Dragon Duel Playoff Feature Match: Kevin Thai versus Tyler Hanson
Kevin Thai and Tyler Hanson are both 12-year-old Duelists, and each of them won a Dragon Duel Tournament this weekend with their Sealed Format Decks. Now, they must Duel against one another with their Advanced Format Decks, in a Match that will decide who becomes the ultimate Dragon Duel Champion of the weekend! One of these Duelists will take home the trophy, along with a set of YCS Darklord Prize Cards. It’s time to Duel!
Duel One
Thai opened up Duel 1 with Maxx “C”, Armageddon Knight, Master Pendulum, the Dracoslayer, and 2 copies of Performapal Pendulum Sorcerer. He Summoned Armageddon Knight and activated its effect to send Blackwing – Zephyros the Elite from his Deck to his Graveyard. Next, he placed Master Pendulum, the Dracoslayer in his Pendulum Zone and returned it to his hand to Special Summon Zephyros back from his Graveyard and give up 400 Life Points. Then, he combined Armageddon Knight with Zephyros to Xyz Summon Abyss Dweller and ended his turn.
Hanson revealed Cir, Malebranche of the Burning Abyss from his hand to Special Summon it, and Thai Chained the effect of Maxx “C”, and then the effect of Abyss Dweller. Hanson Special Summoned Cir in Defense Position, and Thai drew a card. Hanson Normal Summoned Rubic, Malebranche of the Burning Abyss next, and combined it with Cir to Xyz Summon Dante, Traveler of the Burning Abyss in Attack Position. Thai drew another card. Hanson activated its effect by sending Cagna, Malebranche of the Burning Abyss, Tour Guide From the Underworld and Anti-Spell Fragrance from the top of his Deck to his Graveyard. Dante attacked and destroyed Abyss Dweller next, dropping Thai down to 6800 Life Points. Dante switched into Defense Position at the end of the Battle Phase, and Hanson Set 2 cards to his back row before passing.
Thai activated Performapal Silver Claw in his Pendulum Zone and then placed Performapal Pendulum Sorcerer in his Pendulum Zone. He attempted to Pendulum Summon Performapal Pendulum Sorcerer and Vector Pendulum, the Dracoverlord from his hand, but Hanson flipped Horn of Heaven and Tributed Dante to negate the Summon! Hanson used Cir’s effect to Special Summon Dante from his Graveyard in Defense Position and used Dante’s effect to return Cir from his Graveyard to his hand. Next, Thai Normal Summoned Master Pendulum, the Dracoslayer.
Hanson Normal Summoned Cir, Malebranche of the Burning Abyss and then activated Fire Lake of the Burning Abyss. He Tributed Dante and Cir to destroy both Pendulum Scales and Thai’s face-down Treacherous Trap Hole. Hanson used Cir’s effect to Special Summon Dante from his Graveyard and Dante’s effect to add Cir from his Graveyard to his hand. Next, he Set a card to his back row and ended his turn.
Thai drew Performapal Pendulum Sorcerer and Summoned it to the field. He combined it with Master Pendulum to Summon Number 39: Utopia; but Hanson flipped Solemn Warning and paid 2000 Life Points to negate its Summon.
Hanson Normal Summoned Fiendish Rhino Warrior and then discarded Cir from his hand to upgrade Dante into Beatrice, Lady of the Eternal. He used Cir’s effect to Special Summon Cagna from his Graveyard and then attacked directly with Beatrice, Cagna, and Fiendish Rhino Warrior, dropping Thai down to 1400 Life Points. Next, Hanson activated Mask Change II, transforming his Cagna into Masked HERO Dark Law! A direct attack from Dark Law finished Thai off!

Duel Two
Thai opened up Duel 2 with Upstart Goblin, Wavering Eyes, Treacherous Trap Hole, Mystical Space Typhoon, and Vector Pendulum, the Dracoverlord.
He activated Upstart Goblin to draw Maxx “C” and give Hanson 1000 Life Points. He Set Wavering Eyes, Treacherous Trap Hole, and Mystical Space Typhoon before passing.
Hanson activated Twin Twisters, discarding Scarm, Malebranche of the Burning Abyss to destroy Thai’s face-down Mystical Space Typhoon and Treacherous Trap Hole. Next, he revealed Cir to Special Summon it, and Thai Chained Maxx “C” to draw a card. Hanson Normal Summoned Fiendish Rhino Warrior next, and combined it with Cir to Summon Dante, Traveler of the Burning Abyss. Thai drew a card due to the effect of Maxx “C”. Next, Hanson detached Fiendish Rhino Warrior from Dante to activate its effect and send Fiendish Rhino Warrior, Cir, and Libic, Malebranche of the Burning Abyss from the top of his Deck to his Graveyard. He used his Fiendish Rhino Warrior’s effect to send Calcab to the Graveyard and return Thai’s face-down Wavering Eyes to his hand. Hanson attacked directly with Dante to drop Thai to 5500 Life Points, and then his Dante switched into Defense Position. He Set 2 cards to his back row before ending his turn.
Thai Summoned Performapal Skullcrobat Joker and activated its effect, but lost out on the effect to Solemn Strike. Then, Hanson flipped Anti-Spell Fragrance! Thai Set a monster and then passed his turn.
Hanson Normal Summoned Tour Guide From the Underworld from his hand and activated its effect to Special Summon Scarm from his Deck. He combined Dante with Scarm to Xyz Summon Super Quantal Mech Beast Grampulse from his Extra Deck, and used its effect to destroy Thai’s face-down Wavering Eyes. Next, he detached Cir from Dante to activate Dante’s effect, and sent 3 cards from the top of his Deck to his Graveyard. He Special Summoned Farfa from his Graveyard with Cir’s effect, and it destroyed itself, banishing Thai’s face-down Dracoverlord from the Duel until the End Phase. Dante attacked directly and then switched into Defense Position. Hanson added Graff to his hand in the End Phase with Scarm’s effect, and Vector Pendulum returned to Thai’s field.
Thai Flip Summoned Vector Pendulum and then Normal Summoned Luster Pendulum. He Tuned the two monsters together to Synchro Summon Ignister Prominence, the Blasting Dracoslayer and used its effect to Special Summon Master Pendulum from his Deck. He used Ignister Prominence, the Blasting Dracoslayer’s effect to destroy his own Master Pendulum and return Dante to the Extra Deck. He attacked Grampulse to destroy it.
Hanson Set a card to his back row and passed.
Thai drew Draco Face-Off and Set it. He Normal Summoned Master Pendulum and then attacked directly with Ignister Prominence, the Blasting Dracoslayer and Master Pendulum to drop Hanson down to 2700 Life Points. In Main Phase 2, Hanson activated Ignister Prominence’s effect to destroy his own Master Pendulum and shuffle Hanson’s face-down card into his Deck.
Hanson Set a monster and passed his turn.
Thai flipped Draco Face-Off and Special Summoned Master Pendulum from his Deck with its effect. Then, he used Ignister Prominence’s effect to destroy Master Pendulum and shuffle Hanson’s face-down monster into his Deck. A direct attack from Ignister Prominence, the Blasting Dracoslayer finished Hanson off!

Duel Three
Hanson started off Duel 3 by Special Summoning Rubic from his hand; but Thai Special Summoned Flying “C” to Hanson’s field, causing Rubic to destroy itself!

Thai drew a Flying “C” and then had Twin Twisters, Flying “C”, Draco Face-Off, Vector Pendulum, the Dracoverlord, and Wavering Eyes in his hand. He activated Twin Twisters, discarding his extra Flying “C”, and destroyed Hanson’s face-down Solemn Strike and Twin Twisters. Next, he activated Draco Face-Off, selecting Vector Pendulum, the Dracoverlord and Luster Pendulum, the Dracoslayer from his Deck. He randomly selected Luster Pendulum, the Dracoslayer and placed it into his Pendulum Zone. He added Vector Pendulum to his Extra Deck. Next, he placed Vector Pendulum in his Pendulum Zone, and used Luster Pendulum’s effect to destroy Vector Pendulum and add another copy of it from his Deck to his hand. He played Vector Pendulum in his Pendulum Zone and then activated Wavering Eyes! He destroyed Luster Pendulum and Vector Pendulum, sending them to the Extra Deck, dealt 500 points of damage to Hanson, and then added Performapal Monkeyboard from his Deck to his hand. He placed Monkeyboard in his Pendulum Zone, used its effect to add Lizardraw to his hand, and then placed Lizardraw into his Pendulum Zone. Next, he Pendulum Summoned 3 Vector Pendulums and a Luster Pendulum to his field. He Tuned Luster Pendulum with Vector Pendulum to Synchro Summon Ignister Prominence, the Blasting Dracoslayer and used its effect to Special Summon Master Pendulum, the Dracoslayer from his Deck in Defense Position. Next, he combined Luster Pendulum with Vector Pendulum to Xyz Summon Majester Paladin, the Ascending Dracoslayer in Attack Position, and used its effect to detach Master Pendulum and Special Summon Luster Pendulum, the Dracoslayer from his Extra Deck. Then, he Normal Summoned Archfiend Eccentrick and Tributed it to destroy Flying “C” Direct attacks from Ignister Prominence, Vector Pendulum, Luster Pendulum, and Majester Paladin wiped out all of Hanson’s Life Points!
