Finals Feature Match: Ryan Murakami versus Garon Williams
Ryan Murakami was the lone Kozmo Duelist in the Top 8, and has made his way through a Field filled with Performapal Pendulums and Monarchs in order to make it to the Finals. Garon Williams was one of the three Performapal Pendulum Duelists, but his unique take on the strategy involves Performapal Secondonkey, Instant Fusion, and Brilliant Fusion to guarantee explosive plays.
Only one of these two can hold the title of the Ultimate Duelist, and this match decides it all.
Williams won the roll and chose to go first.
Duel One:
Williams started with Draco Face-Off; Luster Pendulum, the Dracoslayer won the clash and was put into the Pendulum Zone, while Vector Pendulum, the Dracoverlord went to the Extra Deck. Williams put Performapal Lizardraw in his Pendulum Zone next and activated Wavering Eyes, destroying both of his Pendulums to add Performapal Skullcrobat Joker. He Normal Summoned it and activated its effect, getting Performapal Monkeyboard which he then used in his Pendulum Zone to add Performapal Guitartle. He Pendulum Summoned for Luster Pendulum, the Dracoslayer, Vector Pendulum, the Dracoverlord, and Performapal Skullcrobat Joker. He Synchro Summoned Ignister Prominence, the Blasting Dracoslayer using Performapal Skullcrobat Joker and Luster Pendulum, the Dracoslayer as his Synchro Materials. He then used the effect of Ignister Prominence, the Blasting Dracoslayer and Special Summoned Master Pendulum, the Dracoslayer. He overlayed Master Pendulum, the Dracoslayer and Vector Pendulum, the Dracoverlord for Majester Paladin, the Ascending Dracoslayer, then used it to Special Summon Luster Pendulum, the Dracoslayer. He searched Performapal Pendulum Sorcerer during the End Phase thanks to Majester Paladin, the Ascending Dracoslayer
Murakami opened with Kozmo Tincan, Kozmo Strawman, Upstart Goblin, Call of the Haunted, Kozmo Sliprider, and Kozmo Dark Destroyer. He activated Upstart Goblin and drew Kozmo Farmgirl, then Normal Summoned Kozmo Tincan. He Set a back row and moved to End Phase where he activated the effect of Kozmo Tincan, revealing Kozmo Dark Destroyer, Kozmotown, and Kozmo Sliprider. The Kozmotown was added to his hand, then he attempted to use the effect of Kozmo Tincan but was met with Williams’ Solemn Warning!
Williams drew but during his Draw Phase, Murakami activated Call of the Haunted to Special Summon Kozmo Dark Destroyer and destroy Williams’ Ignister Prominence, the Blasting Dracoslayer. Williams Normal Summoned Performapal Pendulum Sorcerer and Synchro Summoned another Ignister Prominence, the Blasting Dracoslayer using it along with Luster Pendulum, the Dracoslayer as Synchro Materials. He then activated the effect of Ignister Prominence, the Blasting Dracoslayer and Special Summoned Master Pendulum, the Dracoslayer from his Deck. He Fusion Summoned Dinoster Power, the Mighty Dracoslayer next, using Master Pendulum, the Dracoslayer and Performapal Lizardraw as Fusion Materials. From there he activated the effect of Dinoster Power, the Mighty Dracoslayer to Special Summon a Dracoslayer that was immediately shot away with Ignister Prominence, the Blasting Dracoslayer to spin away the opposing Kozmo Dark Destroyer. After a Pendulum Summon, Williams had enough damage to win the Duel!
Williams showcases his mastery of Performapal Pendulum as he takes some huge turns and defeats Murakami in game one. Can Murakami harness the force to come back in the second bout?
Murakami chose to go first.
Duel Two:
Murakami started with a hand of Call of the Haunted, Emergency Teleport, Kozmo Tincan, Kozmo Dark Destroyer, and Kozmojo. He Normal Summoned Kozmo Tincan and Set all of his Spells and Traps before using its effect during the End Phase, revealing Kozmo Dark Destroyer, Kozmotown, and Kozmo Sliprider. The Kozmotown was randomly added play passed to Williams.
Williams drew and activated Draco Face-Off, where Vector Pendulum, the Dracoverlord was Special Summoned and Luster Pendulum, the Dracoslayer was put into the Extra Deck. He tried to Normal Summon Psi-Blocker next but Murakami immediately responded with Kozmo Tincan to Special Summon Kozmo Dark Destroyer and blow it away. Williams pressed on with Performapal Guitartle in his Pendulum Zone along with Guiding Ardiadne. However, after the Guiding Ardiadne hit the table, Murakami activated his Kozmojo to destroy his own Kozmo Dark Destroyer and banish the Guiding Ardiadne. The Kozmo Dark Destroyer then triggered, letting Murakami Special Summon Kozmo Sliprider to destroy the Performapal Guitartle. Williams Set a card a tried to end his turn, but Murakami had Call of the Haunted for Kozmo Sliprider to destroy his Set Imperial Iron Wall.
Murakami drew Kozmo Forerunner. He activated Kozmotown and used its effect to add back Kozmo Dark Destroyer and then slammed down Emergency Teleport for Kozmo Farmgirl! Williams saw the writing on the wall and conceded the Duel!
Murakami disrupts Williams enough to seize the second Duel. Can Williams combo off now that he is going first in the final game? Or will Murakami manage to break through his Field? The winner of this Duel will be crowned the Ultimate Duelist!
Williams chose to go first.
Duel Three:
Williams started with Brilliant Fusion! He sent Gem-Knight Lazuli along with Performage Trick Clown to Special Summon Gem-Knight Seraphinite. The Performage Trick Clown triggered and Williams Special Summoned it, then he Normal Summoned Guiding Ardiadne before overlaying both for King of the Feral Imps. Williams activated its effect, prompting Murakami to activate his Effect Veiler in hopes to hinder his progression. Williams Set a Monster and ended his turn.
Murakami started with a hand of Skill Drain, Kozmo Farmgirl, and two copies of Kozmotown before he drew Kozmo Dark Destroyer. He Normal Summoned Kozmo Farmgirl and attacked over the Gem-Knight Seraphinite. He then activated the effect of Kozmo Farmgirl to Special Summon Kozmo Dark Destroyer so that he could use the Kozmo Dark Destroyer to destroy itself and trigger to Special Summon Kozmo Sliprider. The Kozmo Sliprider blew away Brilliant Fusion, and then crashed into King of the Feral Imps. Williams triggered his Performage Trick Clown to Special Summon itself, but Murakami Special Summoned Kozmoll Wickedwitch off of the Kozmo Sliprider. He swung into Performage Trick Clown and in Main Phase 2 activated Kozmotown. He used its effect to add back Kozmo Dark Destroyer before he Set Skill Drain and ended his turn.
Williams drew and activated Instant Fusion. Elder Entity Norden hit the table and triggered its effect to Special Summon Performage Trick Clown. However, once the Performage Trick Clown hit the table, Murakami activated Kozmoll Wickedwitch to Special Summon Kozmo Dark Destroyer from his hand and destroy the opposing Elder Entity Norden. This then banished the Performage Trick Clown because it was bound by the effect of Elder Entity Norden. Williams was forced to simply Set another Monster before he ended.
Murakami drew Twin Twister for turn. He activated the effect of Kozmotown to add back Kozmo Farmgirl so he could Normal Summon it. He declared an attack with Kozmo Farmgirl on one of a Set Guiding Ardiadne, which then triggered to reveal three Solemn Strike. One wound up in the hand of Williams before Murakami declared an attack with his Kozmo Dark Destroyer to destroy Williams’ Set Performapal Secondonkey. Still during the Battle Phase he activated Twin Twister to destroy his own Kozmotown, which then allowed him to add Kozmo Dark Destroyer to his hand. He then activated Kozmo Farmgirl to Special Summon Kozmo Dark Destroyer, which then destroyed his other Kozmo Dark Destroyer to Special Summon Kozmo Forerunner. With two attacks, the Duel was over and Murakami is the Ultimate Duelist!
And that’s it! After 10 grueling Rounds of Swiss and a Top 8 Cut filled with the cream of the crop, Ryan Murakami with his Kozmo Deck emerges as the Ultimate Duelist over Garon Williams!
