Welcome to YCS San Jose!

November 7th, 2015

952 Duelists have made their way out to beautiful downtown San Jose this weekend to compete for a chance at becoming the next Yu-Gi-Oh! Championship Series winner, but only one can rise above the rest!

Prior to our last Yu-Gi-Oh! Championship Series, the competitive scene was dominated by Nekroz, Burning Abyss, and Shaddolls, but a few new strategies managed to break out from the rest and make a big impact on Day 2, including Infernoid which eventually won the tournament. If that was not enough to shake things up, the recent release of Dimension of Chaos brings a ton of new cards and Decks that we are bound to see this weekend.

Majespecters are a WIND Spellcaster based Pendulum theme that takes advantage of consistent search effects backed up by powerful Spells and Traps. We have not seen a Pendulum strategy have major success other than Qliphort a few months back, so it will definitely be exciting to see another Deck take advantage of the powerful Pendulum mechanic. Kozmos also got a ton of new powerful support and has been the talk of the event. Now with the devastating Kozmo Dark Destroyer, the balance between the force has wavered as Kozmos utilize both the LIGHT and DARK side to vanquish their foes.

As of Monday November 9th a new Forbidden & Limited List will go into place. Older strategies that were proving to be too dominate such as Burning Abyss, Nekroz, Shaddolls, and Qliphorts all took hits, meaning that we will probably see less of them as things move forward. However, this Forbidden & Limited List has not gone into effect yet, so many Duelists have chosen to give these strategies one last full powered hoorah.

Can the older strategies manage to take down another YCS before the new F&L List takes place? Or will the powerful new cards from Dimenson of Chaos be too much for them to handle? We will have to see who will rise above the rest on Sunday!

It’s Time to Duel!
