The more things change…

We saw the brothers McGaha face each other in yesterday’s Dragon Duel under Battle Pack: Epic Dawn Sealed. Dawson came out on top yesterday, and Dylan placed first in today’s Dragon Duel. Now, they face each other again, this time in Constructed Advanced Format, but with higher stakes. The winner of this match will be awarded a set of Super Rare Darklords, the former YCS Prize Cards along with a Dragon Duel Championship trophy! Who will go home with the prize cards? Well, both of them since they’re riding back home in the same car… but let’s go to the action anyway!

Game 1

Dawson won the roll and elected to go first and Normal Summoned Edea the Heavenly Squire, and used its effect to Special Summon Eidos the Underworld Squire from the Deck. Edios allowed an additional Tribute Summon this turn, and it was used to tribute Edea the Heavenly Squire for Majesty’s Fiend. He passed to his brother.

Dylan drew and set 2 cards to the back then activated Domain of the True Monarchs, then passed.

Dawson drew The Monarchs Stormforth, Tributing Eidos the Underworld Squire for Fog King. Because of Fog King’s effect, its ATK became 800.

Dylan drew to 4 cards, and passed.

Dawson drew Tenacity, revealing Majesty’s Fiend in hand, Dylan chained Mind Crush, declaring Majesty’s Fiend. Majesty’s Fiend was discarded and Dawson revealed Vanity’s Fiend and The Monarchs Stormforth while Dawson added Pantheism of the Monarchs to his hand. He activated Pantheism, discarding Stormforth to draw 2 copies of Erebus. Next, Dawson banished Pantheism of the Monarchs to reveal March of the Monarchs, Tenacity of the Monarchs and another Monarch Spell. March was added to his hand, the others were shuffled back into the Deck. March was activated, then Dawson attacked with both monsters.

Dylan activated Pantheism of the Monarchs, discarding another one to draw 2 new cards. He followed up with Edea the Heavenly Squire, but was locked down by Majesty’s Fiend. He passed his turn with Edea the Heavenly Squire and a face-down Spell/Trap.

Dawson drew and attacked with Majesty’s Fiend into Edea the Heavenly Squire, Dylan activated his face-down Escalation of the Monarchs and attempted to use the effect but Fog King was preventing Tributes. Edea was destroyed by battle with no effect thanks to Majesty’s Fiend.

Dylan activated Return of the Monarchs, set a monster and passed.

Dawson attacked with Majesty’s Fiend into the face-down Battle Fader, then Fog King attacked directly.

Dylan drew for turn, set another monster and passed.

Dawson activated Pantheism of the Monarchs, discarding Tenacity of the Monarchs to draw 2 cards. Then he activated Tenacity, revealing Erebus the Underworld Monarch, searching for Pantheism of the Monarchs. Dawson followed up with another Pantheism of the Monarchs, discarding The Prime Monarch to draw 2 cards. One of the Pantheism of the Monarchs was banished, revealing Return, The Monarchs Stormforth and The Prime Monarch. Dylan selected The Prime Monarch to be added to hand. Dawson had Majesty’s Fiend attack into the face-down Eidos the Underworld Squire and Fog King attacked directly again. Dawson set The Prime Monarch and ended.

Dylan drew, then Dawson immediately flipped the set The Prime Monarch, sending Tenacity and Pantheism of the Monarchs back to the Deck to draw another Majesty’s Fiend. Dylan pressed on, using the in-graveyard effect of Pantheism of the Monarchs, banishing it to reveal 3 copies of Tenacity, forcing that to be the choice. He activated Tenacity, revealing Erebus and searching for Pantheism of the Monarchs. He set a monster and passed.

Dawson drew to 8 cards in hand, Normal Summoning Edea the Heavenly Squire, then attacking with Majesty’s Fiend into a set Effect Veiler, then attacking for game with Fog King and Edea the Heavenly Squire!

Game 2

Dylan elected to go first. He activated One for One, discarding Erebus the Underworld Monarch to Special Summon Edea the Heavenly Squire from the Deck! Edea the Heavenly Squire’s effect activated but Dawson shut it down with Effect Veiler. Dylan set a Spell/Trap and ended.

Dawson set The Prime Monarch and ended.

Dylan drew and passed.

Dawson also drew and passed.

Dylan set a Spell/Trap and attacked with Edea.

Dawson activated Tenacity of the Monarchs, revealing Majesty’s Fiend, adding Pantheism of the Monarchs from Deck to hand. He activated that Pantheism, discarding The Prime Monarch to draw 2 cards. He continued by activating Twin Twisters, discarding Foolish Burial, destroying Mirror Force and Escalation of the Monarchs. He continued by banishing Pantheism of the Monarchs, revealing 2 copies of The Monarchs Stormforth, and Tenacity of the Monarchs. Dylan chose Tenacity of the Monarchs to be added to the hand. He then used The Prime Monarch’s effect from the graveyard, banishing Tenacity of the Monarchs from the Graveyard. Dawson then Tributed The Prime Monarch for Majesty’s Fiend, which attacked into Edea the Heavenly Squire. He set another Spell/Trap and ended.

Dylan fired back with The Monarchs Stormforth, Tributing his brother’s Majesty’s Fiend for Ehther the Heavenly Monarch! He used Ehther’s effect, sending The Prime Monarch and Pantheism of the Monarchs to Special Summon Kuraz the Light Monarch! Kuraz the Light Monarch’s effect destroyed his brother’s 2 face-downs, Eradicator Epidemic Virus and The Prime Monarch! Dawson drew 2 cards from Kuraz’s effect. Ehther the Heavenly Monarch declared a direct attack but is was blocked by Speedroid Menko from Dawson’s hand! Everything Dylan controlled went to Defense Position. Dylan ended, and Kuraz the Light Monarch returned to Dylan’s hand.

Dawson drew for turn, then Normal Summoned Edea the Heavenly Squire, Special Summoning Eidos from the Deck. He activated Raigeki! He then set The Monarchs Stormforth and ended.

Dylan destroyed all monsters on the field with Dark Hole! Dawson’s Edea the Heavenly Squire activated it effect, adding back a banished Pantheism of the Monarchs to his hand. Dylan passed back.

Dawson activated Pantheism of the Monarchs, discarding Tenacity of the Monarchs to draw 2 cards. At this point, time was called, and 3 additional turns would be played. He activated another Pantheism of the Monarchs, discarding The Monarchs Stormforth to draw 2 more cards. He then banished one of the Pantheisms, and revealed March, Tenacity of the Monarchs and Return of the Monarchs. Dylan chose Return to be added to the hand. He activated Return, then banished Eidos the Underworld Squire to Special Summon Edea the Heavenly Squire from the Graveyard, using Edea’s effect to Special Summon Eidos from the Deck, using that for an additional Tribute Summon this turn. He Tributed both monsters for Erebus the Underworld Monarch! Dawson then added a banished Tenacity of the Monarchs with Edea the Heavenly Squire, then Erebus the Underworld Monarch sent Tenacity of the Monarchs and Pantheism of the Monarchs to shuffle his brothers only set Spell/Trap back to the Deck, then Return’s effect added Majesty’s Fiend. He pressed on, activating Tenacity of the Monarchs, revealing Erebus the Underworld Monarch, adding March to his hand, which was activated. Erebus attacked directly, then Dawson passed back.

Dylan Normal Summoned Eidos the Underworld Squire, then used the additional Tribute Summon for Kuraz the Light Monarch. Kuraz the Light Monarch attempted to target March and Erebus the Underworld Monarch, but couldn’t because of March. He decided on March and Kuraz the Light Monarch itself. Each player drew a card, then Dylan was forced to pass back.

Entering the 2^nd turn of time, Dawson Normal Summoned Eidos the Underworld Squire, then Tributed it for Majesty’s Fiend, Erebus the Underworld Monarch was switched to Defense Position and Majesty’s Fiend attacked directly.

Going into the final turn, Dawson was leading in Life Points 7200 to 1200. Dylan would need to do 6000 damage in order to force the Duel into more additional turns, or more damage to force a third and deciding game. Dylan activated Raigeki, destroying both monsters. He banished Pantheism of the Monarchs from the Graveyard, adding The Monarchs Stormforth. He then activated Pantheism of the Monarchs, discarding The Monarchs Stormforth, but Dawson responded with Mystical Refpanel! Dawson drew 2 cards instead! Dylan attempted to use Eidos the Underworld Squire, to Special Summon Edea the Heavenly Squire, but Edea’s effect was negated by Effect Veiler! Dylan then used The Prime Monarch, then Tributed it and Edea for Erebus the Underworld Monarch! Erebus the Underworld Monarch attacked directly, but it wasn’t enough to change the result of the game.
