Round 2 Feature Match: Billy Brake Versus Omar Daoudi

February 20th, 2016

Billy Brake started his day off with a Round 1 Bye that he cashed in some of his UDS points for, so Omar Daoudi is his first opponent. Three time YCS Winner Billy Brake is trying to add a UDS Invitational title and take the belt home, but Omar Daoudi is hungry for a win of his own. Omar Daoudi has made the Top Cut of every YCS and WCQ he has entered thus far, and with a total of 6 Top Cut finishes he really wants to prove he can do more.

Brake is using a Draco Performapal Deck with Painful Decision and Unexpected Dai to accelerate him to his Dracos. Daoudi on the other hand has included the Pendulum Magician engine in his Performapal Deck, alongside DARK tools such as Armageddon Knight and Blackwing – Zephyros the Elite. Which will prove their Pendulum dominance and take the victory?

Brake won the roll and chose to go first.

Duel One:

Brake opened with a hand of Vector Pendulum, the Dracoverlord, Performapal Guitartle, Solemn Strike and two copies of Unexpected Dai. He activated it and Special Summoned Master Pendulum, the Dracoslayer before he Normal Summoned Vector Pendulum, the Dracoverlord. He then overlayed both for Majester Paladin, the Ascending Dracoslayer and Set Solemn Strike before he ended his turn. He added Performapal Skullcrobat Joker to his hand during the End Phase.

Daoudi tried to start things off with the activation of the Armageddon Knight he Normal Summoned , but Brake had Solemn Strike when Daoudi tried to use its effect. Daoudi pressed on with Draco Face-Off, ultimately allowing him to Special Summon Luster Pendulum, the Dracoslayer and put Vector Pendulum, the Dracoverlord into his Extra Deck face up. He activated Vector Pendulum, the Dracoverlord next alongside a Performapal Guitartle, then used Wavering Eyes to destroy both and add Wisdom-Eye Magician to his hand. He activated the Wisdom-Eye Magician alongside Dragonpit Magician, then used the effect of Wisdom-Eye Magician to destroy itself and place Oafdragon Magician on scale. He then Pendulum Summoned two copies of Vector Pendulum, the Dracoverlord, and Wisdom-Eye Magician before he Synchro Summoned Ignister Prominence, the Blasting Dracoslayer using Wisdom-Eye Magician and Luster Pendulum, the Dracoslayer. With an activation of Ignister Prominence, the Blasting Dracoslayer to Special Summon Master Pendulum, the Dracoslayer and then its other effect to spin away the opposing Majester Paladin, the Ascending Dracoslayer, Daoudi had enough damage to win the Duel!

Duel Two:

Brake opened up with Maxx “C”, Master Pendulum, the Dracoslayer, Performapal Silver Claw, and two copies of Mystical Space Typhoon. He Set both spells and Normal Summoned Master Pendulum, the Dracoslayer before he ended.

Daoudi drew and tried to activate Performapal Monkeyboard, but Brake had Mystical Space Typhoon to destroy it. He then activated Vector Pendulum, the Dracoverlord on Scale and Set three to his back row before he ended.

Daoudi drew and activated Raigeki to blow away the Master Pendulum, the Dracoslayer, then ended.

Brake drew Vector Pendulum, the Dracoverlord and Normal Summoned it. He declared an attack to put Daoudi down to 4200 Life Points before he ended his turn.

Daoudi drew and immediately placed Dragonpit Magician in his Pendulum Zone. He Pendulum Summoned his Performapal Monkeyboard in Defense Mode and ended.

Brake drew Painful Decision for turn and slammed it down. He sent Master Pendulum, the Dracoslayer to the Graveyard to add another copy to his hand, then Normal Summoned that same copy. He Fusion Summoned Dinoster Power, the Mighty Dracoslayer but lost out to Daoudi’s Time-Space Trap Hole.

Daoudi drew and Set a card to his back row before he ended.

Brake drew Guiding Ariadne for turn and placed it in his Pendulum Zone alongside Performapal Silver Claw, but Daoudi Flipped his Set Wavering Eyes! All of the Pendulum Scales were destroyed and Daoudi added Performapal Skullcrobat Joker and another copy of Wavering Eyes to his hand. Brake Chained his only Set Mystical Space Typhoon, destroying Daoudi’s Solemn Strike. The Guiding Ariadne triggered and Brake revealed two copies of Solemn Strike and a copy of Solemn Warning; Daoudi chose to let him grab Solenn Strike. Brake Set it and ended.

Daoudi Normal Summoned the Performapal Skullcrobat Joker that he had added, but Brake negated its effect with Solemn Strike.

Brake drew Performapal Guitartle and ended.

Daoudi drew and passed his turn back.

Brake drew Vector Pendulum, the Dracoverlord and thought for a moment, but ultimately chose to Normal Summon it.

Daoudi drew and Normal Summoned Master Pendulum, the Dracoslayer before he declared an attack over Brake’s Vector Pendulum, the Dracoverlord and ended.

Brake drew another copy of Maxx “C” and without any options, was forced to Set it.

Daoudi drew to four cards and considered his possible lines, ultimately choosing to put Performapal Lizardraw alongside Dragonpit Magician in his Pendulum Zones. Brake activated Maxx “C” to deter Daoudi from doing much else, and Daoudi simply attacked directly with Master Pendulum, the Dracoslayer before he ended.

Brake drew Wavering Eyes, a small glimmer of hope, and Set it before he ended.

Daoudi drew for turn and Brake Flipped his Set Wavering Eyes, but Daoudi responded with a copy of his own! He added Luster Pendulum, the Dracoslayer to his hand thanks to the Quickplay Spell, then continued with Draco Face-Off. He hit Vector Pendulum, the Dracoverlord and chose to put it in his Pendulum Zone along with a Luster Pendulum, the Dracoslayer from his hand. From there, he Pendulum Summoned Vector Pendulum, the Dracoverlord, Performapal Skullcrobat Joker, and two copies of Master Pendulum, the Dracoslayer. With only 5400 Life Points remaining for Brake, that was enough to finish the Duel!
