Top 8 Feature Match: Jonathon Gomez versus Ryan Levine
Jonathon Gomez and Ryan Levine have both had a lot of recent success with their Nekroz Decks. They both piloted Nekroz Decks to the Top 32 at the most recent YCS Toronto, and are now trying to take their Decks further with a YCS victory. Both of these Duelists recently strengthened their Decks with the inclusion of Instant Fusion and Elder Entity Norden, in order to increase their Decks’ field-swarming capabilities. But the dream of becoming the 2015 YCS Dallas winner will end for one of these Duelists, as they’re facing off against one another in this Top 8 Feature Match! It’s time to Duel!
Duel One
Gomez started off Duel 1 by Summoning Senju of the Thousand Hands and activated its effect to add Nekroz of Brionac from his Deck to his hand. He discarded Nekroz of Clausolas next, adding Nekroz Kaleidoscope from his Deck to his hand. He discarded Nekroz of Brionac next, adding Shurit, Strategist of the Nekroz from his Deck to his hand. Gomez activated Nekroz Kaleidoscope, and Levine Chained Maxx “C”! Gomez Tributed Shurit from his hand to Special Summon Nekroz of Valkyrus to the field, allowing Levine to draw a card. Gomez added Nekroz of Brionac to his hand with the effect of Shurit. Next, Gomez Tributed Nekroz of Valkyrus and Senju with Valkyrus’s effect to draw 2 cards. He banished Nekroz Kaleidoscope and Nekroz of Clausolas from his Graveyard next, in order to add Nekroz Kaleidoscope from his Deck to his hand.
Levine started his turn with Vanity’s Emptiness, Manju of the Ten Thousand Hands, Nekroz of Unicore, Nekroz of Valkyrus, Nekroz Mirror, and Instant Fusion. He Summoned Manju to the field and activated its effect to add Nekroz Kaleidoscope from his Deck to his hand. He activated the Kaleidoscope to send Armityle the Chaos Phantom from his Extra Deck to his Graveyard and Special Summon Nekroz of Unicore and Nekroz of Valkyrus from his hand. He attacked with Manju, and Gomez discarded Nekroz of Valkyrus from his hand and banished Nekroz of Brionac from his Graveyard to stop the attack and end the Battle Phase. In Main Phase 2, Levine combined Manju with Nekroz of Unicore to Xyz Summon Number 80: Rhapsody in Berserk, and detached both Xyz Materials to banish both copies of Nekroz of Valkyrus from Gomez’s Graveyard. Next, he activated Instant Fusion and paid 1000 Life Points to Special Summon Elder Entity Norden from his Extra Deck! He activated its effect to Special Summon Manju from his Graveyard and then combined Manju with Norden to Xyz Summon Daigusto Emeral. He detached an Xyz Material from Emeral to shuffle Nekroz of Unicore, Maxx “C”, and Manju from his Graveyard back into his Deck and draw Effect Veiler. He activated the effect of his Nekroz of Valkyrus next, Tributing his Number 80 and his Emeral to draw 2 more cards from his Deck. He discarded Nekroz of Brionac next, adding Nekroz of Valkyrus from his Deck to his hand. He Set Vanity’s Emptiness before passing his turn.
Gomez discarded Nekroz of Brionac from his hand to add Dance Princess of the Nekroz from his Deck to his hand. He Summoned Dance Princess, and Levine flipped Vanity’s Emptiness, prompting Gomez to end his turn.
Levine attacked Dance Princess with Nekroz of Valkyrus to destroy it and then passed his turn.
Gomez activated Reinforcement of the Army, adding Nekroz of Clausolas from his Deck to his hand, and then Normal Summoned Senju of the Thousand Hands. He activated its effect, and Levine discarded Effect Veiler from his hand to negate it. Gomez Set 3 cards to his back row before ending his turn.
Levine drew Nekroz Kaleidoscope and then attacked Senju with his Valkyrus to destroy it, dropping Gomez down to 5200 Life Points.
Gomez discarded Nekroz of Clausolas from his hand to add Nekroz Cycle from his Deck to his hand and then passed his turn.
Levine drew Torrential Tribute and then attacked directly with Nekroz of Valkyrus, dropping Gomez down to 2300 Life Points. He Set Torrential Tribute and Nekroz Kaleidoscope to his back row before passing his turn.

Gomez Summoned Manju of the Ten Thousand Hands and activated its effect; but Levine discarded Effect Veiler from his hand to negate its effect. Next, Gomez discarded Nekroz of Unicore from his hand to add Nekroz of Brionac from his Graveyard to his hand, and then discarded Nekroz of Brionac to add Nekroz of Valkyrus from his Deck to his hand.
Levine drew Instant Fusion and then attacked Manju with Nekroz of Valkyrus. Gomez discarded Nekroz of Valkyrus from his hand and banished a Nekroz of Unicore from his Graveyard to stop the attack and end the Battle Phase with Nekroz of Valkyrus’s effect.
Gomez switched his Manju into Defense Position and then Set a monster face-down.
Levine attacked and destroyed Gomez’s face-down Maxx “C” and then Set a card to his back row.

Levine Normal Summoned Senju and activated its effect to add Nekroz of Valkyrus from his Deck to his hand. Next, he attacked Manju with Senju to destroy it, and attacked Gomez’s face-down Great Sorcerer of the Nekroz with Valkyrus to destroy it. Levine discarded Senju in his End Phase, since he had 7 cards in his hand.

Levine opened up Duel 2 with Nekroz Mirror, Effect Veiler, Maxx “C”, Senju of the Thousand Hands, and Instant Fusion. He Summoned Senju and activated its effect to add Nekroz of Brionac from his Deck to his hand. Next, he discarded Nekroz of Brionac to add Nekroz of Unicore from his Deck to his hand. He discarded Nekroz of Unicore next, activating its effect to return Nekroz of Brionac from his Graveyard to his hand.
Gomez Summoned Manju of the Ten Thousand Hands and activated its effect to add Nekroz of Brionac from his Deck to his hand. Next, he activated Nekroz Kaleidoscope, and Levine Chained Maxx “C”. Gomez sent Dragon Master Knight from his Extra Deck to his Graveyard to Special Summon Nekroz of Valkyrus and Nekroz of Unicore from his hand, allowing Levine to draw a card. Next, Gomez attacked Senju with Nekroz of Valkyrus to destroy it in battle. Manju and Nekroz of Unicore attacked directly next, dropping Levine down to 2800 Life Points. He added Nekroz of Trishula from his Deck to his hand with the effect of his Herald. Next, he activated Nekroz Mirror! He banished Nekroz of Brionac and Nekroz of Clausolas from his Graveyard to Special Summon Nekroz of Trishula from his hand, and activated the effect of his Nekroz of Trishula to banish Nekroz of Valkyrus from Gomez’s field, Nekroz Kaleidoscope from Gomez’s Graveyard, and Nekroz of Trishula from Gomez’s hand. He activated Instant Fusion next, Special Summoning Panzer Dragon from his Extra Deck. When his Panzer Dragon was destroyed in his End Phase by Instant Fusion’s effect, Gomez used his Dragon’s effect to destroy Levine’s Nekroz of Unicore.
Levine drew Reinforcement of the Army and then activated Preparation of Rites! He added Nekroz of Brionac from his Deck to his hand and Nekroz Mirror from his Graveyard to his hand. He discarded Nekroz of Brionac to add Nekroz of Valkyrus to his hand and then activated Nekroz Mirror. He banished 2 copies of Nekroz of Unicore from his Graveyard to Special Summon Nekroz of Valkyrus and then activated the effect of his Nekroz of Valkyrus to Tribute both of his on-field monsters and draw 2 copies of Shared Ride from his Deck. Next, Levine banished Nekroz Mirror and Nekroz of Brionac from his Graveyard to add Nekroz Cycle from his Deck to his hand. He activated Reinforcement of the Army next, adding Shurit, Strategist of the Nekroz to his hand. He activated the effect of the Nekroz Kaleidoscope in his Graveyard next, banishing it along with a Nekroz of Valkyrus from his Graveyard to add a Nekroz Mirror from his Deck to his hand. Then, he activated Nekroz Cycle, Tributing the Shurit from his hand to Special Summon Nekroz of Trishula from his Graveyard. He activated Nekroz of Trishula’s effect to banish Nekroz of Unicore from Gomez’s field, Nekroz of Valkyrus from Gomez’s Graveyard, and Shurit, Strategist of the Nekroz from Gomez’s hand. Next, Levine added Nekroz of Clausolas from his Deck to his hand with the effect of his Tributed Shurit. Levine activated Instant Fusion next, paying 1000 Life Points to Special Summon Elder Entity Norden from his Extra Deck. He activated its effect to Special Summon Manju from his Graveyard and then Tuned Norden with Manju and Effect Veiler to Synchro Summon Trishula, Dragon of the Ice Barrier! He activated its effect to banish Manju from Gomez’s field, Nekroz of Brionac from Gomez’s Graveyard, and Nekroz Mirror from Gomez’s hand. Direct attacks from Nekroz of Trishula and Trishula, Dragon of the Ice Barrier dropped Levine down to 1600 Life Points.
