Top 8 Feature Match: Thomas Rowe versus Santos Garcia

Thomas Rowe from Cleveland, Ohio and Santos Garcia from Houston, Texas both finished the Swiss Rounds with a 9-2 record using their Performapal Pendulum Decks. So far, they’ve both been on winning streaks in the Single Elimination Rounds, coasting through the Top 32 and Top 16. But now, they’re facing off against one another in a Match that will determine which one of these Duelists will advance to the Top 4. It’s time to Duel!

 

Duel One

 

Santos Garcia won the die roll and chose to go first.

He Normal Summoned Performapal Skullcrobat Joker and activated its effect to add Monkeyboard to his hand. He activated Performapal Guitartle in his Pendulum Zone and then activated Performapal Monkeyboard in his Pendulum Zone. He used Guitartle’s effect to draw a card and then activated Monkeyboard’s effect to add Performapal Pendulum Sorcerer from his Deck to his hand. Rowe discarded Maxx “C” from his hand to activate its effect. Next, Garcia Pendulum Summoned Luster Pendulum, the Dracoslayer and Performapal Pendulum Sorcerer from his hand and used his Pendulum Sorcerer’s effect to destroy his Luster Pendulum, the Dracoslayer and the Monkeyboard in his Pendulum Zone. Rowe added Performapal Skullcrobat Joker and Monkeyboard from his Deck to his hand with his Sorcerer’s effect. Rowe drew a card on the Pendulum Summon thanks to the effect of Maxx “C”. Next, Rowe activated Performapal Lizardraw in his Pendulum Zone and used its effect to destroy it and draw a card. He Set a card to his back row and passed.

 

Rowe drew a card and then activated Upstart Goblin to draw a card and give Garcia 1000 Life Points. He activated Draco Face-Off to reveal Vector Pendulum, the Dracoverlord and Luster Pendulum, the Dracoslayer from his Deck and Garcia randomly selected Luster Pendulum, the Dracoslayer. Rowe placed it in his Pendulum Zone and then placed Performapal Pendulum Sorcerer in his Pendulum Zone to accompany it. Next, he activated the effect of his Luster Pendulum, the Dracoslayer; but Garcia Chained Twin Twisters, discarding Performapal Secondonkey to destroy both of Rowe’s Pendulum Scales. Rowe entered his Battle Phase and then discarded Performage Damage Juggler. He banished it from his Graveyard to add Performage Plushfire from his Deck to his hand in Main Phase 2. He placed it in his Pendulum Zone and then placed Performage Mirror Conductor in his Pendulum Zone. He Pendulum Summoned Vector Pendulum, the Dracoverlord, Luster Pendulum, the Dracoslayer, and Performapal Pendulum Sorcerer next, and used his Sorcerer’s effect to destroy his 2 Pendulum Scales and add Skullcrobat Joker and Monkeyboard from his Deck to his hand. Next, he used the effect of his Plushfire to Special Summon Damage Juggler from his Deck. Next, Rowe Tuned Luster Pendulum, the Dracoslayer with Sorcerer to Synchro Summon Ignister Prominence, the Blasting Dracoslayer! He activated its effect to destroy the Guitartle in Garcia’s Pendulum Zone and shuffle Pendulum Sorcerer into Garcia’s Deck. Next, he Normal Summoned Skullcrobat Joker and activated its effect to add Performapal Guitartle to his hand. He activated the effect of Ignister Prominence, the Blasting Dracoslayer next, Special Summoning Master Pendulum, the Dracoslayer from his Deck in Defense Position. Then, he combined Master Pendulum, Damage Juggler, and Skullcrobat Joker to Xyz Summon Tellarknight Ptolemaeus, and activated its effect to detach all 3 Materials and Summon Cyber Dragon Nova. Next, he upgraded his Nova into Cyber Dragon Infinity, and activated its effect to attach Garcia’s Skullcrobat Joker to it as an Xyz Material. He Set Solemn Strike before ending his turn.

 

Garcia activated Book of Moon targeting Cyber Dragon Infinity, and Rowe detached an Xyz Material from Cyber Dragon Infinity to negate the Book of Moon. Next, Garcia Summoned Performapal Skullcrobat Joker and activated its effect to add Performapal Lizardraw to his hand. He activated Monkeyboard next, and used its effect to add Performapal Pendulum Sorcerer to his hand. He activated Lizardraw in his Pendulum Zone and then attempted to Pendulum Summon 4 monsters; but Rowe negated the Pendulum Summon with Solemn Strike! Garcia instantly conceded, devastated by the Solemn Strike.

Duel Two

 

Garcia started off Duel 2 by activating Draco Face-Off. He revealed Luster Pendulum, the Dracoslayer and Vector Pendulum, the Dracoverlord from his Deck, and Rowe randomly selected Vector Pendulum. Garcia Special Summoned it in Attack Position and sent Luster Pendulum face-up to his Extra Deck. Next, Garcia activated Performapal Monkeyboard and used its effect to add Performapal Guitartle to his hand. He placed the Guitartle in his Pendulum Zone and then Rowe discarded Maxx “C”. Next, Garcia Pendulum Summoned Performapal Pendulum Sorcerer and used its effect to destroy his own Pendulum Sorcerer and the Monkeyboard in his Extra Deck. Rowe drew a card thanks to Maxx “C”. Garcia added Monkeyboard and Skullcrobat Joker from his Deck to his hand with his Sorcerer’s effect. He Normal Summoned Skullcrobat Joker next, and activated its effect to add Performapal Lizardraw to his hand. He placed Lizardraw in his Pendulum Zone and used Guitartle’s effect to draw a card. Next, he used Lizardraw’s effect to draw a card by destroying it. He Xyz Summoned Evilswarm Nightmare in Defense Position next, allowing Rowe to draw another card, and then Set a card to his back row.

 

Rowe drew a card and then had 7 cards in his hand.

He activated Dark Hole to clear the field, and then placed Performage Plushfire in his Pendulum Zone. He activated Luster Pendulum, the Dracoslayer in his Pendulum Zone next, and activated its effect; but Garcia discarded Performage Mirror Conductor to activate Twin Twisters and destroy the Luster Pendulum, the Dracoslayer. Next, Rowe activated Draco Face-Off, revealing Vector Pendulum, the Dracoverlord and Luster Pendulum, the Dracoslayer from his Deck. Rowe randomly selected the Luster Pendulum, and Garcia Special Summoned it to the field. Next, Rowe activated Wavering Eyes, destroying a card from each player’s Pendulum Zone. He added Performapal Skullcrobat Joker from his Deck to his hand with the effect of his Wavering Eyes, and Special Summoned Performage Damage Juggler from his Deck with the effect of his Plushfire. He Normal Summoned Skullcrobat Joker next, and used its effect to add Monkeyboard from his Deck to his hand, prompting Garcia to concede.
