Round 8 Feature Match: Jose Uriel Diaz de Leon versus Yifei Yang

Jose Uriel Diaz de Leon from Chicago, IL is the lone undefeated Duelist left running Kozmo. His opponent this round, Yifei Yang hails from Los Angeles, CA and like many players this weekend has brought Performapal Pendulum to the YCS. Both players are looking to add another win to their record going into the final round of Swiss for today.


Yang started off with Draco Face-Off, Diaz de Leon chained Maxx “C”. Luster Pendulum, the Dracoslayer went into the Pendulum Zone, while Vector Pendulum, the Dracoverlord was placed in the Extra Deck. He set a card to the back row and passed.

Diaz de Leon drew, played Kozmotown, used its effect to reveal Kozmo Dark Destroyer and drew one card. Diaz de Leon set Call of the Haunted, Skill Drain and passed back.

Yang Normal Summoned Performage Damage Juggler, attacked for 1500 and ended his turn.

Diaz de Leon drew and Summoned Kozmo Strawman and immediately used its effect to Special Summon Kozmo Dark Destroyer from hand. Dark Destroyer activated targeting itself but Yang used Time-Space Trap Hole. In Main Phase 2, Diaz de Leon used Kozmotown to return the banished Strawman to hand and ended.

Yang Normal Summoned Luster Pendulum, the Dracoslayer. Performage Damage Juggler attacked directly for 1500 and Luster Pendulum, the Dracoslayer attacks for 1850, putting Diaz de Leon at 2950 LP.

Diaz de Leon Normal Summoned Kozmo Tincan. In the End Phase, Kozmo Tincan revealed Kozmo Dark Destroyer, Kozmo Dark Eclipser and Kozmo Sliprider. Sliprider was randomly selected to add to hand, the other two were sent to the Graveyard.

Yang drew for turn and Special Summoned Performage Hat Tricker, then overlaid it and the Performage Damage Juggler to Xyz Summon Diamond Dire Wolf. Diaz de Leon used Call of the Haunted targeting Dark Destroyer, which was Summoned and cleared out the Diamond Dire Wolf before the Beast could use its effect. Yang pressed on and banished Performage Damage Juggler for Performage Plushfire, which was activated in a Pendulum Zone. Diaz de Leon banished the on-field Kozmo Tincan for Kozmo Sliprider which destroyed Luster Pendulum, the Dracoslayer. Yang continued on, activating Instant Fusion, paying 1000 LP to Special Summon Elder Entity Norden. When Norden activated, Diaz de Leon paid his own 1000 LP for Skill Drain. In the End Phase, Norden was Destroyed.

Diaz de Leon drew Forerunner, and there was enough attack points on the field to attack for game. Diaz de Leon takes game 1. Both players dove into the Side Decks for game 2.

Game 2

Yang elected to go first.

Yang started off with Vector Pendulum, the Dracoverlord and Master Pendulum, the Dracoslayer, then followed up with Wavering Eyes, searching for Performapal Skullcrobat Joker. Performapal Skullcrobat Joker was Normal Summoned and its effect searched out Performapal Monkeyboard, and that was used to search for Performapal Lizardraw. Yang then Pendulum Summoned Master Pendulum, the Dracoslayer, and Vector Pendulum, the Dracoverlord from the Extra Deck along with Performage Damage Juggler from hand. Yang used Master Pendulum, the Dracoslayer, Performapal Skullcrobat Joker and Luster Pendulum, the Dracoslayer for Tellarknight Ptolemaeus. With no Ghost Ogre & Snow Rabbits in sight, Diaz de Leon detached all 3 Xyz Materials to Rank-Up Tellarknight Ptolemaeus for Cyber Dragon Nova which led to Cyber Dragon Cyber Dragon Infinity being Summoned on top of that. Performage Damage Juggler was banished from the Graveyard to add Performage Hat Tricker from Deck to hand, which was Special Summoned and overlaid with Vector Pendulum, the Dracoverlord for Traptrix Rafflesia. Yang set a spell trap and passed with a strong field.

Diaz de Leon activated Emergency Teleport for Kozmo Farmgirl, then Normal Summoned Kozmo Goodwitch and attempted to use the effect to turn Cyber Dragon Infinity face-down but was shu tdown but Yang’s Solemn Strike. Kozmo Farmgirl was banished for her own effect but Yang opted to use Cyber Dragon Infinity to negate Kozmo Farmgirl’s effect. Diaz de Leon had a second Emergency Teleport for Kozmo Tincan. Diaz de Leon set Anti-Spell Fragrance, then in the End Phase, Kozmo Tincan activated, revealing Kozmo Dark Destroyer, Kozmo Dark Eclipser and Kozmo Sliprider. Kozmo Dark Destroyer was added to hand. Still in the End Phase, Diaz de Leon activated Kozmo Tincan’s Special Summon effect, Summoning Kozmo Dark Destroyer, which targeted Cyber Dragon Infinity, but Traptrix Rafflesia was chained dumping Time-Space Trap Hole. Dark Destroyer was sent back to the Deck and Cyber Dragon Infinity was destroyed.

Yang drew for turn and used Performapal Lizardraw in the Pendulum Zone to draw 1 card. Diaz de Leon chained Anti-Spell Fragrance. Yang could only Summon a Luster Pendulum, the Dracoslayer and attack into an open field for 1850.

Diaz de Leon drew the third Emergency Teleport and Normal Summoned Strawman. Strawman was banished to Special Forerunner, attacking Luster Pendulum, the Dracoslayer for 950. Emergency Teleport was set and Diaz de Leon passed back.

Yang drew for turn and passed.

Diaz de Leon drew for turn, gained 1000 LP from Forerunner, attacked into Traptrix Rafflesia. Diaz de Leon activated the set Emergency Teleport Special Summoning Kozmo Farmgirl from the Deck, she attacked and used her effect to search for Kozmo Dark Destroyer, Kozmo Farmgirl’s Special Summon effect was activated to Summon the Kozmo Dark Destroyer that was was added to hand, Kozmo Dark Destroyer used its effect on Forerunner, which in turn used its effect to Summon Kozmo Sliprider from the Deck. The onslaught of spaceships was enough to wipe out Yang’s Life Points!

Diaz de Leon wins 2-0, moving onto the final round of Swiss undefeated with Kozmo!
