out the rest of his Life Points!

Duel Two

Lopez started off Duel 2 by activating Black Whirlwind. He Normal Summoned Blackwing – Zephyros the Elite and Hanson discarded Maxx “C” from his hand to activate its effect. Lopez added Blackwing – Gale the Whirlwind from his Deck to his hand with the effect of his Black Whirlwind and then ended his turn.

Hanson activated Dark Hole to clear the field and then Set Solemn Warning and Torrential Tribute.

Lopez activated the effect of his Zephyros from the Graveyard to Special Summon it to the field and return his Black Whirlwind to his hand. He lost 400 Life Points by doing so. Next, Hanson discarded Maxx “C” from his hand so that he could draw a card on each of Lopez’s subsequent Special Summons. Lopez activated Black Whirlwind next, and then Normal Summoned Blackwing – Bora the Spear; but Hanson flipped Torrential Tribute to destroy all monsters on the field!

Hanson drew Emergency Teleport! He activated it to Special Summon Kozmo Farmgirl from his Deck and then attacked directly, dropping Lopez down to 6100 Life Points. He paid 500 Life Points to activate Farmgirl’s effect and add Kozmo Forerunner from his Deck to his hand. Next, he banished his Farmgirl to Special Summon Forerunner from his hand in Attack Position. He attacked directly with it, dropping Lopez down to 3300 Life Points.

Lopez activated Mystical Space Typhoon to destroy Hanson’s face-down Solemn Warning and then Normal Summoned Blackwing – Blizzard the Far North. He activated its effect and Chained the effect of his Black Whirlwind. He added Blackwing – Pinaki the Waxing Moon to his hand with the effect of his Black Whirlwind and Special Summoned Zephyros from his Graveyard with the effect of his Blizzard. Next, he Tuned Blizzard with Zephyros to Synchro Summon Blackwing – Nothung the Starlight in Attack Position, dealing 800 points of damage to Hanson. Next, he Special Summoned Blackwing – Oroshi the Squall. He Tuned Oroshi with Nothung to Synchro Summon Blackwing Tamer – Obsidian Hawk Joe, and then activated its effect to Special Summon Nothung from his Graveyard. Nothung attacked Forerunner, and then Lopez discarded Blackwing – Kalut the Moon Shadow from his hand to increase his monster’s ATK and destroy Forerunner in battle. Hanson banished his Forerunner from his Graveyard to Special Summon Sliprider from his Deck and used his Sliprider’s effect to destroy Black Whirlwind. Next, Obsidian Hawk Joe attacked and destroyed Sliprider, dropping Hanson down to 5400 Life Points. Hanson banished his Sliprider from the Duel to Special Summon Kozmo Goodwitch from his Deck in Attack Position. Lopez used his Nothung’s effect to Set a Blackwing from his hand and then passed his turn.

Hanson activated Instant Fusion and paid 1000 Life Points to Special Summon Elder Entity Norden from his Extra Deck. He activated his Goodwitch’s effect by paying 500 Life Points and put Obsidian Hawk Joe face-down. Next, Hanson combined Norden with Goodwitch to Xyz Summon Number 101: Silent Honor ARK! He detached both Xyz Materials from Number 101: Silent Honor ARK to take Nothung from Lopez and turn it into an Xyz Material. Number 101: Silent Honor ARK attacked Lopez’s face-down Obsidian Hawk Joe and then Hanson Special Summoned Juragedo from his hand. Number 101: Silent Honor ARK destroyed Obsidian Hawk Joe in battle, and then Juragedo attacked and destroyed Lopez’s face-down Pinaki. Lopez added Blackwing – Blizzard the Far North from his Deck to his hand with the effect of Pinaki in his End Phase.

Lopez activated Raigeki! Hanson Tributed his Juragedo to increase the ATK of his Number 101: Silent Honor ARK and then Number 101: Silent Honor ARK detached an Xyz Material to protect itself. Hanson Normal Summoned Blackwing – Blizzard the Far North next, and activated its effect to Special Summon Bora from his Graveyard in Defense Position. He Special Summoned Blackwing – Gale the Whirlwind in Attack Position next, and activated Gale’s effect to halve the ATK and DEF of Number 101: Silent Honor ARK. Then he Tuned Gale with Bora in order to Synchro Summon another Obsidian Hawk Joe to the field! He activated its effect to Special Summon Nothung from his Graveyard and inflict 800 points of damage to Hanson while reducing Number 101’s ATK to 750. Blizzard attacked and destroyed Number 101: Silent Honor ARK, dropping Hanson down to 4050 Life Points, and then direct attacks from Nothung and Obsidian Hawk Joe finished Hanson off!
