Alberto Lopez and Andrew Do are local friends from Sacramento, California; they have both traveled to Southern California this weekend to get a shot at the belt, and at 4-1, they definitely have a shot. Lopez has chosen to use Kozmo this weekend, while Do is Dueling with Performapals. Which will come out on top?

Lopez won the roll and chose to go first.

Duel One:

Lopez opened with Solemn Strike, Call of the Haunted, Kozmo Farmgirl, Kozmo Strawman, and Kozmojo. He Set all three of his Traps to the back row before he Normal Summoned Kozmo Farmgirl and ended.

Do began with Draco Face-Off, hitting Master Pendulum, the Dracoslayer and putting Vector Pendulum, the Dracoverlord into his Extra Deck. He declared an attack with Master Pendulum, the Dracoslayer and Lopez let it through, losing is Kozmo Farmgirl to the Battle. Do Normal Summoned Luster Pendulum, the Dracoslayer next and tried to Synchro Summon Ignister Prominence, the Blasting Dracoslayer, but Lopez Flipped his Solemn Strike to stop it. Do pressed forward with Performapal Monkeyboard and used it to add Performapal Skullcrobat Joker to his hand.

Lopez drew Kozmo Sliprider for turn. He Normal Summoned Kozmo Strawman and declared a direct attack. He then activated Call of the Haunted and Special Summoned Kozmo Farmgirl from his Graveyard, then swung directly with that and getting to activate its effect to add Kozmo Dark Destroyer to his hand. He then activated Kozmo Strawman and Special Summoned Kozmo Sliprider from his hand. He used the effect of Kozmo Sliprider to destroy Do’s Performapal Monkeyboard, and after an activation of Kozmo Farmgirl to Special Summon Kozmo Dark Destroyer the Duel was over!

After a quick first Duel, Lopez claims victory with Kozmos. Can Do manage to win two in a row?

Do chose to go first in the second Duel.

Duel Two:

Do started with Draco Face-Off and hit Luster Pendulum, the Dracoslayer, putting Vector Pendulum, the Dracoverlord into his Extra Deck. He placed the Luster Pendulum, the Dracoslayer in his Pendulum Zone along with a Vector Pendulum, the Dracoverlord from his hand, then activated Wavering Eyes to destroy both and add Performapal Skullcrobat Joker to his hand. He Normal Summoned the Performapal Skullcrobat Joker and used its effect to add Performapal Monkeyboard, which then let him add Performapal Lizardraw when he activated it in his Pendulum Zone. He activated Performapal Lizardraw next, then announced a Pendulum Summon for two copies of Vector Pendulum, the Dracoverlord, Luster Pendulum, the Dracoslayer, and Blackwing – Zephyros the Elite from his hand. He Synchro Summoned Ignister Prominence, the Blasting Dracoslayer next using Luster Pendulum, the Dracoslayer and Performapal Skullcrobat Joker as Synchro Materials. He triggered the effect of Ignister Prominence, the Blasting Dracoslayer to Special Summon Master Pendulum, the Dracoslayer from his Deck, then activated Performapal Lizardraw to draw a card. He overlayed Vector Pendulum, the Dracoverlord and Blackwing – Zephyros the Elite for King of the Feral Imps, using its effect to add Performapal Lizardraw to his hand. He then activated the effect of Blackwing – Zephyros the Elite to return Performapal Monkeyboard to his hand and Special Summon it from the Graveyard. He overlayed Blackwing – Zephyros the Elite for Traptrix Rafflesia before he ended.

Lopez had a hand of Kozmo Strawman, Kozmo Tincan, Kozmotown, Kozmo Sliprider, and Kozmo Forerunner before he drew Kaiser Coliseum. He activated Kozmotown and shuffled back Kozmo Sliprider and Kozmo Strawman to draw Call of the Haunted and Solemn Strike. He Normal Summoned Kozmo Tincan and Set two to his back row before he activated Kaiser Coliseum. He moved to End Phase and activated the effect of Kozmo Tincan, revealing Kozmo Dark Destroyer, Kozmo Sliprider, and Kozmo Dark Eclipser. Ultimately the Kozmo Dark Destroyer hit his hand and the rest fell to the Graveyard.

Do drew to five cards and began with the activation of King of the Feral Imps’ effect to add Performapal Lizardraw. He moved to Battle Phase next, and declared an attack with King of the Feral Imps which prompted Lopez to activate the effect his Kozmo Tincan. In response to that, Lopez Chained his own Call of the Haunted to Special Summon Kozmo Sliprider and then Special Summon Kozmo Dark Destroyer. Kozmo Dark Destroyer activated to destroy Ignister Prominence, the Blasting Dracoslayer, but Do responded with the effect of Traptrix Rafflesia to use Bottomless Trap Hole from his Deck to banish Lopez’s Kozmo Dark Destroyer. Do activated Performapal Monkeyboard next and used it to add Performapal Pendulum Sorcerer to his hand, then placed Performapal Lizardraw in his Pendulum Zone and used it to draw another card. With six cards in hand, Do ended.

Lopez drew Kozmojo for turn. He activated the effect of Kozmotown to add Kozmo Dark Destroyer to his hand, then used the other effect of Kozmotown to shuffle back Kozmo Forerunner and draw Effect Veiler. He moved to Battle Phase and crashed his Kozmo Sliprider with Do’s King of the Feral Imps, then activated the effect of ‘kozfsr to Special Summon Kozmoll Wickedwitch. He declared an attack with that over Do’s Vector Pendulum, the Dracoverlord, then activated the effect of Kozmoll Wickedwitch to Special Summon Kozmo Dark Destroyer. He used its effect to destroy Do’s Traptrix Rafflesia, then attacked directly putting Do down to 4550. He Set Kozmojo before he ended his turn.

Do drew and activated Performapal Lizardraw and drew a card. He placed Performapal Guitartle in his Pendulum Zone, but when he Pendulum Summoned Performapal Pendulum Sorcerer he lost out to Lopez’s Effect Veiler.

Lopez drew another copy of Kozmotown and activated the effect of the in play Kozmotown to add back Kozmoll Wickedwitch, then Normal Summoned it. He moved to Battle Phase, declared an attack with Kozmoll Wickedwitch over Performapal Pendulum Sorcerer and directly with Kozmo Dark Destroyer. He Flipped his Set Kozmojo and that was it!

Facing down a huge Pendulum play, Alberto Lopez manages to fight through the Field with his Kozmos and win the match to move on 5-1!
