Ohio’s Thomas Rowe and Mexico’s Jose Lagunes both made it to the Finals of YCS Atlanta with their Performapal Pendulum Decks; but only one of them will take home the trophy. Who will become the champion? We’re about to find out! It’s time to Duel!

Duel One

Lagunes won the die roll and chose to go first.

He started things off by activating Performapal Guitartle in his Pendulum Zone and then activating Performapal Monkeyboard. He used Guitartle’s effect to draw a card and then used Monkeyboard’s effect to add Performapal Skullcrobat Joker from his Deck to his hand. He Summoned Skullcrobat Joker next, and activated its effect to add Performapal Monkeyboard from his Deck to his hand. Next, he Pendulum Summoned 2 Performapal Pendulum Sorcerers from his hand, and activated the effect of one of them to destroy the cards in his Pendulum Zones, sending them to his Extra Deck face-up. He added Performapal Lizardraw and Performapal Skullcrobat Joker to his hand with the effect of his Sorcerer. He combined his 2 Sorcerers with Skullcrobat Joker next, Xyz Summoning Tellarknight Ptolemaeus from his Extra Deck, and then activated its effect by detaching all 3 Xyz Materials to upgrade it into Cyber Dragon Nova. He upgraded his Nova into Cyber Dragon Infinity next, Set a card to his back row, and then placed Vector Pendulum, the Dracoverlord in his Pendulum Zone.

Rowe opened up with Upstart Goblin, Performage Plushfire, Performage Mirror Conductor, Performage Damage Juggler, and 2 copies of Wavering Eyes.

He activated Upstart Goblin to draw Performapal Monkeyboard and give Lagunes 1000 Life Points. Next, Rowe activated Performage Mirror Conductor in his Pendulum Zone; but Lagunes negated it and destroyed it with the effect of Cyber Dragon Infinity. Rowe activated Performapal Monkeyboard next, and then placed Performage Plushfire in his Pendulum Zone alongside it. He activated Wavering Eyes to destroy all cards in the Pendulum Zones. Lagunes Chained Twin Twisters, discarding Monkeyboard, to try to destroy Lagunes’s 2 Pendulum Scales, but Rowe Chained a second Wavering Eyes to destroy all 3 Pendulum Scales on the field! He added Performapal Skullcrobat Joker from his Deck to his hand, banished Cyber Dragon Infinity from the field, and dealt 500 points of damage to Lagunes with the effects of Wavering Eyes. Next, Rowe Summoned Performapal Skullcrobat Joker and activated its effect to add Monkeyboard from his Deck to his hand. He placed it in his Pendulum Zone and activated its effect to add Performapal Lizardraw from his Deck to his hand. He activated Lizardraw in his Pendulum Zone and then Pendulum Summoned Plushfire from his Extra Deck and Damage Juggler from his hand. He used the effect of Lizardraw to destroy it and draw Upstart Goblin next, and then activated Upstart Goblin to draw a card and give Lagunes 1000 Life Points. Next, he attacked directly with Plushfire, Damage Juggler, and Skullcrobat Joker, dropping Lagunes down to 5200 Life Points. Rowe combined his 3 monsters to Xyz Summon Tellarknight Ptolemaeus next, and then activated its effect to upgrade it into Cyber Dragon Nova. Finally, he upgraded his Nova into Cyber Dragon Infinity and then ended his turn.

Lagunes drew to 3 cards in hand with an empty field. He activated Mirror Conductor in his Pendulum Zone and Rowe allowed it to resolve. Next, he placed Lizardraw in his Pendulum Zone. He activated the effect of the Mirror Conductor in his Pendulum Zone to reduce the ATK of Cyber Dragon Infinity to 1600, and then Pendulum Summoned Vector Pendulum from his Extra Deck. He attacked over Cyber Dragon Infinity to destroy it and then Summoned Skullcrobat Joker in Main Phase 2, activating its effect to add Performapal Pendulum Sorcerer from his Deck to his hand. He combined Mirror Conductor with Skullcrobat Joker to Xyz Summon Abyss Dweller and then ended his turn.

Rowe drew Maxx “C” and then Lagunes activated the effect of his Abyss Dweller by detaching an Xyz Material from it. Rowe Set his Pendulum Sorcerer and then ended his turn.

Lagunes drew a card and then Rowe discarded Maxx “C” from his hand to activate its effect. Dweller attacked and destroyed Pendulum Sorcerer, sending it face-up to Rowe’s Extra Deck.

Rowe drew Damage Juggler and Lagunes activated his Dweller’s effect once again.

Lagunes Pendulum Summoned Vector Pendulum, the Dracoverlord and Performapal Pendulum Sorcerer and then used his Sorcerer’s effect to destroy the cards in his Pendulum Zone and add Skullcrobat Joker and Monkeyboard from his Deck to his hand. He Summoned Skullcrobat Joker next, and used its effect to add Performapal Lizardraw from his Deck to his hand. Next, Lagunes combined his Sorcerer with Skullcrobat Joker to Xyz Summon Performage Trapeze Magician, and activated its effect to allow Vector Pendulum, the Dracoverlord to attack twice. He attacked with each monster and twice with Vector Pendulum, but Rowe discarded Damage Juggler from his hand to stop the damage that would be inflicted by the Trapeze Magician. In the End Phase, Vector Pendulum was destroyed and sent to the Extra Deck due to Trapeze Magician’s effect.

Rowe banished Damage Juggler from his Graveyard to add Performage Hat Tricker from his Deck to his hand. Next, he Normal Summoned Damage Juggler and Special Summoned Hat Tricker. He combined his 2 monsters to Xyz Summon Ptolemaeus and then Lagunes discarded Effect Veiler to negate its effect.

Lagunes activated Monkeyboard next turn, prompting Rowe to concede.

Jose Lagunes wins a back-and-forth Duel to gain the advantage in this final Match!

Duel Two

Rowe chose to go first and opened up with Solemn Strike, Luster Pendulum, the Dracoslayer, Performapal Magician, and 2 copies of Wavering Eyes.

Rowe activated Luster Pendulum, the Dracoslayer in his Pendulum Zone and then activated Performapal Pendulum Sorcerer to accompany it. He activated Luster Pendulum’s effect to destroy the Sorcerer and add another Sorcerer to his hand, and then placed the Sorcerer in his Pendulum Zone. He Pendulum Summoned a Pendulum Sorcerer from his Extra Deck and activated its effect to try to destroy the 2 cards in his Pendulum Zone; but Lagunes discarded Effect Veiler from his hand to negate its effect. Rowe Set 2 copies of Wavering Eyes and a Solemn Strike before ending his turn.

Lagunes Normal Summoned Vector Pendulum, the Dracoverlord and then Special Summoned Performage Hat Tricker from his hand. He combined Vector Pendulum with Hat Tricker to Xyz Summon Castel, the Skyblaster Musketeer and activated its effect by detaching both Xyz Materials. Castel’s effect targeted the Performapal Pendulum Sorcerer in Rowe’s Pendulum Zone, but Rowe Chained Wavering Eyes to destroy both of his own Pendulum Scales and add Performapal Monkeyboard from his Deck to his hand while inflicting 500 points of damage to Lagunes. Castel attacked and destroyed Performapal Pendulum Sorcerer, sending it face-up to the Extra Deck. Lagunes Set a card to his back row and activated Vector Pendulum, the Dracoverlord in his Pendulum Zone before ending his turn.

Rowe drew Deck Devastation Virus and Set it face-down.

Lagunes Summoned Luster Pendulum, the Dracoslayer and attacked directly with Castel and his Luster Pendulum, dropping Rowe down to 3650 Life Points.

Rowe drew another Monkeyboard next turn and activated it. He flipped Wavering Eyes next, and when Lagunes tried to stop Wavering Eyes by discarding Damage Juggler from his hand, Rowe flipped Solemn Strike to negate the effect of Damage Juggler! Both Pendulum Scales on the field were destroyed, and Rowe added Performapal Skullcrobat Joker to his hand while dealing 500 points of damage to Lagunes. Rowe Summoned Skullcrobat Joker next, and activated its effect to add Performapal Silver Claw from his Deck to his hand. Next, he activated Performapal Monkeyboard from his hand and activated its effect to add Performapal Lizardraw from his Deck to his hand. He activated Lizardraw and then proceeded to Pendulum Summon Vector Pendulum, the Dracoverlord and 2 copies of Performapal Pendulum Sorcerer from his Extra Deck. He activated his Sorcerer’s effect to destroy the 2 cards in his Pendulum Zone and then added Performapal Skullcrobat Joker and Performapal Guitartle from his Deck to his hand. Next, he Tuned 2 monsters together to Summon Ignister Prominence, the Blasting Dracoslayer; but Lagunes flipped Treacherous Trap Hole to destroy the Ignister Prominence along with Skullcrobat Joker! Rowe activated Performapal Silver Claw in his Pendulum Zone and then passed his turn.

Lagunes banished Damage Juggler from his Graveyard to add Performage Mirror Conductor from his Deck to his hand, and Rowe conceded.
